Such an obvious thing, even Tilda could see it, but it seemed that only Rosalind didn’t understand.
“So, you mean I shouldn’t divorce him?”
“Of course not! Mr. Walters hasn’t mentioned it, and he’s still holding on. Why would you give up?” Tilda patted her shoulder. “I can tell that your path is difficult, not just because of Mr. Walters’ mother, but also because your mother is hard to convince. But since you’re together, you should both make an effort. Even if… even if you end up parting ways, you won’t regret it when you look back.”
Rosalind pressed her lips together, her voice dry.
“But my mother’s illness…”
“Rosalind, you’ve been earning money, supporting the family, and paying hospital bills since you were old enough to understand things. You should live for yourself at least once!”
Rosalind blinked and remained silent for a long time.
…
Audrey woke up again in her hospital bed, and the doctors almost wanted to hang a banner in her room saying “Don’t let her get emotional.”
After another round of reminders, the doctors finally left.
Caesar tightly held his wife’s hand and sighed in relief. “You finally woke up. You really scared me!”
Audrey glanced at the people around her bed and deliberately called Sirena over. “I’m fine… Good girl, you’ve been wronged…”
It was clear that she was hinting at Ulric, and everyone could see it.
Sirena awkwardly smiled and leaned down to whisper, “Ulric is very worried about you too. You should talk to him.”
“He probably just wants me to die quickly so no one will stop him.”
The atmosphere in the room instantly dropped to freezing point.
Ulric knew exactly what his mother was doing. His tall figure paused for a moment before he turned to leave.
His father suddenly called out to him, “If you walk out of this room today, you will no longer be my son!”
Sirena didn’t expect things to escalate this far. She quickly stood up to mediate and gave Ulric a look.
“Ulric just wants to go out and buy some fruit for you. Don’t overthink it! She’s his mother, how could he not be worried?”
“Is that so?” Caesar also looked at him.
Time ticked by until Ulric’s deep, hoarse voice broke the silence.
“I’m going out for a smoke.”
He strode out without acknowledging Sirena’s attempt to smooth things over.
Audrey closed her eyes in anger. “Even if I don’t recognize him as my son anymore, I must have Sirena as my daughter-in-law.”
“Don’t get upset. I’ll talk to him again,” Caesar said, trying to comfort his wife.
Sirena also chimed in, “Your health is the most important thing right now! Everything else is minor. Besides, I just returned from abroad and haven’t spent much time with Ulric yet. If you push him too hard, it will backfire! How about… you give us some time?”
“He hasn’t broken up with that Rosalind yet. How could he focus on you?”
“Then I’ll find a way to make them break up.” Sirena smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry, these things take time! I promise you, I won’t marry anyone else in my life, I’ve set my heart on Ulric!”
Perhaps these words touched Audrey’s heart, and she finally smiled.
“You’re the only one who can comfort me! That Rosalind isn’t even fit to be a cleaner in the Walters family!”
