“Don’t like it?” Enrico stared at her.
“No, why did you suddenly think of designing a car yourself?” She was surprised.
“I originally planned to recreate the same car for you, but whenever I think of that car, I think of the fire, and it makes me upset. So, I designed a new one for you.” Enrico gazed at her brows and eyes, his voice deep. “But the headquarters still has the AI system. Once it’s installed, it will be similar to the previous car’s core.”
Paige was shocked. “Algo?”
“Yes,” Enrico nodded. “The AI system is directly connected to my internal network. Once I transfer the memories into the system, it’ll be like a rebirth.”
Rebirth.
Hearing that word, Paige felt a sudden sting in her nose. She wasn’t sure if it was because of the previous gifts numbing her, but at this moment, even though this was another expensive gift, it carried a sense of nostalgia that made her heart race.
She looked at the man before her, wrapping her arms around his neck with the hand holding the hand-drawn blueprint and met his gaze. “Enrico, you’ve been thinking about me all along. Thank you.” Even the car she had been thinking about was still on his mind.
Enrico stared directly into her eyes.
Ha. She was finally moved.
Standing there, letting her hug his neck, he lowered his gaze to look at her and the corners of his thin lips curled slightly. “Considering you were determined to marry me with a gun in hand, I had to give you something. Otherwise, you’d feel too unbalanced.”
“…” Paige, who had been moved just moments before, suddenly felt speechless. She really wanted to say that if she hadn’t forced him to register their marriage last night, who knows who would regret it more now. But thinking about everything he had done, she decided to let him bask in his moment.
She looked at him and asked, “The third-to-last gift was emotional. What are the last two?”
Enrico raised an eyebrow. “Find them yourself.”
“Alright.” Paige released his neck and carefully put away the hand-drawn blueprint before heading out to continue her search.
This time, she searched for a long time. She almost walked through the entire fifth floor but found no trace of any gift boxes.
The night outside grew darker.
Two gifts left.
It could only be the new bedroom.
Paige headed toward the new bedroom, with Enrico lazily following her with one hand in his pocket.
As she stepped into the bedroom, the size of the room exceeded Paige’s expectations. The bedroom even had winding stairs as a divider. Below was an antique piano surrounded by light, sheer curtains. Next to it was a simple lounge area with a curved coffee table holding several gift boxes.
Ascending the wooden stairs, she saw a large, European-style bed covered with pure red bedding. Heart-shaped candles were placed at the headboard, giving off a strong newlywed vibe.
Paige approached the coffee table, picked up one of the gift boxes, and shook it. She didn’t hear a sound.
Were the last two gifts hidden so well?
She glanced at Enrico, who was leaning against the piano, legs lazily crossed, raising an eyebrow at her without offering any clues.
She had to find them herself.
The earlier gift had piqued Paige’s interest, so she searched more diligently this time. She went from the red-themed bathroom to the large balcony, where she found an easel. She opened the waterproof wooden cabinets beneath the potted plants and found some art supplies like paints and paper, all meticulously prepared.
But where was the gift box?
Paige was so desperate that she almost wanted to pull out the plants to look underneath. After searching fruitlessly on the balcony, she returned to the bedroom.
A breeze blew, lifting the sheer curtains that momentarily obscured her vision. As Paige brushed the curtains aside and glanced up, she saw the ceiling of the bedroom was tied into a massive gift bow made of wide, pure red ribbons. The ribbon draped down, with a crystal chandelier embedded within, sparkling brilliantly like a giant, beautiful diamond.
Paige laughed and pointed up. “The whole bedroom is the gift?”
“Don’t like it?” Enrico was still standing by the piano, watching her.
“I like it.” Paige nodded sincerely, smiling. “Just from this bedroom, I can already tell how comfortable my life will be when I have some downtime.”
The bathroom had a massive massage tub, all the home appliances were smartly controlled, and there was a snack cabinet ready beside the lounge sofa. When inspiration struck, she could paint on the balcony overlooking half of the estate…
It was an ideal retirement life.
Enrico was pleased with her response. “Then you can look for the last gift.”
Paige was about to agree when she saw a glint of mischief in his eyes. She suddenly realized that as the gifts progressed, they became more significant. If the wedding room could be considered her 23-year-old gift, then her 24th…
Could it be?
A chill ran through Paige’s heart as she silently headed for the door. As she passed the piano, she was suddenly grabbed.
“Where are you going? The last gift is here too,” Enrico said, staring at her.
“I’m suddenly a bit hungry. I want to go downstairs for food,” Paige said with a forced smile.
Hearing her excuse, Enrico didn’t make things difficult for her. He took her hand and said, “Then I’ll reveal it directly. Tie this on me.” He glanced at the red ribbon tied around her wrist.
It was the ribbon she had casually tied around her wrist after removing it from her eyes.
Now, he wanted her to tie it on him…
He was clearly implying that her 24th birthday gift was himself. He would absolutely do something like that!
Recalling last night’s intense battle, Paige turned to leave, but Enrico quickly pulled her back, lifting her up from behind, biting her ear as he growled, “Where do you think you’re going?”
They were in the wedding room, and she still dared to run.
“Enrico, let me go! You know I don’t want this gift, right?” Paige struggled helplessly.
And tying a ribbon on him? She had to admire his thinking. Who gives gifts like this?
Enrico, unable to stand firm because of her struggle, fell onto the soft bed with her, creating a wave of red around them.
Enrico pressed her down on the bed, propping himself up and glaring at her. “I’m only 28, handsome, and not a single wrinkle. What’s wrong with that?”
He had given her so much, but she dared to despise his final gift?
Paige, lying on top of him, pushed hard against his chest. “Enrico, stop messing around! You promised me that if I finished inspecting the new house by 3 p. m., you’d sleep in separate beds for a week.”
“Didn’t you just finish the inspection?” Enrico, holding her down with one hand, looked up at the large gift bow above and reminded her that she had inspected the new house late into the night.
Paige stared at him in disbelief. “Enrico, you’re cheating!”
They both knew she had gone above and beyond by clearing the estate and keeping Jeremy under house arrest. And now he had the nerve to cheat?
