After driving for hours with no destination in mind, Ellie finally made her way to Cheetahs. She sat at the bar with her swollen eyes, staring blankly at the vodka the bartender had served her. The club was lively and rowdy with music blaring from the speakers, almost deafening her. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, but she was the only one who wasn’t. She looked around the bar and everything had changed from what it used to be when she worked there. There were new faces around and all the old folks she worked with were nowhere to be found. She watched as everyone in the club except for her danced happily to the tune of the rhythm. She felt odd as she was the only being sitting in a corner, looking all sad and abandoned. Her gaze landed on a couple who were dancing gracefully and lovingly, and it was evident the duo was really into each other. The sight of them made her remember the first time she had an encounter with Edward. The wave of the beautiful moments they both shared together washed over her and she couldn’t help but to burst into tears. Her heart yearned for him no doubt and she really wanted to be in his arms again, but something was holding her back.
Her conscience wouldn’t let her go for what she wanted, as she felt bad for Richard. Six years ago, when her father Williams, had saved her just in time before she got killed by the doctor, he had secretly moved her to Australia to start a new life. She tried putting her past behind her, but she just couldn’t. She couldn’t bear to see the ones who destroyed her life living so happily and so, she made up her mind to get her revenge on them. She at first had thought Edward abandoned her and chose to be with Sophia. With that in mind, she came back with hatred in her heart towards the duo and planned to destroy them. It was after she and Richard resurfaced, she realized Edward was involved in a car accident and had lost his memory. It then drawn on her that she had been accusing Edward wrongly.
When she made up her mind back then and had informed her father of her intention to get her revenge, her father had supported her mission and set up a meeting for her, with the man whom she shared a common enemy with. With the help of Daniel, who had all along being in touch with Richard but pretended not to as Richard didn’t want his mother to know of his where about, Richard and Ellie met, and they set their plans for revenge in motion. Although Richard was broken himself, he still stood by her and made her overcome her sadness. He was there for her when nobody else was. Although they both had the same common enemy, Ellie knew Richard was fighting for her cause and wasn’t really interested in getting his revenge on Sophia. She saw through his feelings for her and made sure to use that to her advantage. She had taken advantage of his love for her and made him do some certain things for her, which didn’t go well with him. He sacrificed a lot for her, and she had thought it wouldn’t be so nice of her to jilt him, when it was time to repay his kindness. She was on the fence; not knowing whom to go for between the man she loved and the one who had always been there for her. She sat still in the corner, gulping cups of Vodka down her throat, trying to forget her worries and fear. Hours flew by and people at the club began to leave one after the other. In no time, everyone left, and it was only Ellie that was left at the club, still seated in her corner, gulping her vodka.
She had become drunk and was oblivious of what was going on around her. She never knew she was the only one left in the club until the waitress informed her and told her it was time to take her leave. She settled her bill and in her disoriented state, she staggered out of the club in her high heels. She got out of the club safely, but she was too drunk to see clearly. Her vision became blurred, and it seemed as if the world around her was spinning. Her head ached and slowly, she began to lose her consciousness. Her eyes grew heavy and slowly began to close, but she tried to keep them open, though it was unsuccessful. Her body swayed and she tried maintaining her composure, but she couldn’t as the ground couldn’t wait to have her in its embrace. She finally gave in to nature and just as she was about to hit the fall, a strong arm caught her, steadying her stand.
“Oh, you are ………… here …….. just as you have always been. You are ………. my knight in ………… shining armor, which is why ……… I feel bad ………… for you” Ellie said as her words slurred, to the man who was holding her from falling. She smiled lazily at him before her head drooped. Between her soft giggles, her eyelids fluttered, grew heavier, until her voice faded to a murmur, and she slipped into a deep, quiet sleep, resting her head on the man’s shoulder. The man looked at her pitifully, before carefully lifting her sleepy head in his arms and headed for his car. Getting to his car, he laid her gently on the back seat, where there was enough space for her to stretch her body. He headed to the driver’s seat and sat behind the wheels. The man was Richard. After Ellie fled from Daniel’s house, he had trailed her from behind in his car and followed her to Cheetahs. From the point she ordered her drink, to the point she walked out of the club; he had been watching over her. Watching as she cried in pain and confusion. From the rear mirror, he watched as she slept and he somehow felt guilty and bad towards her. He knew she was still so much in love with Edward, but he just couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go. She was his lifeline and letting her slip of his hands would be the death of him. Seeing her in such a state broke his heart but nevertheless, he made up his mind that it was for a good cause and that he would fight for his love interest. He was obsessed with her and would do anything it took him to make her heart his.
Starting the car and zooming off onto the road, he reassured himself that Ellie would come around and choose him over Edward. He made up his mind that if he can’t have her, then nobody else will.
