Enrico lowered his eyes and wrapped a layer of bandage around her injured leg. He said coldly, “Don’t look at me like that. We’re in the middle of nowhere. I’m not going to satisfy you.”
“…”
Paige was speechless.
What does she mean by this? She just feels like it’s a lifetime ago, and she just wants to take a good look at him.
Enrico put her foot down, then lifted up the other foot. Looking at the swollen ankle, his brows tightened, “Did you hurt the bone?”
“I don’t think so.”
Paige wasn’t sure either. At first, it was just a sprain, but then she forced herself to walk on it, and she fell and sprained it several times, so it’s really hard to say.
As she thought about it, she rummaged through the first aid kit and took out a bottle of oil and handed it to Enrico, “Just rub it in a little, and then go see a doctor when we get out.”
Enrico looked at her and took the medicine, dropping it onto her ankle.
“Ssshhhh…”
Paige let out a gasp, and although she had been holding back before, the whole person was now in a state of tension, and even the medicine dripping onto the swollen area hurt.
“Does it hurt that much?” Enrico immediately looked at her, his eyes darkening.
“It’s not pain, it’s cold.” Paige snatched the medicine from his hands and said, “Go outside and collect some dead branches to start a fire. It’s too cold, I can apply the medicine myself.”
“I’ll go after I finish applying it to you.”
Enrico still finished applying the medicine to her, then carefully changed her pants. He got up, took off his snow mountain suit and covered it over her legs, then turned and left the cave.
Seeing him leave, Paige pulled open her clothes and looked down at her feet.
They were getting more and more swollen.
If she doesn’t rub in the medicated oil, she’ll still be a burden to Enrico afterwards. She can’t let Enrico carry her out of the mountain.
It’s too much of a drain on him.
As she thinks this, Paige looks at the cave entrance, picks up a piece of bandage, bites it in her mouth, pours the medicated oil into the palm of her hand, rubs it desperately until her palm is hot, then applies it to her ankle and presses it down recklessly, rubbing the swelling more vigorously to open it up.
The pain spread throughout her body like a knife.
Paige clenched her teeth and bit down hard on the bandage to prevent herself from making a sound. Cold sweat broke out on her forehead and her face turned pale.
She rubbed her ankle harder and harder, until it gradually became less painful.
She spat out the bandage in her mouth and leaned against the cold stone wall to adjust her breathing.
Suddenly, she felt something and turned her head to see Enrico standing in the cave with his arms bent, holding some dead branches in his arms, and looking at her with a stern face, his eyes as deep as if he were drowning her.
“…”
Paige’s heart tightened.
Enrico walked in and threw the dead branches on the ground expressionlessly.
“Enrico, I…”
Paige called out to him, but before she could finish, Enrico suddenly lunged at her. Half kneeling on the blanket, he reached out and pulled her into his arms, lowered his head and kissed her dry lips, kissing her fiercely.
Paige’s nerves shot, and she looked up at him, not struggling as she looked into the depths of his eyes.
Enrico sucked on her lips, his fiery tongue licking the blood-capped lips over and over again, like a beast in the mountains healing its companion.
Harsh, but also gentle.
Paige was dizzy from the kiss, and a warmth spread from her lips throughout her body. Even the numb cold gradually dissipated because she was in his arms.
She couldn’t help but lift her hands to grab his clothes and kiss him back with all her strength.
Perceiving her response, Enrico’s eyes flashed with a glimmer of light, and he kissed her more wantonly, repeatedly entwining his tongue with her protruding little tongue, lingering and lingering, as if he wanted to devour her.
After a long time, so long that Paige thought she would faint in his arms, Enrico let her go.
He circled her, staring at her with unsteady breath and unfathomable eyes, “Paige, can you stop being so strong in front of me?”
Paige’s lips were slightly swollen and rosy from the kiss. Hearing this, she looked at him and said seriously, “I don’t want to be a burden to you, and I don’t want you to get angry like you just did.”
She didn’t want to make him feel bad.
“Then just pretend I was AS schizophrenia gene just now.”
Enrico wrapped his arms around her tightly, lowered his head and buried it in her cool neck, breathing deeply the scent of her body. His low voice carried a sense of helpless compromise, “I’m not angry anymore, so don’t hide it, don’t be stubborn.”
He couldn’t bear to see her vulnerability any longer.
She was so humble.
Paige felt her heart ache as she heard this. She grabbed hold of his clothes and slowly undressed herself, whispering, “My feet hurt, I’m cold, and I’m hungry.”
“I’ve been hungry for a day, Enrico.”
Enrico stiffened, slowly released her, and saw Paige staring at him with soft eyes.
Finally, he stopped holding out.
Enrico stared at her, rubbed her head roughly, stretched out his hand and brought in the backpack. After searching and rummaging inside, he found only a few compressed biscuits.
Paige then realized that most of the contents were what she had stocked in her RV.
It seems that Enrico had entered the mountains to find her on short notice and did not have time to get more supplies. He had to use what was in her car to tide him over.
Seeing this, Paige said, “Don’t bother looking, there are only a few of these.”
“Only this much?” Enrico asked unhappily.
“Don’t underestimate these compressed biscuits. Two for each person will last until this time tomorrow,”
Paige smiled and handed him two of the bags, “Try them? Don’t say they’re bad, they’ll keep you going until this time tomorrow.”
Enrico looked at her, ‘I’ve already eaten, I’m not hungry, you eat them.”
“You really have eaten?’ Paige looked at him in disbelief.
“Mm,” Enrico said, handing her the bag and opening it for her, then opening a bottle of water and putting it next to her before turning to the pile of deadwood.
Paige bit down on a thick biscuit, chewing it without any particular taste in her mouth, purely for the recovery of her body’s functions.
Enrico squatted over there to light a fire, but after a few tries, he still couldn’t get it to light.
His expression became visibly irritated.
Seeing this, Paige picked up the bandage she had just bitten into and threw it over, saying, “The deadwood you picked up is a bit damp. Use this to light it, and it should burn for a while. You should pile the deadwood up with some gaps in between, not too tightly.”
On hearing this, Enrico looked at her with inscrutable eyes, “You know this too?”
Paige bit into a biscuit and smiled, ‘Is that impressive?”
“You know how to do that on Wind Island?’ Enrico pressed the lighter in his hand and lit the bandage, throwing it in the gaps in the deadwood.
“Mm,” Paige nodded.
The fire was lit, and Enrico got up and sat down next to her, putting his arms around her and covering the two of them with his snow suit.
The fire had not yet fully caught, and Paige leaned against Enrico’s chest, eating the biscuits, already feeling the warmth of her body returning little by little.
“Is it completely dark outside?” she asked while eating.
“Mm,”
Enrico responded, “there are more dangers in the mountains at night, and the roads are more difficult to walk on. We’re not going out, we’ll spend the night here.”
