CHAPTER 141
HERMES’S POV
“Yes, that one!” my eyes gleamed as I pointed at a red sexy dress the maid took out from the pile of other dresses.
I wanted to make this welcome party memorable for both Brianna and me so I decided to pick out a dress for her. I needed something that would suit my taste. A dress that’ll make her look as sexy as hell so I picked that red dress. It’ll surely do the magic.
“This one?” The maid asked to confirm.
“You bitch!” My expression hardened as I gave her a hostile glare. “Do I need to repeat myself?”
“I’m…I’m sorry…Alpha Hermes,” she stuttered a nervous apology.
“You’d better be,” I said, rolling my eyes. “Make sure she wears only that dress-nothing else. And start making all the necessary preparations for the welcome party. I need everything to be perfect,” I finished and sent her away with a dismissive wave of my hand.
“Yes Alpha Hermes,” she bowed in reverence.
Everything was going well. I had gotten Brianna back and left Sebastian in a condition that’ll leave him helpless and crying his fucking eyeballs out. It was fitting to assume I was the happiest man on earth right now.
The only thing remaining was to get rid of Brianna’s pregnancy. I can’t bear the sight of her carrying another man’s babies while she was still mine, especially if that other man was Sebastian. The thought of it alone made me want to rip him to shreds. I am the only man in Brianna’s life. The sooner he learns to accept that, the better. And I wanted Brianna to get back to how she was when I first found her-innocent, blooming like a flower, fragile, and as pure as a morning dew kissed by the first light of dawn. Those abominations that bastard put in her stomach were an affront to everything!
But I must say I’m a bit disappointed with Sebastian. From how defensive he was of her that time at Nolan’s funeral, I expected him to storm into the castle like an enraged fucking beast, looking for her and seeking to kill me. But I will use that opportunity to end him once and for all.
I had set the perfect trap for him. He was the only thing coming in between Brianna and me. The only person making her not to give in fully to my love. And I hated that. When I want something, I go for it even if I have to move heaven and earth to get it, I get it and I keep it with me forever. I will keep Brianna with me forever, and make her learn to love me like I deserve. Even if it means forcing it.
With all of Sebastian’s men dead and no one else left but him, killing him will be much easier when he comes. To make it more scintillating, I will kill him in front of Brianna. I will make her watch as I slit the throat of the father of her unborn children and drain him of all the blood in his system. That way nothing will come in between us ever again.
I was heading to my chamber to prepare for the welcome party. I wanted to look incredibly handsome for Brianna just as she would look incredibly beautiful and sexy for me. I had reached my door, about to jerk the handle to open it when I heard clumpy footsteps behind me.
Turning, I saw a fuming Hera.
“Just…just how can you do that?” She was hysterical with anger and shock.
“Do what?” I narrowed my eyes at her, maintaining a calm but stern demeanour. Lately, she’d been an ass, and I wasn’t in the mood for another one of her dramas this evening.
“How could you bring her back?” Her angry expression subsided as she answered as if defeated. “Why?… To subject her to another round of your mistreatments and tortures. Haven’t you done enough? Hasn’t she suffered enough? And she’s pregnant for crying out loud. You can’t be doing this to her. Please let her go.”
My brows raised as I stared at her in shock, scoffing in disbelief. When did she suddenly start caring about the slaves I brought to the castle? The last time I checked, she also had a hand in the mistreatments and torture as she called it.
I brushed out a scornful laugh, unable to contain my shock. “Says the mistress of mistreatments and torture herself.”
She sighed exhaustively. “That was all in the past. I’m not that kind of person anymore. I have realized my wrongs. I have changed for good and I want you to change also. This isn’t the type of life I want us to keep living. For goodness sake, stop this madness. Stop bringing in innocent girls and putting them through hell. Stop supplying that auction with young Omegas that have lives to live and dreams to achieve. If we work together and manage to convince the association, perhaps we might bring an end to it.”
Stunned to the core, I gave my sister a round of applause, impressed by her compellingly heartfelt speech. “Perhaps you should run for the position of Alpha Queen first of her kind,” I said in cold sarcasm. “Seeing you act all caring and empathetic makes me want to throw up. If you have nothing better to do with your time, I suggest you go get married or better still, go for a vacation ’cause you look like you really need one.”
I opened my door, about to go in when she called me again.
“Hermes…”
I pressed my lips tightly together in frustration, resisting the urge to take it out on her.
“You just don’t know how to give up don’t you?” I lashed at her, eyes boring into her. “What the fuck is your deal?…”
“She’s heavily pregnant,” she remarked sadly as if I weren’t aware of Brianna’s pregnancy, cutting me off. “Whatever you want to do to her, just know she might not survive it.”
“That’s none of your business, Hera,” I smirked in reassurance. “I have a plan. So go away,” l jutted forward and said to her face.
“What plan are you talking of?” She asked, her brows furrowing as she was suddenly alarmed.
But I didn’t answer.
“Hermes…Hermes…Hermes answer me!!….”
She kept calling. But I ignored her and simply went inside, shutting the door behind me. She kept banging against it, jerking the handle wildly, but I went into the bathroom to take a shower. Eventually, she’ll get tired and stop.
*****
About a couple of hours later, I was done getting ready. I was standing in front of the mirror, adjusting my bow tie when I suddenly heard a series of loud, disturbing knocks on my door.
I puffed out a sharp breath, snarling in frustration. I thought Hera had left already. Why did she come back? But the voice that sounded from outside the door proved it wasn’t her. It was…. of the maids.
“Alpha Hermes please open up!” She cried out in panic, knocking desperately on the door as if she were chased by something. “Something has happened…”
My brows pinched in confusion and I rushed to open the door.
“What is it? What happened?”
“It’s Miss Brianna,” she managed to say through laboured breath. “She’s not in her room anymore…I think she’d escaped.”
“Brianna…escaped…how?” I asked, tormented by confusing thoughts and emotions.
“I came to her room to bring her down for the welcome party but when I got there, the door was unlocked and she was nowhere to be seen,” she explained.
“Quickly, tell my guards to secure all the exits in the castle. I’m coming,” I ordered, and she left immediately before I rushed to the top of the nightstand to grab my pocket knife.
Brianna is always testing my patience. I have done my best, but my best can never be enough for her. Everyone has their limits, and she has just pushed me to mine. This time I won’t be lenient or merciful to her. I will teach her a lesson she’ll never forget for the rest of her life.
