“He is Tilda’s cousin, and he takes good care of me.”
“That Ulric, cut ties with him immediately,” Eva said, thinking of the woman who had just come to see her, feeling a surge of anger.
The woman’s arrogant demeanor made Eva want to stomp her into the ground!
With such a family, she would never agree to let her daughter marry into it.
“Mom, I’ll handle this. You don’t need to worry anymore. The Walters family won’t bother you again.”
“Is that what I care about?” Eva looked at her, her tone filled with helplessness and displeasure. “I care about you.”
Rosalind lowered her head. She didn’t want to discuss Ulric much in front of her mother because there were things she hadn’t figured out herself.
Of course, Eva noticed her avoidance.
“Rosalind, have you fallen for Ulric?”
“…” Rosalind was startled, “No, I haven’t!”
“Really?” Eva’s eyes scrutinized her daughter’s face as if trying to see through her.
“Mom, we are from different worlds. Now you know that the Walters family’s threshold is not something I can cross. I am very clear about that, so I won’t have any unrealistic thoughts about him.”
She said this not only for her mother but also for herself.
Anyone could see the gap between her and Ulric, it was more than just a world apart.
“It better be that way.”
For once, Eva did not aggressively force her daughter to make any promises but simply nodded lightly.
…
After returning to her ward, Audrey immediately called Sirena.
“Don’t worry, dear. I went to see Rosalind’s mother. From the way she looked, she probably doesn’t even know what her daughter is up to! I warned her not to dream of her daughter marrying into our family. Over my dead body.”
Sirena’s voice on the other end of the line was gentle and soft. “You went there so abruptly, Rosalind will definitely tell Ulric! When that happens, it will affect your relationship with him, which is not what I want to see… I shouldn’t have told you anything.”
Her words were clever. By saying this, no matter what happened next, Audrey wouldn’t feel used by Sirena but would think Sirena was very considerate and cared about her relationship with her son.
“If you hadn’t told me, how would I find a way to push Rosalind away? Sirena, tell me honestly, do you like my son and want to be my daughter-in-law?”
“Of course I do,” Sirena said halfway, then lowered her voice with a hint of helplessness. “I’ve considered you and your husband as my own parents for so many years. I want to be part of the Walters family, but I don’t want Ulric to give up on his beloved.”
“Even at this point, you’re still thinking about him. My foolish son is really blinded by that Rosalind!” Audrey hadn’t finished speaking when she suddenly heard the ward door open.
She looked up to see Ulric coming in!
Audrey instinctively wanted to hang up the phone, but her son quickly walked over and snatched the phone from her hand before she could.
He moved so fast that she didn’t even have time to hang up…
Ulric’s handsome face was cold and stern. He glanced at the number on the screen before putting the phone aside and speaking in a deep voice.
“I will never marry Sirena. The one I want has always been Rosalind.”
