“Hold on to me!” Leo opened his arms as wide as possible and embraced Chloe and Domingo.
Even the flashlight was floating in the water, but surprisingly, it hadn’t broken.
In that fleeting moment of light, Leo saw the wall rushing towards them like a massive mountain.
“Oh no! Oh no! The Western Xia Treasury is flooding!” someone shouted desperately in the camp, their voice blending with the sound of rain.
Upon hearing this cry, Christine, who was already anxious, quickly unzipped the tent and rushed out.
Following the sound, Christine found the person who was shouting. They were in a panic, and a crowd had gathered around them.
“What’s all this shouting about?” a stern voice came.
The person who was shouting immediately fell silent.
The crowd parted, making way for a soldier in uniform who walked in.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
“Sergeant Woods, the Western Xia Treasury is flooding!”
“Where are the guards who are supposed to be guarding the Western Xia Treasury? Who was on duty tonight?” Sergeant Woods asked angrily as he hurried towards the entrance of the Western Xia Treasury.
A group of people followed closely behind him.
When they reached the entrance of the Western Xia Treasury and saw the situation in front of them, everyone’s face turned grim.
This wasn’t just flooding!
The rain had subsided slightly, allowing everyone to see clearly that the rainwater on the ground had gathered into one place and was flowing away through the drainage outlet outside the door. It hadn’t entered the Western Xia Treasury at all. Instead, water was gushing out from inside the treasury, almost reaching ankle height at the entrance.
Most of the Western Xia Treasury’s buildings were underground. If the water on the surface was already this deep, then the underground area must have been completely flooded!
At the thought of this, even Sergeant Woods’ face turned pale. “Did anyone go inside?”
Christine hurriedly replied, “Three people went in: Leo, Domingo, and Chloe.”
Sergeant Woods furrowed his brow and said, “Domingo and Chloe?” He seemed to have ignored Leo’s name.
“Quickly get the pumps to drain the water, and call in divers to rescue them!” Sergeant Woods ordered urgently.
One person next to Sergeant Woods said, “Captain, all the pumps are down there, and it’s late. Where can we find divers?”
“What are you babbling about? If someone dies, will you take responsibility?” Sergeant Woods turned sharply and stared into the person’s eyes.
No one dared to question Sergeant Woods’ decision anymore.
Only Christine stood in the rain, staring blankly at the water flowing out of the entrance of the Western Xia Treasury.
With such a strong current, only a fish could survive.
Domingo’s colleagues also stood in the rain, feeling helpless. How could they report back to headquarters that Domingo had been buried in the Western Xia Treasury?
Soon, divers were found.
They carried specialized equipment and dived into the water through the entrance of the Western Xia Treasury.
Deep inside the Western Xia Treasury…
Leo suddenly opened his eyes to a dark space.
He released his consciousness and was surprised to find that it could only extend three meters in front of him.
Then he heard someone calling his name.
“It’s Chloe’s voice!” Leo quickly located Chloe and reached out to hold her hand.
Chloe instinctively pulled her hand back.
“It’s me, Chloe.”
“Leo? Where are we? Why can’t I see anything?” Chloe asked anxiously.
“I don’t know where we are,” Leo replied.
“What about Domingo?” Chloe coughed twice and asked.
“I don’t know. Isn’t she with you?” A sense of foreboding rose in Leo’s heart.
Using his consciousness, Leo saw a stream of green mist flowing by his side. In front of him, there was an underground river.
To be more precise, it was more like a channel big enough for two or three people to lie side by side.
Leo looked around at the terrain and saw a large stone by the water. It sloped into the water. Most likely, they had been carried here by the current onto this stone.
But how did that wall break open? Leo tried to recall but couldn’t remember anything.
At that moment, Leo’s gaze swept past a dark figure by the stone. It looked like a person lying on top of it, but only their upper body was visible.
Chloe couldn’t see anything and crawled over, leaning against Leo on the other side of the stone. “Where are we now?”
Leo guessed, “Probably somewhere in one of the underground chambers.”
Leo looked at the figure again.
This time he saw it more clearly. The person’s head was resting on the ground, black hair scattered around them like seaweed. Their hands tightly clung to the stone, and faint moans escaped their lips.
Chloe grabbed Leo’s hand tightly and asked, “Did you hear something?”
Leo patted Chloe’s hand and said, “I’ll go take a look. Stay here and don’t move.”
Leo took a step or two forward, and suddenly, the person’s head moved slightly.
Chloe couldn’t hear any movement and asked fearfully, “Leo?”
Leo softly responded with an “Hmm” to reassure Chloe before taking another step forward.
Now he could see clearly that it was a person hanging on to the stone. However, their lower body was submerged in the channel and couldn’t be seen.
Leo hurriedly turned them over. The soft touch told him that it was a woman.
“Domingo?” Leo called out in surprise.
Chloe heard “Domingo” and crawled over by feeling her way along the stone. She was much more familiar with Domingo than Leo and confirmed it with a touch to her face.
Chloe reached down to Domingo’s nose and felt her breath.
“She’s alive!” Chloe exclaimed happily.
Leo quickly pulled Domingo out of the water.
Under Chloe’s call, Domingo slowly regained consciousness.
At first, she couldn’t see anything and panicked for a moment. But upon hearing Leo and Chloe’s voices, she immediately calmed down.
Using his consciousness, Leo examined Domingo’s condition.
Domingo had long hair that fell over her shoulders, obscuring most of her face.
Thinking back to what Lily had said in camp about cutting her long hair, Leo found it somewhat amusing.
The three of them were reunited again. Apart from Domingo being weakened from being soaked in water, no one was injured.
Leo began to carefully observe their surroundings.
Chloe leaned against the other side of the stone, feeling the rough texture of the wall with her hand.
Domingo couldn’t contribute much at this point; she could only huddle close to Leo and ask questions from time to time as if it brought her peace of mind.
“This wall is really made of diamond. It was probably built using water as well. This channel was most likely constructed at the same time,” Chloe offered her opinion.
“Who would build a channel when constructing a diamond wall?” Leo asked. He knew about the layout of haunted houses but didn’t have as much practical experience as Chloe.
