Back then, fear gripped every resident of Hiphia. As time passed, news about the murders gradually faded, and the matter slowly settled.
There were many rumors regarding Damian Morgan’s whereabouts. Some said he had been shot, while others claimed he had vanished without a trace.
Eventually, the authorities provided an explanation, announcing that Damian Morgan had been apprehended. This news caused an uproar in Hiphia. Residents could finally live in peace, no longer living in constant fear.
After that, Damian Morgan’s name slowly faded from people’s memories, and life returned to normal.
However, the legend of Damian Morgan still circulated among the people. Whenever children misbehaved, the elders would warn them, “If you don’t behave good, Damian Morgan will come for you.”
“Seriously?” Gerry, Marlon, and Cutler had barely recovered from the shock of hearing Leonel mention Damian Morgan’s name when Gerry’s granddaughter, Karis, asked curiously.
“Damian Morgan! You mean that infamous Damian Morgan?” Karis stared at Leonel in surprise.
Leonel nodded without hesitation, “Yes, that Damian Morgan.”
“Isn’t he dead? How could he come back?” Karis asked, bewildered.
Leonel let out a sneer and replied chillingly, “He did die, but he crawled back out of hell.”
One would have expected Karis to be terrified, but instead, she asked excitedly, “Uncle Leonel, can I handle this matter? Could you introduce me to this legendary figure? I’ve always wanted to meet him.”
In Karis’s mind, Damian Morgan wasn’t a demon but a legend. Every time she heard stories about him, she couldn’t help but feel admiration. It was a twisted worldview, different from that of ordinary people.
“Absolutely not!” Gerry spoke first, then sternly commanded, “Karis, go do what you’re supposed to be doing! This is none of your concern. Now, leave this room.”
“But Grandpa, I’m an adult now, and-”
“Shut up!” Gerry snapped, “Leave immediately!”
Karis pouted and reluctantly left the room, but she cast a pleading glance at her Uncle Leonel before exiting.
After Karis left, Gerry sighed and asked Leonel, “You know what kind of man that Damian Morgan is, right?”
Leonel nodded solemnly, “I do, Dad! Don’t worry, he won’t do anything to our family. Although he’s a bit strange, the events of those years weren’t exactly as we thought.”
“How do you know?” Gerry narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Leonel.
Leonel hesitated for a moment before confessing, “To be honest, I’ve known Damian for quite some time.”
Gerry was stunned. “What’s this all about?” he asked.
Leonel replied, “Dad, back then, the Clark family’s head accused Damian of having an affair with his wife. Damian never did it and couldn’t tolerate being wrongly accused. So, he had sex with Mrs. Clark in front of the Clark family’s head. Later, he forced Mrs. Clark to kill her husband, and some members of the Clark family walked in on them. Left with no choice, he killed everyone there.”
Hearing this, Gerry snorted. “No matter the reason, what he did was wrong.”
“It’s not the point. The point is, he’ll be the one handling the Adams family!” Leonel’s tone suddenly turned icy as he stared at Gerry with a faint smile in his eyes.
Gerry was taken aback. “What do you mean?” he asked.
Leonel pondered and then said, “The Adams family definitely has someone backing them. If we don’t take some drastic measures, how will we make them show their true colors? I mentioned Damian Morgan to you to explain that he’s not a lawless demon. As long as things are done within the rules, he won’t harm anyone.”
“If you’re confident, then do what you must!” Gerry finally relented and agreed.
A few days later, Kayden and Greedy Wolf had been in Inassea for some time. During this period, Kayden hadn’t been idle. He searched for places that could help him recuperate and recover his strength. Meanwhile, Greedy Wolf used his free time to investigate the whereabouts of the mysterious organization. Additionally, they had a shared goal-to wait for the head of the Henderson family to return.
On this particular day, Kayden walked into a popular restaurant. It was a Chinese restaurant, and its dishes suited Kayden’s taste perfectly, so he had dined there for several consecutive days.
While he was eating, he overheard a conversation at the neighboring table. A man and a woman were seated close enough that Kayden could clearly hear their exchange. Judging from their demeanor, it appeared to be their first meeting.
“Ms. Taylor, I’ve already learned about your situation. You’re raising a child on your own, and I completely understand that. In fact, I love children. I heard it’s a girl, which makes me even happier. Now, let me formally introduce myself. My name is Marcus Aurelius-yes, like the Roman Empire’s Philosopher-emperor Marcus Aurelius. I’m a department manager at a publicly listed company, with an annual salary in the millions. I also purchased a three-bedroom apartment in downtown Inassea with full payment. Here’s my business card.”
“Mr. Aurelius, you’re so accomplished! To have achieved so much at such a young age!”
“I just know how to work hard, and I don’t like to be looked down upon.”
“I don’t have many requirements. I just want someone who can provide security for me and my daughter. As long as you treat us well, everything else is negotiable. I have a good impression of you and find you reliable. Of course, the final decision will depend on my daughter’s opinion. You know, if she doesn’t like you, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
“That’s totally fine. By the way, may I ask, why isn’t your husband around?”
The woman hesitated momentarily before speaking slowly, “He was a soldier. Ever since he enlisted, he never came back.”
Her voice weakened as she finished her sentence.
Marcus spoke softly, “Ms. Taylor, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up this topic.”
Before the woman could respond, her phone suddenly rang. She stood up to answer it and left the table.
As she walked past Kayden, her silhouette was quite captivating. She was wearing a pencil skirt paired with black stockings, and a blazer-like jacket on top. Her stride was confident and graceful, showcasing the demeanor of a strong, independent woman. Such a figure would never disappoint anyone. As for the man, he was quite handsome, and naturally, a man like him wouldn’t choose a plain-looking partner.
Based on these observations, Kayden knew that lady was most likely a beauty.
