Monica’s POV
TWO DAYS LATER
“Welcome Mrs Sterling. We are glad to have you here. Please this way” A blonde young lady smiled warmly at me as she gestured for me to follow her.
I followed behind her, leading me to the VIP reservation I made earlier. I wanted to see my mother again. I wanted to hear her out and give her a chance of forgiveness.
She messed up but she was still my mother. I had less than a month to live and I needed to get some things off my chest. I wanted to forgive everyone who has ever hurt me and move ahead with my happy life with Nicholas.
My life was slowly seeping away day by day and I wanted to die happy and contented, knowing that I was loved by the people I loved.
I entered the VIP room and sat gently on the two tabled chairs facing the curtains which separated the main restaurant from the VIP table.
“You two can wait outside,” I said to the two bodyguards Nicholas had recently hired. He feared that Greg and Ethan might do something to hurt me and he hired two hefty huge men whose muscles threatened to bulge out of the white sleeves they wore.
They were dressed in white sleeves and black trousers just so they wouldn’t draw attention to themselves and alert the enemy.
It’s funny I’m calling Greg and Ethan enemies. I learned the words from Nicholas and it has been imprinted in my brain all these while.
Austin and Oscar my new bodyguards stepped outside and I turned my hand over to stare at the watch on my left wrist.
Mom was supposed to be here ten minutes ago and it already going to be twelve minutes but no sign of her.
“Maybe she doesn’t want to see me” I muttered under my breath and decided it was best I leave. With a heavy sigh, I abruptly rose to my feet in disappointment and stepped out of the room.
As soon as Oscar and Austin saw me, Austin rushed to my stand in front of me, his eyes looking from right to left as he opened the door for me to step out.
“Monica” I heard someone call out just as I was about to enter the car I came with “I’m sorry I’m late. Are you in a hurry? Can we still talk?” She asked, her voice calm and low

“How are you doing? Have you been well? How are Mason and Macy? How is Nicholas? I hope he is treating you right” Mom didn’t even let me answer one question at a time.
“They’re all fine Mom” I replied
“Mom” she muttered under her breath as a radiant and bright smile spread across her lips “You called me Mom,” she said again, trying to digest the fact that I just called her mom
“How are you doing?” I asked, genuinely concerned about her
“I’m well and healthy but I’m sad about the past” she replied and I instantly knew what she was talking about
“About that Mom_” I tried to say something but she interrupted me.
“I’m sorry baby,” she said, her lips trembling slightly as tears gathered in her eyes “I know I abandoned you. I know I neglected you. I know I chose money over you and I’m sorry about that. I’m sorry about everything. I’m disappointed you and I am the reason your father died” she began to sob and I just sat still, staring at her with tears already gathering in my eyes.
I’ve been crying a lot these past few weeks and I was beginning to get worried for my eyes.
“I forgive you, Mom,” I said, reaching to her hand which she continuously fumbled as I rested my hand on her wrist “I forgive you. I called you here because I wanted to tell you that I forgive you. Dad is gone and won’t be coming back but we could still stay by each other side and let him smile as he watches us from heaven” I said.
She raised her eyes as her gaze landed on me “Are you serious? Do you forgive me?” She asked, staring at me in disbelief.
“Yes, mom. I want you to be a part of my life and I want you to also make up for the lost times you missed in my life. I want Mason and Macy to know they have a grandma who loves them dearly” I said, my voice trembling as I let out each word from my lips.
Seeing her one more time and speaking to her this close made the huge weight and grudge in my heart slowly disappear. I was proud of my decision to forgive her. It made my heart light a little.
She instantly went to her knees and cried even more “Thank you, baby. I promise not to ever disappoint or hurt you again. I promise to be the mother you deserve and the grandmother on and Macy need. I promise to_”
“It’s okay Mom.” I said, standing from my chair and moving to where she kneeled as I joined her by placing my knees on the cold tiled floor ” I trust you” I said assuredly as I leaned and hugged her tightly.

I stepped down from the car and just as I was about to enter the house, I saw Ethan standing in front of my house “What are you doing here?” I asked coldly, a deep frown on my face as his presence just made me furious
“How are you doing today Monica? Hope you had a nice day?” Ethan asked, his voice firm and steady
“Should I tell them to send you out or do you want to leave on your own?” I asked, pointing at Austin and Oscar whose eyes were fixed on Ethan.
“How well do you trust your husband Monica? How sure are you that he doesn’t cheat on you? Do you know Nicholas very well?” Ethan asked and my hands trembled by my side in anger.
“I trust my husband one hundred percent and I will not believe anything you say from your disgusting mouth. Nicholas would never cheat on me no matter what. He loves me” I said, my voice firm and cold.
Ethan smirked then reached into his suit jacket pocket and brought out his phone. He pressed something and stretched his hand to me with his phone on it.
“What this?” I asked, not willing to take the phone from him.
“Why don’t you take a look,” he said, his voice mischievous.
I took the phone from his hand and stared at the screen and what I saw made me freeze instantly. It was a video of Nicholas moaning in pleasure. He was on top of a woman on the bed but the woman’s face was blurred.
“I told you, Monica. Nicholas hasn’t changed his bad habit. He has always been the type to sleep with a beautiful woman and he hasn’t changed and he will never change”
