ANNABELLA’S POV
This morning I tried Roman’s number countless times but his phone was off so I called his gamma who picked up at last and told me Roman was busy at the moment. I wanted to ask where he was but he cut me by saying Roman would be the best person to tell me everything.
I jumped and hoped everything was fine though.
Madeline didn’t seem to know anything either because I heard her talking to someone on the phone and it was like whoever it was was asking after Roman.
I could not help wondering what might be going on, was the pack in trouble?
I didn’t know what to think because this wasn’t funny.
Last night I didn’t get hold of him same with this morning and when I finally did with his gamma he told me nothing. I slammed in my seat beside the dining table.” Good morning dear.” Madeline’s voice made me turn my head and when I did I saw her frown. ” You look like you didn’t sleep at all.” She asked and yes I didn’t.
Maybe because I was used to him sleeping beside me and I couldn’t take his absence. Eve was such an annoying bitch. I ended up contacting Kelly who didn’t pick up my call. I was used to him sleeping beside me every night these past few weeks and I couldn’t close my eyes for more than ten minutes.
” I can send words to the school and let them know you are not coming,” Madeline suggested but I declined the idea. ” That won’t be necessary.” The last thing I needed was Kelly to show up with her crab.
” Did you hear anything from Roman last night?” I asked and she sighed. ” No, I didn’t but don’t worry too much, he is probably dealing with something important. Maybe you should eat something first.” That was a topical Madeline talk.
” I made something delicious, I hope you like it.” Saying this she walked inside the kitchen.
She returned with a tray of breakfast and she was right, it was something delicious even though I hadn’t tested it yet.
” I will finish up in the kitchen.”
I was in the middle of breakfast when the door pulled open revealing Roman’s cold face, his scent hit me in all the right places and I felt a bit happy inside. I jumped up from my seat as my gaze stared at him not paying attention to the blonde beside him. ” Roman!” I called and he walked towards me, his left hand slipped around my waist immediately and pulled Mr to his hard chest.
My eyes shut as I felt his breath at the side of my face.” Zackery told me and I’m sorry for making you worry.” He whispered as he sniffed my neck. His voice was all that I needed to meet my heart and soul.” You left me all alone.” I whispered back tightening my hold on his jacket.
His eyes met for a short period before burying his face in my neck again.” There was something I had to take care of.” his cast left me for a while but I was busy looking at his handsome face and dreaming of running my fingers in his white hair that I didn’t follow his gaze.
“I promise to make up to you.” He kissed my ears gently and I nodded, feeling his warm breath on my sensitive skin.
My whole body jumped in excitement and relief. Last night was probably my worst day ever.
I could feel myself melting in his embrace and I was glad I wasn’t the only one who was affected by last night. I admit coming home to meet the house empty had me worried and messed up mentally, his absence and a switched-off phone was the last thing I expected.” I missed your scent.” I felt his teeth creasing my ears and I almost forgot my breakfast and everyone else present.
” I made enough food for everyone.” Madeline’s voice broke into the silent morning and I stepped out of his embrace.” Welcome alpha Roman.” She said shifting her gaze to me and I noticed the smile she was holding in.
” Have a seat, miss.” That was when I noticed her, she was a blonde and probably a bit older than I was. What caught my attention most was the bruises on her arm and the revealing dress that she was wearing which exposed her upper breasts.
Why was her face familiar?
” Thank you.” She said with a small smile as if avoiding my gaze which didn’t make me feel comfortable.
” I will bring another plate.” Madeline said turning back to the kitchen.” You don’t have to, I will eat from the same plate as my mate.” Roman said and Madeline nodded with a smile.
As Roman placed his hand on mine on the table, I unconsciously saw her looking down at our joined hands and the look on her face wasn’t like one who was pleased with the sight in front of her but that wasn’t a bother.
” Who is she?” I asked and for a second the room went silent. ” She is Juliet,” Roman said and I thought her face looked familiar.
” Juliet?” I whispered to myself as I tried to recall where I had heard the name. Not only was her round face familiar but also her name.
” I’m his step-sister,” she blurred and I turned my gaze to Madeline who was standing at the side.
The girl from my vision?
” You were right, she is alive.” Roman squeezed my hand but that didn’t make me feel any better for some reason but I didn’t let it get the better of me.
The important thing was, that Roman was with me.
” Juliet, this is Bella, my mate,” Roman said and I nodded with a smile even though she didn’t say anything.
Breakfast went down smoothly but I would feel Juliet’s gaze on me once in a while since I was having a good time with Roman by my side and feeding me, I didn’t have time to concentrate on her. I was happy that he was finally back with me again.
” I have to leave.” I said to Roman, picking up the glass of juice to have a sip.” I will drive you.” She said and I nodded with a smile. ” I will get change.” I nodded leaving the glass on the table.
” Madeline, I’m leaving!” I left my seat and picked up my bag from the other chair.
” You look younger than I thought.” Juliet suddenly commented and I turned to look at her. ” I didn’t think a hybride alpha was capable of finding his true mate.” She said and I frowned but before I could ask her what she meant Roman’s scent wrapped around me, making me aware of how close he was to reaching my side.
” Vincent will take you to the other side of the building where you will be staying from now on.” He told her as he slipped his fingers behind and entwined them.
” Okay.” She said and Roman stared at me signaling for me to move.
Silently sitting beside him in the car, I couldn’t help as my mind wandered back to Juliet and her bruised arm.” Did you hurt her?” I asked him and he chuckled as if I wasn’t making any sense and I admit I wasn’t.
She was his step-sister after all.
” I didn’t but whoever did that to her has already paid the price.” He said and I frowned wondering what he meant.” How did you know she was Juliet?” I was curious, not that I doubted it.
” I believed your words and ordered Vincent to investigate it.” He replied but I didn’t know if it was the answer I needed to hear. He seemed relieved and happy even though he might be laughing and showing it.” I was able to find her thanks to you.” he turned his gaze to me for a short while. A strand of his white hair lingered on his face.
” I’m glad I’m able to help,” I said looking at his side face. Good fucking looking. A sudden silence engulfed us afterward as he concentrated on the road but he would look at me once in a while as if making sure I was okay. Not like I could I look away from him.
” You mentioned a black wolf and Juliet screaming my name.” He cast me a glare but I wasn’t sure I understood anything he was talking about.
” Can you recall something else?” he asked and shook my head after a while. I only saw that black wolf and Juliet being attacked. ” What is wrong?” I could tell he was a bit disappointed.
” She was forced to work in a nightclub in Green maintains.” the car halted in front of Rivers and I opened my mouth to say something but closed it.
” So you want to know who the black wolf was?” I asked and he grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckle. ” I will find out.” he kissed my knuckle again.
” I can help.” he shook his head.” I can’t let you go through that again.” his voice was strong but pleading. ” Having you by my side is enough for me.” he leaned towards me and grabbed my upper lips with his.
” Leave it to me,” he said, his eyes glaring softly at me. It was one glare and I would see everything that happened in that mansion.
” I want you by my side.”
” We both know I need you more than you need, me,” I said and his eyes met mine before shaking his head. ” I’m afraid you are wrong.”
” Bella!” I turned my head only to see Kelly standing behind the door with a freaking smile.
