Tiffany was dressed in denim baggy pants and a loose blue jersey polo. She packed her hair into a lazy bun, leaving a few curly strands to fall out.
“I left some clothes in there, I will use it as an excuse to come over,” she smiled, eyeing Brent as he carried her luggage.
“When and when will you visit?” She asked, trailing besides Brent as he grabbed his keys and headed out.
“Whenever I miss you. I’ve told you, don’t worry too much, I’ll come to you okay?”
She nodded excitedly, her heart filled with warmth. Brent paused in his steps, he dropped her luggage and pulled her into a hug, “Be good, okay?”
She raised her face to meet his gaze, which was on her. Brent was much taller than Tiffany, she couldn’t kiss him directly, apart from tiptoeing or Brent bending down a bit. She smiled and tapped on her lips, “Here, kiss me.”
Brent smirked, his arms still coiled around her waist, as she pushed against his sturdy body, “Yes ma’am” he murmured, and lowered his head to capture her lips.
She blushed after he released her lips, “Brent-” she paused, looking up at him again.
“Hmm?” he hummed, brushing back the strands of hair that fell across her face.
“I love you.” She confessed, her voice coming out as a whisper, as her eyes were still fixed at his.
Brent seemed to smile, as his hooded gaze penetrated deep into her soul. “I love you too”
Tiffany’s smile grew wider and she hugged him.
“If you keep being like this, I can’t promise you’ll leave today.” Brent warned.
“Not like I want to go.” She chuckled, “Alright, alright, let’s get going.”
“Good.” He rubbed her hair, and released her waist as he picked up the luggage.
The ride to Tiffany’s residence was a few hours, but they arrived late, as a result of stopping at different malls to shop, in a restaurant, where they ate before finally setting off.
“Mom? Dad?” Tiffany called, as she walked into the house, it was eerily quiet, as if no one was there.
“Dad?”
“Do you perceive it?” Brent asked, sticking out his nose.
“Perceive what? Hmmm” she smiled, inhaling the sweet aroma that wafted into her nose.
“The kitchen,” she smiled and was about to leave for the kitchen, when the light suddenly went off.
“Jeez!” She paused,
“Mom? Dad? Brent, are you there??” She asked, fear laced in her voice as she fiddled for her phone.
She got no response from either parents or Brent, “Brent!! Hey, say something, you’re scaring me!!”
Luckily she found her phone, she was about to turn on her torch light, when she heard a loud noise behind her. She startled, and her phone slipped off her hand and fell to the floor.
“Oh my god! Who’s there?!”
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday to you…”
The lights suddenly turned on, revealing Brent and her parent’s faces, as they sang, a loving smile etched on their faces.
She gasped and covered her mouth, extremely surprised. ‘How, how, how on earth did she forget about her birthday??’
Her gaze darted towards Brent and he winked at her, “You knew about this too?” Brent nodded, and smiled.
“That’s why you took my phone in the morning?” “Mom, Dad, is this the reason you came back yesterday?”
Her parents nodded, “Oh my God, I love you all!!” She exclaimed, her eyes moistening as she ran to hug them.
“Heyy make a wish and blow off your candle first.” Her mother reminded her.
She paused, and started laughing, “A wish? Ok”
She glanced at Brent and smiled and then closed her eyes. She opened her eyes, and blew off the candle, her lips wide with a smile.
“Brent you’ll stay over right?” Freudian suddenly asked.
Brent awkwardly scratched his head and nodded, “Hmm”
“Good then, let’s go eat and celebrate.” He laughed.
Tiffany laughed, deeply excited, that Brent was staying the night in their house. When their gaze met, she bit her lips and secretly winked at him. He pinched his brows and focused on his meal.
