Lily’s POV
“Martin, Martin, Martin!.” Alex tsked as he stood in front of him confidently with his hands in his pocket.
“The great Alex”. Martin said sarcastically with a sneer. “Was that really necessary?”. He asked as he moved his head in my direction.
“Was what really necessary?”. Alex asked in response nonchalantly.
“The show you just put on. Was it really necessary?”. Martin said in a disgusted tone and a scrunched up nose.
“Touching my wife?, kissing and caressing my wife?, showing my wife how much I crave her?.” He said while cocking a brow. “What exactly is not necessary?.”
“All of it!!”. Martin screamed in his face, breaking his stance and loosing his composure.
“I don’t blame you. What do you know about love and having a wife?.” Martin chuckled mockingly. “Real men know that all I did and more are very necessary. It’s like I give you too much credit, what did I expect from someone like you.” Alex scoffed.
“Someone like me?.” Martin asked with shock written all over his face.
“Yeah, you should learn a thing or two from me. Take notes.” Alex said as he abruptly turned towards me and winked at me.
The abruptness of everything made it difficult for me to create my own reaction, instead my body reacted immediately to his action. I didn’t realize on time when I was smiling and blushing, before I could hide it Alex had seen me.
“That’s how it’s done”. He said with a huge smirk. I want to brush his face and my head against the gravel or any rough surface until we both bleed. I wanted to brush my head because it was my fault. I was the one that let him have the feeling he was having now and he did not deserve it . Then I wanted to brush his face just to get that smirk off. I wonder how high his ego is now.
“Oh please. You don’t have to do all that here. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Do you even care enough to know if she’s uncomfortable with these display in this public space. Do you?!.” Martin screamed.
Why did it seem like he cared so much for me but I refused to be bothered by the answer to that question.
“You don’t need to bother your sour mind about that. I’m pretty sure my princess would be glad if I fucked her over that desk.” He flashed a cocky grin at me and i involuntarily clenched my thighs.
I would be really glad.
“Enough of that!.” Martin said disgusted. “You’re speaking as if you even love and care for her. You and I know the only reason why you can call her your wife. So just stop this sick show.” He said.
That one hit a nerve. I was about to speak up to stop everything when Alex spoke up.
“I can tell you’re coming from a bitter place.” Alex paused before continuing again. “But there is something you have to understand. None of this is your business. None of it!!. And like you said, she is My wife, MINE, so get your dirty nose out of our business.” Alex roared at him.
I couldn’t help but wonder how the people in the shop were able to mind their business. None of them were even looking our way. I should really learn a thing or two from them, because if I were in their shoes, I would put every shopping on hold and follow the drama to the end. I always wanted to know what was going on.
“You can’t even say it.” Martin scoffed.
“Say what?!.” Alex asked in an irritated tone.
“You can’t even say that you love her.” He laughed mockingly. “You can’t say it because you don’t and you don’t even care about how she feels about any of this.” Martin screamed out as he turned to me and flashed me a look of pity.
I immediately looked away from him. I refused to be pitied by anyone. I may be affected by the reality or the accuracy of his statement but I refuse to let them see it.
The worst part of it all was that at the end of the day, I was just his wife and the mother of his child. Alex did not love me, maybe he couldn’t and he was making it clear by not saying it here now.
“Just shut up Martin and fuck off. What the hell are you even doing here, with my wife!!, why are you trying to clear the bill for my wife and my child, huh?”. Alex screamed each word out on purpose to annoy Martin and it was really working. I wonder why.
“Your wife and your baby, huh?, well, Mr. Husband and father of a baby, I met lily here alone. She was shopping all alone for your kid and I did what any gentle man would do in my position.”. Martin sneered at him.
“Oh please no one asked for your kindness.” Alex scoffed.
“I give you too much credit Alex. what would someone like you know about that.” Martin mocked Alex. ” No gentle man would let his pregnant wife go shopping alone for their baby, you should take some notes.” He mimicked him as his face broke into a smirk of his own.
“Fuck off Martin!!”. Alex was always known to be inpatient. He had gotten irritated and jabbed Martin, causing him to stumble backwards.
“You piece of shit!!”. Martin screamed as he charged at Alex.
They were about to get into a very heated unnecessary fight when I intervened. I had been quiet watching for far too long but it had to end. “Alex stop it.” I screamed out. His eyes flashed to mine for a second before focusing back on Martin.
“Martin please don’t do this.” I pleaded softly to Martin. His eyes softened immediately as he looked at me and halted his movements.
Alex being the crazy coward that he is used that opportunity to throw a punch at him, breaking the innocents boy’s nose in the process. I screamed at Alex as I ran towards Martin to observe his bleeding nose. “Martin are you okay?”. I asked worriedly.
“Yeah, fuck, I guess.” He groaned while glaring at Alex who had an annoying smile on his face. It was truly annoying.
“Please just go now, all these are unnecessary.” I pleaded with Martin.
“Leave the fuck alone. Let him come here so I can whoop his ass. He needs to learn.” Alex said with a mocking chuckle.
“Shut up!.” I glared at Alex before turning back to the bleeding boy.
“Please.” I pleaded. He stared at Alex for a while agreeing with a nod. “Thank you for today.” I thanked him honestly with a smile. I was glad he was there to help me out.
“You’re welcome.” He returned the smile and payed before walking out of the store.
“Run along boy!”. Alex called after him. He was really so petty.
“How did you find me?!”. I said harshly as soon as we were alone.
“Darling you’re mine and you can never hide from me.” He said with a dark chuckle before pausing abruptly and his face morphed into a very serious expression. “Never, so don’t ever try to hide from me.” He said
His words sent chills down my spine for a moment but I shrugged it off almost immediately. What could he possibly do to me.
“Oh please.” I scoffed.
“Let me handle this.” He ignored my comment and moved closer to the counter to pay for the things I got. I wanted to giggle and kick my feet up until I remembered that it was his responsibility so I shouldn’t applaud him for providing for his own child.
I stood with one hand on the counter and one hand my stomach caressing my baby as I watched him clear the bills. Still I would never forget to appreciate one thing I loved about men. They always become extremely sexy whenever they reach into their pocket for their wallet or card. It was really sexy.
“Please take these to the car.” He called out to Mr. Mark when he was done and he came closer to follow Alex’s order.
“Shall we?”. He turned to me.
“Shall we what?”. I glared at him as I asked harshly.
“You don’t want to leave?. You still want to do more shopping?.” He asked with a chuckle.
“what’s so funny?”, I scoffed. “And what if I want to do more shopping?”. I cocked my brows at him and flashed him an unimpressed look.
“Then you can baby. You can shop as much as you want with my card. There’s nothing I wouldn’t give to you. I would buy you the world if I could.” He said so softly.
That was just typical Alex. He always confused me. How could he say such words in that way and yet show me something different the next minute.
I was really tired of it.
“Okay.” I responded quietly. I did not know how else to respond to that.
He was saying that there was nothing he wouldn’t give to me but the one I desperately begged him for, he couldn’t give.
Doesn’t this prove that he just lied and he did not mean a thing he said.
Or could it be that there is an exception to that statement. Was love the exception?.
Was it so hard to love me?.
A part of me tried to fight and say that it isn’t true. I wasn’t so hard to love and it was easy to love me but then again, it has been proven time and time again beyond reasonable doubt that it was hard to love me.
My own daddy doesn’t even love me.
