Taya felt that there was something hidden in Amon’s words as if he was implying something to her.
However, she didn’t bother to ask. Amon wouldn’t tell her anyway. Amon really didn’t plan to talk to her. After giving her a reminder, he straightened his body, turned around, and left, Seeing the luxury car speeding away, Taya heaved a sigh of relief. Although she knew that Amon would come back, at least she was free for a short period of time. However, when she thought of the 3 billion, her body tensed up once again. She was still squatting on the ground in a daze when Harper called and asked her why she hadn’t arrived yet.
Taya put away her messy thoughts and replied, “I’m coming right over.” Then, she drove to Harper’s villa. Harper was afraid that Taya had not had lunch, so she prepared a lot of food and laid everything out in the small garden. Seeing Taya getting out of the car from a distance, Harper quickly called her over, “Taya, come and have something to eat.” Seeing the enthusiastic Harper, Taya relaxed a little. She smiled and walked over. Harper pulled out a chair for her and sat her down. Then, she handed Taya a bowl of chicken soup. “Eat more. You’re too thin. Harper thought that Taya had a good figure, but she was too thin. She couldn’t eat much when she was sick, but now that she was in good health, she could eat more. Taya’s heart warmed. “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”” After she finished speaking, she picked up the spoon and took a small sip. When the warm soup slid down her throat, her eyes went red.
It was one of her wishes in the past to be by Harper’s side, but she had been wandering around for so long and it had never been realized. Now that she was free, she could finally be by Harper’s side, even if that freedom may only be short-lived… Noticing the look on Taya’s face, Harper thought something had happened to her. Her expression changed and she asked with concern, “What’s wrong with you?” Taya gently shook her head. Although there were tears in her eyes, there was also a smile on her face. “Amon has returned to Aronland.” Harper was shocked at first, but then she smiled happily. “He let go of you?” Taya’s expression darkened when she thought of the agreement she signed. Every step Amon made had been planned in advance. Now, even if Amon returned to Aronland and was held back by George, there was still that agreement. He still wouldn’t let her go so easily. Being fargeted by such a meticulous person, it was almost impossible for her to escape from him… Seeing that Taya was silent, Harper understood that it was impossible for Amon to let her go just like that.
Harper frowned, and after thinking for a few seconds, she suggested, “Taya, since he’s gone, let’s take this opportunity to escape.” As long as Taya could get rid of Amon’s control, she could go anywhere she liked. It didn’t matter to Harper even if she had to go into the deep mountains and wild forests. Taya had thought about running away, but… She put down the spoon, and said to Harper, “There is something I wanted to tell you about yesterday, but I didn’t have time to say it.” Harper asked suspiciously, “What’s the matter?” Taya looked at Harper, and said softly, “Silas is… still alive.” Harper was drinking her soup with her head down, but when she heard those words, the spoon in her hand suddenly fell. In disbelief, she raised her head and looked at Taya, “W-What?” After explaining to Harper how Silas was rescued, Taya said, “I’ll take you to see him.” Harper was still in shock. Seeing Taya helping her up, Harper came to her senses and followed Taya into the car in a panic. Harper didn’t have the strength to drive, so she handed her keys over to Taya.
She sat in the front pa*senger seat, clutching her seat belt tightly in a daze. Taya didn’t bother her and drove quickly to the villa where Silas was. They arrived just as Nora pushed Silas out for a walk… Harper, who hadn’t gotten out of the car, saw the familiar figure sitting in a wheelchair. Suddenly, her tears rolled down. She opened the car door, looked at the figure, and shouted with red eyes, “Silas…” The gentle and elegant man in the wheelchair turned his head slowly, and when he saw it was Harper, a gentle smile appeared on his handsome face. “Harper…” Hearing that familiar voice, Harper was sure that the person in front of her was Silas, the person whom she had regarded as her own brother since pup period. The tears in her eyes couldn’t be stopped, and they fell down intermittently, but with her chin held high, she walked up to Silas, crying and cursing. “You b*stard, you are still alive, yet you didn’t even ask someone to tell me that! Because of you, I went to church every day to beg God to return my family to me. Do you know that my knees are swollen from kneeling, my eyes are swollen from crying, and I almost went blind…” Harper’s words made Taya go red.
Harper had done so much for them; even if Taya spent the rest of her life with Harper, it would not be enough to repay her. Silas’s pure and clear eyes couldn’t help turning red as he looked at his sister who had taken good care of him since he was a pup… “Harper, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault…” Harper shook her head and said, “I don’t blame you, I know you had no other choice.” Taya told her that the Sterling pack wanted to get rid of Silas, so how could he reveal the news that he was still alive to others? After Harper finished speaking, she looked at Silas’s legs, and tears began to well up again. Since he was a child, he was successful and looked up to. She thought that when he grew up, he would rely on his knowledge to stand at the top of the world. Who would have thought that such a proud man would have to sit in a wheelchair forever? Harper was filled with empathy and distress, “It would be nice if you had listened to me that day…” That day, she told him not to do stupid things, but he didn’t listen to her and insisted on dying for love.
Silas had been so stubborn since he was a pup, and no one could ever persuade him to change his mind. Well, his legs were gone right then. How was he going to continue living the rest of his life? Silas didn’t care about such things. He raised the corners of his lips and smiled. Harper had nothing else to say to him, so she didn’t bother to talk to him anymore. She wiped away her tears and looked back at Taya. “Taya, God heard my prayers and returned them to me. I have to go to church to thank Him…” Taya took her arm and said softly, “I’ll accompany you.” Silas parted his thin lips, but before he could say anything, Harper yelled, “You should just stay here obediently. Who told you not to listen to me?” Nora couldn’t help laughing when she heard those words. “Mr. Johnson, I thought no one could control you. It turns out that these two beautiful young ladies are your nemesis…” Silas frowned when he heard those words, “I am lucky to be under their control.” Nora knew more or less about the relationship between the three of them from Zoey, and she nodded in approval. For friendships that had lasted for many years, from childhood to adulthood, it was indeed inappropriate to use the word nemesis.
Harper glanced at Nora. She had a sweet-looking appearance which reminded her of the young Taya so she couldn’t help but look at Nora a few more times. “This is…” Before Silas could speak, Nora replied softly, “I’m Nora, and I am the nurse taking care of Mr. Johnson.” Harper nodded and smiled at Nora. “Hi, I’m Silas’s older sister. You can call me Ms. Duke.” Nora was very docile, and she called out ‘Ms. Duke, making Harper feel the similarities between her and Taya even more. That her temperament was very much like the former Taya. However, she didn’t think much about it and turned her attention back to Silas… tentic
