“Hey, Mom and Dad, did you miss me?” Kylie chimed as soon as she entered the Lawrence Mansion. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence were having their evening coffee in the living room. Their faces lit up when they heard the voice of their beloved daughter.
“Kate, you are back. I missed you a lot honey,” Mrs. Lawrence said and went ahead to hug her.
“You just saw her this morning, Aunt Lily,” Alan said leaning against the door frame.
“How could I not miss my precious daughter? I haven’t seen her for twenty years. When I found her after all these years, you are taking her away again,” Mrs Lawrence complained to Alan. She wasn’t happy that her daughter was going back to New York. She had searched for her dear daughter for two decades after her kidnapping, Now that she’s back after going through the dark part of her life, she should stay with her parents and enjoy a blissful life instead of going back to get revenge. Mr. Lawrence knew well what was going through his wife’s mind so he decided to join in their conversation.
“I am so proud of you, Kate. Congratulations on your successful show. You are a talented designer and have a good vision for business. It would be great if you had taken over my business. You don’t need to go through all those hassles. Can’t you just leave it?” he asked his daughter. He didn’t want to put any pressure on her, nor did he want to let her go.
“Dad, you are still young and I am only going for six months. Once my new branch is launched there, then I will come back to help you, it’s a promise. Also, you and Mom can come anytime to visit me,” Kylie said and hugged her father. Her parents had gone through a lot and it was normal for them to be afraid to lose her. She would definitely return to them once her revenge was done.
“Okay, do whatever you want to do. Just remember, your father can turn this world upside down for you. If you face any trouble just give me a call,” he said kissing on her temple. Kylie nodded to him and grinned widely.
“Uncle Mark, I always thought you loved me the most,” Alan whined like a spoilt brat and everyone started laughing.
“You were just a substitute for me. Now that I am back I would snatch everything from you,” Kylie winked at Alan. He made a pained expression and joined in their laughing.
“I would be glad to give everything to you, little monster,” said Alan before pulling out the ringing mobile from his pocket. He smirked seeing the caller ID displaying on his screen. He then showed his mobile to Kylie.
“Told ya,” he said to her and swiped right to accept the call.
“Hey man, long time,” Alan said placing the mobile on his ear walked to the back garden gesturing something to Kylie.
“Kate, I have arranged a party the day after tomorrow for your success and wishing good luck for your journey to New York,” said Mr. Lawrence.
“Thanks, Dad. I love you both,” Kylie said and hugged her both parents.
In New York…….
“Alan, I haven’t seen you much after Kylie’s accident,” Sebastian wasn’t someone to beat around the bush. He asked directly to Alan.
“Yeah, I heard about her accident. I am sorry man, I didn’t know she was wife. Sorry I couldn’t attend the funeral, I have been traveling to different places for my shooting. You know I am a global star,” Alan said as if it was a matter of fact.
“There wasn’t any funeral for her, she’s still alive somewhere,” Sebastian said frowning, his voice filled with coldness. It didn’t surprise Alan at all.
“Is that so? I heard she’s dead in a news few days ago. Then I guess it was a rumor. So where is she now? I would love to meet her,” Alan said with excitement laced in voice.
“The girl walked on the ramp with you, she looked so much like Kylie. I am surprised that you didn’t notice the similarities,” Sebastian said and waited patiently for Alan’s response. Alan was long prepared for something like that so he didn’t flinch a bit before replying.
“You mean Kate? She is my cousin. You know my uncle Mark, she’s his only daughter. She was the reason I was following your wife. They look so much alike. I knew you would say the same. Do you remember when I last visited Kylie in the hospital? I told her I would take her somewhere, I was talking about bringing her here to meet with Kate,” Alan said and then sighed before continuing, “It’s sad that she met that accident before I could bring her here.”
Sebastian kept silent for a few minutes. He didn’t know what to say. He pinched the space between his brows before replying to Alan.
“Let’s meet when you come to New York,” Sebastian said.
“Sure man, I was going to call you after reaching there. Kate would need your help to build her new branch there. After all, it is your territory,” Alan said.
“Okay, I will wait for your call,” saying that Sebastian disconnected the call without giving Alan any chance to respond. Alan smirked from the other end of the call before returning to the mansion.
Sebastian watched the video again. He knew Alan’s uncle Mark had a daughter. But was it just a coincidence that she looked so much alike to Kylie? Even their voice was similar. He dialed another number from his contact list.
“Investigate Kate Lawrence, I want every information about her,” he ordered as soon as the call connected.
“Okay boss,” replied the person before hanging up the call.
“I would find out if you are really Kate Lawrence or my Kylie. And if you turn out to be my wife, I would make you mine at any cost,” he muttered looking at the photo of Kate Lawrence on his tab.
