Kieran was quite diligent, reporting every detail about Callie’s actions to Nelson without omission.
Callie met Jaquan at the airport on her way to Ylosea.
It wasn’t a coincidence. Jaquan had called her, saying, “I’m going to London tomorrow. Do you have time to meet now?”
Callie hesitated for a moment, feeling a bit troubled. “I’m at the airport now, with a flight in forty minutes.”
“No problem, I’m coming over.”
When Jaquan arrived, Callie was in the airport lounge eating a bowl of noodles, looking elegant and serene from the side.
Sitting next to her was a man with a casual demeanor, Kieran.
Nelson called just as Jaquan sat down.
“I heard you’ve been following Shamar lately,” he stated calmly.
Callie felt a bit guilty but was prepared, knowing he would find out sooner or later.
“Yes… we have some project overlap. I’m planning to go to Ylosea with him now.”
Nelson remained calm and even asked, “Do you need my help?”
Callie stared at Jaquan, who was playing with prayer beads in front of her. “No.”
Her response was firm. Nelson chuckled, “I’ll be waiting for your good news in Ylosea.”
As she hung up, a staff member brought a bowl of beef noodles and placed it in front of Jaquan. He picked at it with chopsticks. “A hundred eighty-eight dollars for beef noodles, and there are only two slices of beef. Might as well rob me.”
Callie rubbed her forehead and glanced towards the restroom. “Mr. Scott, what exactly do you want to say? I don’t have time to waste.”
Jaquan wasn’t in a hurry. He took a big bite before speaking. “Lucia isn’t in Ylosea. No need to go.”
“Not there?” Callie was surprised. “But all the information I’ve gathered says she’s attending this meeting.”
Jaquan looked at her with an amused expression. “If Nelson doesn’t want you to know something, do you think it would be that easy for you to find out?”
She frowned. “What do you mean…”
He continued eating his noodles.
It meant that all the information she had gathered recently was deliberately leaked by Nelson. He knew what she was doing and let her get involved.
Realizing this, Callie felt a bit defeated.
“I just don’t understand why he wouldn’t let me know. I just… want to help him.”
Jaquan elegantly wiped his mouth with a napkin. “My flight is about to take off. Goodbye.”
At that moment, Shamar also came out of the restroom and saw her sitting there in a daze. “Shall we go, Callie?”
“… Forget it, let’s go.”
She decided to treat it as a break after being busy for so many days.
Shamar had done a lot of preparation work, designing many plans and strategies and anticipating various issues they might face with investors. As expected, Callie didn’t see Lucia’s presence.
But she never expected to see Dale at the banquet.
The spirited old man wore a hat that revealed some gray hair and held a cane in his hand. He stood not far away, giving Callie an almost eerie smile.
Callie wore an off-shoulder evening dress today. Seeing Dale, she paused her steps. It was too unexpected. Why was Dale here? Many questions formed in her mind but remained unanswered.
She realized this trip might be more challenging than anticipated.
“Callie.”
Just as Callie finished talking with an executive and was lightly sipping from her wine glass, a slightly hoarse voice reached her ears. She froze, her posture exceptionally graceful.
