ANNABELLA’S POV
We almost had sex in his office!
The thought makes my inside tremble and, at the same time, makes me happy as I can still feel his touch on my skin.
‘ I wonder what sex in his office will be like.’ Eve added to my stress, and I rolled my eyes at her dirty words. ‘ Don’t be disappointed; you can always ask him for a payback.’ she giggled, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. ‘ Or I can just talk to Xade…’
‘ Don’t dream about it.’ I growled at her before she could finish her words. Where the hell was she taking this to? Wasn’t talking to Xade the same as talking to Roman? It was going to be embarrassing.’ Come on, girl, wake up; he is your mate, and remember he is the only one who can make you feel this good.’ I growled internally as I realized she wasn’t going to stop.
” Where is she?” Roman’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I immediately recognized the hospital building.” She is in her ward. The doctor recommended she rest for a while, and also, it seems her memory is coming back.” His gamma informed him as he led him to her ward. ” How is she?” Roman’s concerned voice made me feel funny inside as my eyes lingered on his broad back.” I think she is okay, but she seemed a little weak. The doctor said something might have triggered her memory, which could be a good sign.” he added.
” Roman” my steps halted right at the door as her girly voice called out to him.
I didn’t know what happened to her because I recall she was okay early this morning.
Roman seemed to care about her, which was normal, but why was I uncomfortable with her holding his hand?
Weren’t they supposed to care for her since they were siblings? I didn’t know what I was thinking and I wish I knew.
” I remember that night.” She said, her gaze shifting in my direction. ” What do you remember?” Roman asked eagerly. I understood how much finding the truth meant to him, so I decided to stay by his side, which was my decision.
I forced myself to bury that uncomfortable feeling and stepped inside the ward. I slipped my hand into Roman’s, which he squeezed before turning his head to look at me.
” I remember that night, it was a golden wolf that attacked me. It killed alpha Stephen and then my mother.” Her words left me dumbfounded.
A golden wolf she said?
But what I saw in the house was a black wolf! I could feel Roman’s hold on my hand getting tighter, the air in the room turning stuffy as I suddenly became breathless. ” Luna Bella, are you okay?” Zack asked, and Roman immediately let go of my hand.” I will accompany you back.” He offered, and I turned my head to look at Roman, who was still quiet upon hearing Juliet’s words.
” I remember screaming for help. I even tried to run after I saw it thorning alpha Stephen into pieces but I fell on the stairs and didn’t know what happened next. ” Juliet’s vision of the story was entirely different from what I saw in the old mansion.
” Are you sure you are alright?” Zack asked as we walked out of the hospital building and I nodded. ” What exactly happened to Juliet? I mean, why is she in the hospital?” I was curious. ” I saw her in pain by the edge, and I decided to bring her to the hospital.” He explained..
The edge was a few steps away from the lake, did that mean she was there watching us the whole we were swimming?
When I arrived at the alpha wing, Kelly was there waiting for me.” Oh dear, come here, ” Madeline’s voice called me in, as usual, the minute I shut the door behind me. ” I was just telling Kelly how you and Roman met,” Madeline said, and I could tell Kelly was enjoying the story, which I would have preferred she never told her, but it was fine. ” You and Alpha Roman are made for each other,” Kelly commented, her eyes dancing in a pool of excitement. ” I didn’t know you were this brave; I bet I would have stabbed myself to death if I was ever in your shoes. You deserve all the happiness in the world, Bella. Nobody would have guessed you suffered this much and to think your family put you into this ink me.” She pushed out of the couch and pulled me into a hang.
” You should be happy and trust me, I will do anything to make that happen.” She pulled back.” You are really brave and I wish I was half as strong as you.” She admitted.” You are. Remember, that asshole doesn’t deserve you.” I told her and she nodded.
” Diago Jackson.” she murmured.
” Alpha Diago ?” I asked a bit surprised, and she nodded with an apologetic look in her eyes. I didn’t know him personally, but I knew he was related to Wade Jackson, the playboy in Rivers. ” I just wanted to forget his name.” She confessed with a sad look in her eyes, ” And did you forget?” She shook her head slowly and I sighed. ” I’m sorry,?” I pulled back in a hang.
” But I will reject him once I return to the full moon pack.” She said and I nodded, hemming in return. I guess that was the only way out.
I would have done that same thing if I were in her shoes, but there would have been a slight difference, which was I would have done it earlier.
” You deserve to be happy,” I whispered as my thoughts went back to Roman’s sudden coldness in the hospital ward.
” You girls should freshen up. I’m almost done with the cake, and I want you two to try it out first.” Madeline’s voice made me giggle about how she was going to kill us with her delicious cooking, and Kelly laughed. ” I will be back in a few minutes.” Kelly left.
” It seems you girls have known each other for years.” She smiled but the strand on her face was what caught my attention. ” Your hair has fallen out,” I said and she shook her head. ” It happens but it will grow back in a few days.” I frowned but didn’t think much about it, even though I wanted to know more about it, especially when she sounded confident about it.
” Kelly will be here soon.” I ran up the stairs and immediately headed to the shower.
I didn’t understand what was happening. I kept thinking throughout the shower. The fact that I wasn’t comfortable with Juliet’s presence in Roman’s life was weighing on me, and for so many reasons, I felt her confession was odd.
Kelly and I met up in the dining and tried out Madeline’s cookies. She was simply the best cook I have ever seen and Kelly didn’t think less.
” You should try this one too.” She brought us another plate when we barely touched the previous one. ” Madeline.”
” Do you know Juliet well enough?” I suddenly asked, curiously. ” I do, even though not all that well, but I know how sweet she was as a little girl and was also close with Roman more than anyone else in the pack.” I guess I knew that already, not like it makes me feel any better.
” Was she just close to him?” I didn’t know what I was trying to find out, but her actions made me curious.
” I don’t know what it is that you are trying to find, but I will suggest you talk to Roman and clear all misunderstandings.” she sounded casual, but I knew she had noticed my distress.
I nodded even though I wasn’t intending to ask him anything. ” How is it?”
” I think your cooking is simply the best,” Kelly said with her mouth full. She seemed to be having the best fun of her life, obviously more than I was.
” I won’t mind taking another plate.” She winked and Madeline laughed. ” You are welcome here anytime. ” She picked up her empty plate.
” I hope Bella isn’t going to be jealous.” Her laughter bloomed in the room and my phone suddenly started to ring.
The caller ID wasn’t one I was familiar with but I decided to pick it up until Roman’s cold face pulled over at the door, his eyes staring directly at me.
