As Sarah laid out her desperate pleas, she started crying.
However, this only aroused feelings of disgust within Trysta, who became so angry that she started laughing viciously. “Ha! Just who do you think you are? Do you think that I’d want someone who you’ve already sullied? If you want him, then take him away!
Sarah, I’ll tell you this again, I don’t know what you’re talking about, and I don’t know what drunken man you’re referring to! All I know is that if you really have the ability, and if you really love Frank to pieces, then you should make him sign his name!
I’ve waited so long to leave him behind! I’ve already given him my divorce papers a long time ago, but it’s he who keeps leeching onto me and refusing to make you happy, not me!
Stop following me around. You disgust me! The only reason I haven’t exploded right now is because I have a conscience. But if you keep bothering me until I snap, then you won’t even be able to imagine what’s in store for you.”
As Trysta carved those cruel words into Sarah’s heart, she grabbed Amber’s hand and turned around to leave.
However, Sarah yelled out to her from behind, “What else can you do to me? I have a home that I can’t return to, a workplace that fired me, people spit at me and put up posters wherever I go, and there’s even a strange nasty man stalking me everywhere! Trysta, you’ve already harmed me so much! What else do you want?!”
Trysta smiled. Whatever it was that she planned on doing, she certainly wouldn’t tell Sarah, so regardless of how loud Sarah yelled, it would all be for naught.
However, Amber wasn’t so hard hearted. When she turned around to glance at Sarah, she saw clearly that the previously refined, pretty, and frail girl had changed into a haggard woman with a wan and sallow mien.
Sarah cursed Trysta despondently. “Trysta, you’ll receive retribution for your behavior!”
With Trysta’s personality, even if she had already walked away from Sarah, she couldn’t stop herself from turning around and replying. “Cih, if there’s anyone who deserves retribution, it’s you. Give it some time. Your largest hurdles are still ahead of you.”
Her tone was ice cold.
Sarah trembled, still looking at her desperately.
After that, neither Amber nor Trysta dwelled on the subject because they saw Ian at that moment, and he also saw them. His car immediately pulled up by the roadside.
Amber grabbed Trysta’s hand and slowly walked over, but when the car was only a few steps away from them, something unexpected happened. Sarah rushed forward and desperately latched onto Trysta. “Don’t go! Please, help me make things clear to him. Make him go away! I’m begging you! I regret my actions now, is that enough?!”
“What are you doing? Scram!” Trysta angrily tried to shake her off, but even though she was angry, her fear was visibly apparent.
Amber thought that Trysta was just afraid for her baby, so she went forward to stop Sarah as she told Trysta, “Get in the car. I’ll talk to her first ….”
But before she could finish speaking, Trysta suddenly took a few steps back and started screaming. “Aaah!”
Her voice was so shrill that Amber and Sarah both jumped up in fright. Sarah took advantage of Amber’s shock to break free, but Trysta continued to scream.
She crouched down, grabbed her head in agony, and then quickly hugged herself, her expression clearly etched with fear, vexation, and helplessness.
At first, Amber thought that Sarah might have accidentally hit Trysta’s stomach, but her extreme behavior soon proved that theory wrong. Her next best guess was that Trysta’s emotional agitation had triggered another mental breakdown for her.
In an attempt to calm Trysta down, Amber rushed over and hugged her. “Trysta, Trysta, calm down. You’re safe.”
But Trysta just continued to scream in terror, squatting down and hugging her head.
Meanwhile, Beryl and the others had just gotten into a car and were about to drive off, but when they saw the situation, they quickly ran back out again. Two of the male colleagues supported the bewildered Sarah, and the other two jogged up to Amber and Trysta.
“What’s the matter? What happened?”
Amber actually didn’t know. All she did was hug Trysta tighter, preventing her from harming herself.
Amber anxiously lifted her head and noticed that the commotion that Trysta was causing had grabbed the attention of everyone by the door. Most of the people who hadn’t left yet were now all crowding around them, pointing and staring from the side.
This was very detrimental to Trysta’s mental state.
Amber was just about to say something when her eyes met Ian’s. He was still standing by the side of the car, just a few steps away from them. Even after Beryl and the others had rushed here from all the way over on the other side of the plaza, he was still standing at his original location, just looking at them nonchalantly.
Amber’s heart trembled. She retracted her gaze, and urgently said to Beryl, “The car’s right there. Get her into the car first!” And then she tried to placate Trysta again. “It’s fine. Let’s leave this place first, alright?”
The others tried to lift Trysta and support her as they moved her towards the car, but Trysta refused to budge. Because she was pregnant, they didn’t dare use too much force, and the situation was caught at a standstill.
Sarah was very scared. As Frank’s ex-mistress, she naturally knew that Trysta had once gone insane, and if she went crazy again … she ground her teeth, shook off the people holding her, and while everyone else’s attention was focused on Trysta, she quickly ran off.
No one could be bothered to stop her. After letting her go, they all came over to help Amber.
But what was more people going to do when they had an uncooperative pregnant woman to handle?! Amber didn’t anticipate that this would happen when they had merely arranged to get a meal together, and she was completely exasperated.
When she realized that they wouldn’t be able to calm her down anytime soon, she could only say, “Sarah already ran away. Trysta, are you really going to do this? Are you really going to oppress her even as you torment yourself? Are you really going to watch your enemy leave in joy and you yourself remain in sadness? Are you really going to be like this?”
Strangely enough, these words actually did pacify Trysta, and she slowly calmed down and regained her sanity, her tight grip faltering.
Amber took this opportunity to move Trysta into the car.
Since having too many people around could be detrimentally stimulating, Amber thanked her colleagues who had helped her and then closed the door.
The world was finally quiet once again. Ian also got into the car, but just as he was just about to start the car, Trysta suddenly cried out, “Don’t go!”
