Chapter 543: He will always know about Gabriel’s existence

Paige walked out the door.
Bastion was standing outside, staring at her, still holding a bag of potato chips in his arms like a treasure.
Paige smiled at him and said, “Go tell Kevin that I can’t leave because of something, so I won’t see him off. If you need anything from me in the future, just let me know.”
She and Kevin had known each other for a long time, and he wouldn’t care about these formalities.
On the other hand, she had to coax this one in the family a bit, after all… AS schizophrenia gene had not yet been cured.
“Oh…” Bastion replied a little lost.
I won’t see him off.
He turned his head and glanced into the room, and sure enough, this brother-in-law-to-be was getting all of Paige’s attention. He wondered when Paige would lose interest.
Paige wasn’t paying attention to Bastion’s thoughts, and reached out to rub his head before leaving.

Paige soaked in the lab for another two hours.
This time, Dr. Clinton discovered something extraordinary again. Not only did the withered tree snow contain a special unknown ingredient, but so did the forget-me-nots. Both contained an ingredient that had never been seen before, and the effects were unknown for the time being.
Time was running out, so Paige couldn’t afford to worry about the development of the research, and she only focused on the process of making the medicine.
According to the apocryphal records, the pills could not be taken directly, but had to be developed into an incense pill that would be inhaled through the breath.
In fact, in Paige’s opinion, this was an old prescription, so it might not be impossible to take it directly, but there was no time now, and there were not that many raw materials for them to research, so they had to trust the prescription.
Paige’s gaze returned from the instrument and she glanced around. Seeing that everyone was in a poor state, looking as if they hadn’t had enough rest, she clapped her hands and said, “Okay, that’s enough for today. Let’s go have afternoon tea, then get some sleep, and then get back to work.”
Being too tired would only get half the result with twice the effort.
Upon hearing this, everyone perked up, “Thank you, young mistress!”
The group walked out of the laboratory.
Paige took off her protective clothing and walked towards her bedroom, looking out at the sea along the way. The cruise ship had already set sail again, waiting to arrive at The Capital.
She reached up to rearrange her hair and pushed open the door, “Enrico, let’s go have afternoon tea together.”
The bedroom was silent.
No one answered her.
Paige looked in curiously, but there was no one on the chaise longue. She looked around the suite, but couldn’t find Enrico anywhere.
Where could he be?
Paige frowned, took out her phone and called Enrico, but there was no answer.
She walked out and asked people along the way, but no one knew where Enrico had gone.
It was a beautiful day, so Paige walked out onto the deck and saw Alfredo standing in front of the railing looking out to sea.
Paige walked over to him and listened to her question. Alfredo shook his head, “I don’t know, the last time I saw Mr. Enrico was when I saw him see Kevin off.”
It was a while ago.
Paige was taken aback. “You mean Enrico was there when Kevin left?”
“Yes.” Alfredo looked at her in puzzlement, not understanding why she was so surprised. He just said, “Mr. Li looks aloof and speaks rudely, but the fact that he was there to see Kevin off shows that he is a very generous person.”
Generous?
Enrico? Huh?
Paige stood on the deck, as the sea breeze blew recklessly. Her eyes twinkled, and suddenly, a flash of surprise crossed her face.
Enrico could not possibly have the breadth of mind to see Kevin off.
He went… because he also had to get off at the border pier.
He obviously heard both her and Kevin’s words, and he went to the border to check it out.
No wonder he let her into the lab. She thought he was jealous, but it turned out he was just trying to get rid of her.
This man…
Paige’s face grew serious. Without saying much to Alfredo, she turned and walked inside, picking up her phone and dialing Kevin’s number as she walked.
Kevin answered quickly, “Paige?”
“Enrico got off the boat with you,”
Paige said concisely.
Kevin was probably walking over there, and there were sounds of cars on the road. Hearing this, he paused and immediately understood, “He heard all our conversations?”
“I think so.”
She and Kevin were vague when they spoke, but Kevin clearly asked her if she was willing to do it, if she could bear it. This man definitely wanted to check the border to find out what she was unwilling to do.
“So what should I do? I’ll go make the arrangements?” Kevin asked. It wasn’t difficult, after all, the border was his place.
“Okay, please…” Paige said halfway through, her voice stopping, and she reacted in time, ‘No, you don’t have to do anything.’
“What?” Kevin was stunned for a moment.
“Enrico did this on purpose,” Paige realized. ‘He suddenly disembarked at this time to throw us off balance. I can’t do anything on the ship, so I had to call you to handle it. He must be watching you secretly right now, and he can find out if you make a move.’
“…”
Kevin was speechless on the other end of the phone for a long time.
Fortunately, they were a couple. If they were enemies, it would be disastrous. They could anticipate each other’s actions, and it would be like two gods fighting, with even country A getting caught up in the chaos.
“That’s it, Kevin. The border is so big, he won’t find anything by just checking.”
The more open she was about letting him check, the less suspicious he would be.
After a couple of days of checking, his suspicions would fade.
“Okay,” Kevin said, and then thought about it and whispered, ‘Actually, it’s not a big deal if he finds out. He’ll always know about Gabriel.’
Upon hearing this, Paige’s breathing stopped for a moment.
Gabriel.
The son of her and Enrico, three years old, born and raised on the border.
And Enrico, to this day, knows nothing.
Of course, she doesn’t want to deprive Enrico of the right to know, but she still clearly remembers how Enrico said he didn’t want a child back then. He was so determined, and he hated it so much, because he had witnessed his sister die of a seizure.
“I’m afraid he won’t be able to accept it,” Paige said, her gaze dark.
She had originally wanted to cure Enrico with the medical magic and tell him the truth when they rebuilt the slums.
But then, the medical treatment didn’t work.
Now, even if the medicine for the fruit of oblivion and the snow on dead wood is developed, there will only be enough for Enrico, and it is still unknown whether the trees on Wind Island will survive.
If she tells Enrico now that after she left three years ago, she gave birth to their child alone, and that this child… also has the gray eyes belonging to the Davis family, she dares not think about what state Enrico will be in.
There is a high chance that it will not be joy.
Kevin said in silence on the other end of the phone for a long time, “You, you have the courage to give birth to a child on your own, but you don’t have the courage to tell Enrico.”
“Let’s wait until everything settles down,” Paige said. After this trip back to The Capital to settle everyone in, and after the tree on Wind Island survives and the AS schizophrenia gene is no longer a taboo for Enrico, she will dare to say it.
“Okay, but you have to be prepared, too. In case Enrico finds Gabriel, those eyes are impossible to hide,” Kevin said.
“The border is so big, it’s impossible to find,” Paige said confidently.
