The Incriminatin’ Evidence: NYSSA
Finally, it was time for me to do what I’ve always wanted to do. A smile came on my countenance this mornin’ when I came awake, but it reduced at the thought of what would happen on this day.
“We could cancel this plan, you know, Nyssa,” a man walked into the room from the bathroom. “I don’t want to put you in any trouble.”
“I’ll go-”
I cut ‘im short before other words could be raised. “Don’t try to discourage me, Kazmir.” I cried and got out of bed, walkin’ into the bathroom after snatchin’ a towel from the wardrobe. “I’ll take my bath and get ready.” Into the bathroom, I walked. My legs led me out as soon as I was done and at this point, I could perceive breakfast from the bedroom where I was.
In less than half an hour, I was all ready. The uniform Jane gave to me was worn, with worn perfumes on the gown. I proceeded to the livin’ room area after choosin’ not to take my handbag, after which I caught up with the dinin’ section of the penthouse.
“Thank you-” I greeted Kazmir who ate from his tray, seated on the other side of the space, opposite me. “This looks good, Kazmir.” I settled and started to eat also, realizin’ also how hungry I am.
“Don’t thank me yet. I mean, it’s the least I could do to assist you on a day you’ll take so much risk. Can you see that?” He was on his feet, obviously done with his meal and headed to the kitchen with his tray.
Just then, the sound of the house bell came ringing’. I got on my feet but before I could reach the entrance, someone took my chance and walked out to get the gate on my behalf. I didn’t even have to ask before knowin’ it was Jane, as this was the time we agreed she would come to the house.
“I can see how ready you are-” someone walked into the livin’ room with my husband.
“Good mornin’, Mrs. Draven. You look ready but I have to ask, are you ready?” Walkin’ further into the space, she asked me who was on my feet and rehearsed everythin’ we talked ’bout the last time we met a few days ago and even yesterday for the final plans.
“I am ready!”
We headed out of the livin’ room in due time. “Are you sure you don’t want me comin’ with you two?” Someone asked from behind, causin’ me to turn around with a shake of my head. “I mean, I could wait at a location so that you can join me when you’re out.” He explained further and I still shook my head, turnin’ around again without sayin’ a word to the man.
When I hopped in the car, I waved at Kazmir through the window. “I can’t wait to be done with this,” I stated, lookin’ at Jane who smiled. “Thank you for your help, Jane. I don’t know what I would do without you on this mission with me.”
“You have nothin’ at all to worry ’bout. Remember the plan?” She asked and I nodded, while she faced the wheels and didn’t say a word until we caught up with the gate of the company. “We have arrived. This is the point where you play your part and role in this script.” She stopped the car, mouthin’. “I’ll be watchin’ just as I have said. Remember the plan?”
For the umpteenth time, I mouthed. “Yes, Jane. I remember the plan.” And with this, I hopped down from the car. “Thank you.” I added and reached the gate where a man in uniform stood, holdin’ a machine.
“Good mornin’, Mr!” I greeted, stoppin’ in my tracks. “It’s another day of the week, isn’t it?”
“Yo, my lady. Good mornin’-” he was all smiles and usin’ his machine on me. “You should go in as soon as possible. Mr. Crowley isn’t at work yet but will be in a while. He shouldn’t be here before you or did you forget the rules?” He asked and I waved at ‘im, walkin’ past ‘im as I thought ’bout what he said – Theodore Crowley not bein’ present in the office yet.
“Good for me,” I mouthed unknowin’ly, recallin’ the plans I had with Jane and stoppin’ in my tracks so that I could look for the back door. “Backdoor.” I turned around, walkin’ through the other end and catchin’ up with the backdoor in moments.
“Who’s there?”
I froze.
No way.
Did Jane not mention that there was no one there? I was scared for my life and at the same time, managed to hold myself back from showin’ my fear.
As a worker I have given others the impression I am, I ought to smile and act like one for all that I know – rather than implicatin’ myself.
I walked out of my hidin’ place, startin’ my journey once more.
When I caught up with the elevator space, I took an item and it fitted me like an actual worker. With this, I had no more fears but boldness to reach my destination.
One of the many things that annoyed me was the fact that the criminal’s office was far from the first floor. But what was I expectin’? He would do anythin’ to hide his secrets, as long as he wasn’t caught.
Finally!
I had reached the elevator. There was someone in the small space with me, but she was a cleaner who barely knew the workers in the company. Suddenly, she looked at me and asked. “Are you new here?”
Scared, I mouthed. “Y-yes, I started recently. It’s nice to meet you but I don’t think we’ve met before.” The elevator stopped and I heaved a sigh.
“My name is Ella.” I said to her lastly before runnin’ away, wavin’ at staff who I was certain didn’t recognize me for any reason. It was one of the many things I could do to act like I was one of them, rather than makin’ them suspect me.
In moments, I caught up with the floor Jane mentioned.
There were frames all over the walls of this floor, with names of the man I have come to take evidence against, all over. A lot went on in my head as I looked for the door with the colour Jane mentioned.
Where was this door?
Did the woman lie to me?
There was no way she would lie to me.
The man treated her cruelly accordin’ to her words to me. She must take back what she owns and this is one way to do just that.
My eyes caught somethin’.
It was the door I was in search of.
Was it opened just as Jane had said? I walked closer, actin’ innocent and catchin’ up with it in due time.
There was no way I would leave here without the evidence I needed, especially pictures of the hard drugs layin’ in the cabinet Jane talked ’bout.
The document also.
The thought of this made me smile, but I stopped when I found out I was yet to be in the office as agreed.
Everyone around didn’t focus on the door, and this was my chance. My legs walked closer and I stood in front of the door, pushin’ it open and walkin’ into the space. The door pushed open just as the woman said and I walked in, smilin’ in relief.
My eyes scanned the room.
I stopped in my tracks when my gaze came upon the cabinet.
My phone was brought out of my pocket and I beeped Jane to let her know that I had gotten into the space. I now walked to the cabinet, ready to do what I must do when somethin’ strange happened.
