The Happily Ever After: NYSSA
Ariadne didn’t have to make it to the house over and over again. From her home, we talked all the time over the phone. Since I had become very much better, it got to the point of her givin’ my contact to the clients.
And not just that, I was able to retrieve my identity on the internet – with millions of followers patronizin’ me all the time. What more could I ask for?
“Are you in there?”
Snappin’ out of my happy thoughts, I looked at the door. Lysander was walkin’ into the room with a questionin’ gaze.
Why did I forget to recall that the man who happened to be my worst enemy at some point in my life, is suddenly the love of my life?
“Is everythin’ okay with you?”
I nodded, snappin’ out of my thoughts again. “It’s nothin’,” I replied. “I’m sorry, I was only thinkin’.” I mouthed again and relaxed my back on the bed.
What was he doin’ here?
Did he not say he was goin’ for a walk?
Adjustin’ on the bed, it was my turn to look at ‘im with a questionin’ gaze.
Doin’ this, I asked with concern. “Is anythin’ the matter? Didn’t you say you were goin’ on a walk, Lysander?”
“Oh, that.”
Yes, that.
“It could wait until later in the day. I just thought we could spend some time together, Nyssa. That’s all.” He explained, settlin’ next to me on the bed and lockin’ gazes the very next moment. What was he tryin’ to do this time around?
How could I know?
The man has been up to a lot since a long time ago, startin’ from the moment we got to discover we love each other. “Is there somethin’ you want to say?”
“How did you know that?”
“I don’t exactly know, Lysander. It’s just-” I mouthed and watched as he turned on the television in space.
“It’s just what, Nyssa?”
“You keep actin’ suspicious – that’s all. So is there somethin’ you want to say?”
“Oh, that.”
The television was turned on.
There was a program I wanted to see, but I couldn’t stop the moment. Especially when I enjoyed it more than he did. It was better I let ‘im, wasn’t it? And I did.
“I wanted to talk to you.”
I knew it!
“It’s nothin’ much at all, Nyssa. It’s just me bein’ sorry for all the pain I caused you before the accident. The plan was to kill you when you came into my house the last time. I don’t know how to feel ’bout it, but I am truly sorry.”
Was he doin’ this?
I heaved a sigh. “I told you I forgave you before I came to take you from the hospital, Lysander. Why do you keep stressin’ yourself? I am not mad at you. Not anymore.”
“How can you be such a good person?”
Was I?
“I understand very well what made you do it. You gave me that revelation a while ago when you were recoverin’. You didn’t have the perfect father and he pushed you into bein’ the monster that you were.”
He no longer was.
“I know, and I’m sorry.”
I gave a nod.
He did the same.
What could I say this time?
The loud noise from the television snapped ‘im out of his thoughts. He was lookin’ at me with the most seductive eyes I would ever see, and there was a strong urge to just kiss ‘im. How handsome could a man be?
Now, I realized he was more handsome than Kazmir. But what ’bout ‘im? Is he spendin’ the rest of his life with Calypso, or not? The thought of it alone made me want to smile. Who knows? Fate had brought me into the arms of another man that happened to be Lysander.
Just then, my phone started to beep.
I looked to my left where it was and looked back at Lysander who wasn’t carin’, but fixin’ his gaze on the screen of the television. What did Ariadne want this time? Pickin’ the call up, I placed the device on my ear.
“Hi, lover girl.”
No. Not again.
“You keep doin’ this, Ariadne. What did I ever do to you?”
From the other end, she scoffed and let out a sigh I could hear. “I don’t know how to break the news to you, but be ready to hear the dumbest thing I would ever say to you. I’m sorry in advance but they made me do it.”
What?
“It’s Violet.”
My mom.
What ’bout her?
“What is the matter with her?”
Ariadne heaved a sigh. Lysander was lookin’ at me this time around.
“What is it, Violet? Did somethin’ happen to her?” And why was I scared? I didn’t care so much ’bout her, did I? Why do I care all of a sudden? My hand touched my chest and I discovered how fast my heart was beatin’.
“She wants us to see,” she sounded, interruptin’ my thoughts. “All of us except your sister who has refused the invite. I don’t know what you’ll say, but I’m hopin’ it’s a good thing at the end of the day.”
I looked at Lysander.
Even if I didn’t want to go, I just had to ’cause I wanted her to meet the man I was in love with. The last time I checked, she didn’t meet Kazmir.
“Let me know the details later, I’ll be there.”
Ariadne heaved a sigh.
“Thank you. I’ll let her know.” And she ended the call, while I placed the phone on the bed and then looked at Lysander, attemptin’ to break the news.
“Not bad. I’ll love to go with you, after all.”
Would he?
“Thank you, Lysander.”
“Thank you for lettin’ me go with you, Nyssa.” He said and shifted closer to me, plantin’ a kiss on my cheeks. He did the same to my forehead and then, our gazes met.
I wanted more.
And so I kissed ‘im.
