ANNABELLA’S POV
” Hey princess, are you ready to leave?” I looked up to see Wade standing by the door with his hand crossed on his chest.
The bell went off barely two seconds ago, and here he was; I saw the teacher sigh before he walked out of the class. ” Who is he calling?” Someone whispered from behind.”Florence, are you not going, it seems Wade is here to get you.” I heard it from my side and I couldn’t help but shake my head.
” I’ll leave you then.” She said, loud enough for the rest of the class to hear. I couldn’t believe she would still run after someone like Wade.
Weren’t I lucky to have a mate like Roman?
Well, I was lucky indeed. Think of it: Roman was good-looking and despite having all the good qualities, he never slept around. The more I think about him, the more I miss him, his smell, his presence, and mostly his touch.
He might be years older than me, but that couldn’t erase the fact that he was the best thing that could ever happen to me.
” Can you let me in?” a frown settled on my face as I lifted my head and realized I was smiling in front of Wade Jackson like a fool. ” Privacy!” I finished packing my books and headed to Kelly’s desk to get her bag.
I didn’t know why she left but I received a message from her after lunch saying she was going back home and I should help her with her bag. I hope she was okay though. Werewolves barely get sick but it wasn’t impossible.
” Did you fantasize about me?” He chuckled.
” Dream on.” I picked up Kelly’s bag and was about to head out of the class when I overheard a conversation between two of the students. ” Have you seen Kelly around?”
” I can understand what she is going through. Poor thing.” the other one said and I wondered what was going on.
Kelly hadn’t said anything to me, but I knew something was wrong with her, considering how weird she had been since morning. She even skipped school out of the blue; if you care to know, I knew Kelly to be one of those girls who hardly skipped school even though Kiran, Wade, and John would sometimes skip school.
” I will give you a ride.” He said but I politely declined. ” You don’t have to stress yourself.” I told him as I strode out through the door.” Wade, can you give me a ride?” Florence’s voice reminded me I was walking with Wade Jackson, the famous boy in Rivers.
” I hope I’m not asking for too much.” She cast me a glare that made me smile internally. She didn’t just look at me like that, did she?
“It seems someone just decided to reschedule her schedule,” I murmured and I could feel her gaze on me.
She was usually the first person to leave after school was over and the students’ Union night wasn’t an exception.
” My ride isn’t coming today, do you mind if I tag along with you?” She clenched onto his arm like a second skin.
” I think you should call your driver.” Wade said, pulling away from her, and the smile on her face immediately vanished.” But my battery just died.” She frowned.
” Can I borrow your phone then?”
Did she have to act shamelessly just to get close to him? I shook my head at how pathetic she acts around Wade. Every female in Rivers acts like Wade Jackson is some god; everyone practically worships him in Rivers, which is overrated, in my opinion.
I get that Wade was handsome and good looking but that wasn’t enough for girls to run after him like he was the controller of the universe.
I didn’t know if I was the only one who didn’t find him attractive but I was glad I didn’t.
I stepped out of the school building with a few of the girls who wouldn’t stop talking about Wade Jackson. His name seemed to be enough to make girls blush. He was the topic of most discussion among girls as if he deserved that much attention.
I stopped when I saw Zack leaning against his car. My eyes ran over the place as if looking for someone, which was indeed true, ” Why is it you?” a frown settled in my eyes, and he chuckled.” I do what my alpha asks me.” He said pushing away from the car. ” Come on, let’s go.” He collected the bags from me before walking to the other side and opened the door for me after shoving the bags in the back seat.
” Bella!” I stopped when I heard Wade’s voice. ‘ Ah, don’t tell me he is finished dealing with that bitch.’ Eve growled before pulling to the back of my head.
I doubt she would ever like him.
” My ride will be here in a while.” he assured before his eyes settled on Zack who looked like he was ready to murder.” Who is he?” He asked and I turned my eyes to look at Zack once again.
” I already have a ride, thank you.” I got inside and Zack immediately started the car. ” Let’s head to the full moon pack first,” I said and he immediately stepped on the break, cursing me to bounce in my seat.
” What the fuck are you planning to do there?”
” Don’t use that tone with me.” I almost growled and Zack turned the car towards the full moon pack without further questions.
I didn’t know why I acted that way but I wasn’t regretting anything. Maybe I was a bit harsh.
Roman promised to make up for the other day but he seemed to have gone back to his words or maybe forgotten he ever made that statement.
The full moon pack wasn’t as small as I thought it was.
Before getting to the main packhouse, you would first drive past a vase and then the beautiful landscape before finally reaching the pack.
It took us at least thirty minutes to get there, it was the closest pack to Rivers.
Their main pack building wasn’t bad; it was a huge modern structure with a five-story building.” Wait for me here?” I said as I pushed the car door open. I stared around like I was lost, I didn’t know where to move to. Omegas were walking up and down as if there was an important event taking place.
” Excuse me.” I got the attention of one of the omegas and just when I was about to ask her where I could find Kelly, I saw her walking towards me with a suitcase.
I immediately sensed something was off with her, especially her eyes. She appeared to be in so much pain, and the omegas started throwing pitiful glances her way, which wasn’t a good way to treat a beta female.
” Bella.” As I dashed towards the entrance of the building, Zackery’s worried voice called out but I didn’t look back.
” Get me out of here.” She pleaded with tears stuck in her eyes.
My eyes took in her appearance; she was dressed in an orange pant and a white shirt. ” Can I come with you.?” She pushed her short hair from her face. ” It’s okay if you can’t take me to your pack.” She immediately said and I grabbed her bag. ” You can come.” I didn’t know what the problem was but I certainly couldn’t leave her here.
” Are you sure?” She asked, and I nodded; the slight excitement that appeared in her eyes made me smile. ” I will not be a burden, I will leave after a few days.” She said while my gaze shifted to the omegas who didn’t seem to know when to stop glaring.
Their eyes glared curiously at me, but they turned to give Kelly a pitiful look. ” You are not a burden,” I said as we walked towards the car. ‘ Are you sure?’ Zack mindlinked me and I nodded to him.
As much as I wanted to know what was going on with her, I couldn’t bring myself to do more than lend her a shoulder to cry on.
‘ What do you think happened to her?’ Eve was equally worried.
As we were driving out of the full moon pack, Wade’s car came into view, and for a minute, our eyes met through the opened window, and he didn’t seem surprised.
Kelly was leaning against my shoulder with her eyes shut, but I could hear a silent sob from her mouth.
I usually read whenever I was heading back to the pack to kill time since it was more than an hour’s drive, but today, I wasn’t in the best mood.
My mind went back to what I heard back in school and I couldn’t help but get a bit worried.
After a few minutes, the car halted in front of the pack house where I spotted Roman standing with his beta.
Kelly was sleeping so I got off to talk with him.” I will take care of it, be rest assured ” Vincent said and started walking off to the the other side that leads to the woods.
” Roman..” he suddenly pulled me to himself and my eyes widened. What if Kelly was to wake up?
I tried to look back but he leaned in and kissed my nose. ” I miss you ” he whispered in my ears, making me forget that we were in an open space.
The sun might be setting but that didn’t mean darkness was approaching soon. ” You didn’t miss me?” He bit my ears and I shut my eyes.
Feeling his breath on my face, ” I did.” How could I not miss him? ” Your friend is watching.” He whispered, capturing my lips.
