“G, she is awake…” He informed his partner who was at the other end of the spacious room.
“She is what?” His partner, G asked in disbelief, “it has only been two hours.”
He marched forward to see it for himself if she really was awake. Behold, her eyes were open with a faint gaze, steady on the other guy.
Ivy was trying to comprehend her surroundings, mainly the people staring down at her. “Where am I? Who are you?” But then she felt a dull headache causing her to wince, clutching her forehead.
The two men exchanged looks, surprised by her sudden awakening.
“Did you give her the exact dosage I asked you to?” The guy G, who seemed to be the leader, gave the other a stern look. “Did you?.”
“Yes… I did… The exact amount… I think…” Though he told him so, he wasn’t so sure himself.
“You fool, I told you to double the pills. Did you or not?” His gaze was fierce, piercing into his partner, making him step back in fear. “I didn’t, cause I thought you said…” Before he could say the rest, a heavy punch landed on his face causing him to stumble backward.
“I gave you just one instruction and you couldn’t do it right. F*ck, boss will be mad.” G groaned stumping his foot on the ground in anger, but Ivy’s early awakening will be the least of his problems because as soon as his eyes trailed down to the wall Ivy was leaning on, he was shocked to find it empty. His eyes darted around the whole place; she was nowhere to be found. “Where is she? WHERE IS SHE?”
The other was just as clueless. “I… don’t know.” He shrugged, still not making a move to find her.
“GO FIND HER, MAKE SURE SHE DOESN’T ESCAPE!” His words sliced through the air, stimulating the other to dash out of the room.
Meanwhile, Ivy had already made her way out of the warehouse. At first, she was befuddled. Waking up only to find two guys dressed in black exuding a menacing aura jolted her to realize how dire her situation was. Most of all, their conversation triggered her to act on her instincts, making her understand that she must have been drugged. Their argument created a chance of her escape, and she made use of the opportunity, determined to go a great distance as much as possible to find help.
Ivy ran as fast as she could, powered by the aidful surge of her adrenaline, strengthening her leg muscles for the race. Her heart pounded on her chest, as she kicked her feet off the ground. She didn’t bother looking behind her as she was certain they were after her.
Finally, she hit the main road. Fortunately, there was a red car approaching. She quickly ran to the middle of the road to flag down the car, waving her hands, jumping up and down to express her desperation for a ride away from the kidnappers.
“Stop, stop, stop…” The car halted in front of her, and she hastily got to the door. “Please help me, some guys are after me…” It was evident she was in dire need of a ride to escape.
The woman didn’t spare her a glance, silently gazing at the windshield.
Ivy let herself in and clasped the seatbelt. “Thank you very much.” She heaved a deep sigh in relief and glanced at her savior. The woman was wearing a hat, which shaded one side of her face, blocking Ivy’s concrete view.
Ivy peered closer to get a detailed view of the woman’s face. Her rosy lips were pursed, twitching slightly as her fingers were tapping on the steering wheel.
‘Why does she seem familiar?’ She felt she had seen her before but couldn’t pinpoint where and when they had met.
“Have we met before, you look familiar.”
The woman didn’t respond nor turn to face her.
“Um… hello…” Ivy tilted her head, waiting for her response or any sort of gesture if she was too focused on driving that she couldn’t let her gaze falter from the windshield.
The woman still ignored her, which was an odd attitude. She brushed off her suspicion and relaxed on the leather seat, staring at the window. The night was bitterly chill, making goosebumps appear all over her skin.
While she stared at the window, thoughts crossed her mind. ‘Where will Susan be? We were on our way to the hotel when I slept off…’ Her heart skipped a beat. If she was kidnapped, then what about Susan, was she kidnapped too? Worry drastically enveloped her mind, her heart throbbing, silently praying for Susan’s safety.
“Please, I need your phone, I want to make a phone call…”
She requested, expecting the woman to lend her the phone lying on the console beside her. “Please…”
Still, no reply from her, but her lips tugged with a faint smile.
Ivy, thinking that was a yes, took the phone but was immediately stopped by the woman. “Drop my phone…” The rudeness, from her tone of voice, made Ivy obediently place the phone back on the console. “I’m sorry…” She apologized but couldn’t help glancing at her again; she was certain she had met her before.
A few meters away, a handful of police officers were seen standing on either side of the road.
Ivy smiled in relief; the police could help her out of her situation. “Please stop me there…”
To her surprise, the woman by her side completely ignored her and bent in the other direction.
A sudden realization struck her; what if she is one of them? Her behavior from the start was odd, and now she changed direction immediately she sighted the police. “I said stop me here… are you deaf?” She yelled, her voice laced with fear, slowly thrusting her heart. She began to regret not yielding to her intuition. Now she understood why she was acting strange.
“Who are you? What do you want? ANSWER ME!”
She demanded with a firm tone. “I SAID ANSWER ME!”
Yet her words fell on deaf ears; she could see a smirk curve up the woman’s cheek. Slowly Ivy began piecing the pieces together.
The voice sounded like an arrogant female she once knew. To confirm her suspicion, she swiftly flung the hat away from her head, revealing the face underneath the disguise.
“Isabelle….”
