Nicholas POV
“What do you mean by she’s nowhere to be found?” I asked, dropping my suitcase abruptly on the floor and I took the stairs and rushed upstairs.
“Honey” I called out but the silence that followed my voice indicated that Monica wasn’t here. “Where was she before you found out she was missing?” I asked, my voice thundering in the living room as I took the stairs back down.
“It was at the shopping mall, sir. She said she wanted to go to the spa and that we should wait behind. I hesitated at first but she threatened me about my job and I stayed put in my position” Oscar said, his haze fixed on the floor
“Then what happened? Didn’t she come out of the spa?” I asked, trying to get a clear picture of their narration which did nothing but piss me off.
“We both waited patiently outside, as soon as she walked through the door to the spa section in the shopping mall. We waited for about an hour and she didn’t come out. Oscar suggested we confirm if she is still in but when we did, we were told she left forty minutes ago” Austin explained and I held my hand back from landing a punch on his face.
“so what are you trying to say? That my wife grew long wings and disappeared into thin air?” I yelled, glaring at Oscar and Austin.
“We are sorry sir. We looked everywhere but couldn’t find her. We came home to check if she was in and that was when you walked in at us” Austin said, his deep voice trembling slightly as he fixed his gaze on his toes.
“Sorry isn’t going to find my wife Oscar. Sorry isn’t the solution right now” I roared, glaring at both of them “This is what you’re going to do. You’re going to leave this place now and not ever show your face here till you find her, am I understood?” I said, my voice sharp and firm as I stood in front of them fearlessly.
“Yes sir” they responded in unison
“Get out” I yelled, and they took to their heels in fear.
I dipped my hand into my pocket and quickly dialed Monica’s phone which was switched off. “Ahh,” I groaned, running my hand through my hair as frustration and fear took over my thoughts.
“This wasn’t a kidnapping case was it?” I mutter under my breath as I begin dialing Anthony’s number at speed.
“I need your help. Monica is missing” I said as he picked up on the first ring, my voice laced with nothing but fear.
“What! How?” Anthony asked, his voice sudden and filled with shock. ” I have no idea. She was taken from the mall and her bodyguards can’t find her” I explained the situation in more detail as beads of sweat began to form on my head.
“Have you tried calling her phone?” Anthony asked.
“Yes, yes I have” I replied, my voice shaky.
“What shopping mall Nicholas? The mall Monica went to. What the name of the mall” Anthony asked.
“Elite shopping mall” I replied, panic engulfing me as I began to imagine Monica screaming in pain or even being tortured.
“I’ll be there in ten minutes. We can start by taking a look at the security footage of the place and you calling the police for assistance too” Anthony said, suggesting a good idea that I never thought of.
“Thank you, Anthony. I’ll meet you there?”
I hunged up and dashed out of the house at speed. Monica always left the kids with Aunt Ella whenever she wanted to go shopping and I knew the kids were at Aunt Ella’s place.
I quickly dialed Aunt Ella’s phone number as I proceeded to callng her and she picked up on the first ring.
“Hey aunt the kids are with you right?” I asked, attacking her with a fast question
“Yes they’re” she responded
“Is Monica there with the kids?” I asked, my heart pounding against for chest as I awaited her response, holding onto the remaining strand of hope I had left.
“No Nicholas she isn’t. Is everything okay Nicholas? You sound disturbed. Are you all right?” Aunt Ella asked, her voice laced with concern.
“Monica is missing aunt. I can’t find her” I responded, hanging up on her and starting the engine as I zoomed like a crazy man to the shopping mall.
“We are sorry sir but there is no footage of Mrs Monica stepping out of the spa” I looked intently at the video more and indeed Monica had entered the spa section through the door but never came out
“Can we see the footage of her in the spa?” I asked, my gaze fixed on the screen before me. “I don’t have access to the footage, sir. You will have to go to the spa section to see the footage. Showing you the footage alone could make me lose my job sir and I’m trying to be very careful” the man said, his voice laced with fear.
” My wife is missing and you talk about your miserable job” I uttered rudely, caring less about his job.
“Okay thank you very much for your help and time. I will give you something after all this is over” Anthony said, his voice gentle and calm as he dragged me by the arm and led me outside the security room.
“Calm down Nicholas. Yelling won’t solve anything. We just have to hope that she is alright wherever she is” Anthony said and I found some truth in his words.
Transferring aggression on everyone wasn’t the best attitude for this sort of situation. “It’s just frustrating and tiring. What if she was kidnapped and they wanted to kill her? What if she is in pain? What if she never comes back home? I’m scared Anthony. don’t want anything to happen to MonicaI I said, different scary imagination of Monica filling my head.
” She will be fine. Let’s check the spa section first” Anthony suggested as I sluggishly walked behind him to the spa section where Monica was last seen.
“Nicholas I think we should leave the rest for the police to handle,” Anthony said, crashing on the couch in the living room.
We checked the security cameras and Monica was never seen walking out of the spa and that made me even more anxious about where she was.
“I can’t Anthony. Monica could be in danger and_” I tried to say but Anthony cut me short
“And there’s nothing you can do about, it Nicholas. We have done everything we could to find her and we still couldn’t get a lead so I suggest you let the police take over from here. I know how you feel my friend. I would go crazy if Fiona ever disappeared suddenly without a trace but we’ve done our best and_”
“And we have to do more Anthony. I can’t sit back and watch something happen to my wife. I have to find Monica” I said, cutting Anthony short, strongly against Anthony’s suggestion.
“What’s going on? Why are there sirens all over the house?” We both turned to the voice from the door and I froze in shock. Was I beginning to see ghosts?
