“I have reviewed Princess Isabelle’s medical records. Neither modern doctors nor traditional doctors can diagnose her illness,” Brennen replied.
“Unable to diagnose?” Leo frowned slightly.
Modern doctors are highly advanced, using medical technology to diagnose even diseases that have not yet manifested. If Princess Isabelle’s illness cannot be diagnosed by modern doctors, it is quite peculiar.
Brennen continued, “According to Princess Isabelle’s medical records, her symptoms are only fever and headache, with no other signs.”
“If it weren’t for her periodic fever and headaches, one could say she is completely healthy.”
“Alright, Mr. Holland, I understand. I’ll wait for Princess Isabelle to arrive and diagnose her myself,” Leo said, intrigued by Princess Isabelle’s mysterious illness.
“By the way, Leo, I heard that the vice president of the European Medical Research Society, Brier, is coming along with the Royal House of Albion.”
“Brier is known to be a staunch opponent of traditional doctors. He believes Atrarian traditional medicine has no scientific basis and is mere witchcraft.”
“He specifically followed the Royal House of Albion this time, likely with ill intentions. You should be prepared.”
Leo had a basic understanding of the European Medical Research Society. This organization holds a significant position in the international medical community, second only to the United States Medical Research Society.
Shortly after ending the call with Brennen, Fire Rose arrived.
Leo knew this WONDER beauty wouldn’t come without a reason, so he directly asked if there was a mission.
Fire Rose didn’t beat around the bush and said, “Yes, there’s a tricky situation that requires your help.”
“What is it?”
“Two days ago, we received an urgent report from the police in Y Province.”
“The report mentioned a series of mysterious deaths in Mount South Village, Redrock County, Grand Mountain. The villagers are terrified.”
“After police investigation, they found that the victims died in a horrifying manner, with their throats bitten and their bodies drained of blood.”
“Vampirism? This doesn’t seem like something humans could do.”
“Exactly. The police suspect the same,” Fire Rose nodded. “The superstitious villagers believe it’s the work of a demon.”
“They hired a so-called powerful Taoist priest to exorcise the demon. The police decided to observe quietly.”
“Unexpectedly, the Taoist priest was brutally killed on a hill outside the village that very night, dismembered in a gruesome manner.”
“Now, no one doubts it’s a demon. Mount South Village is in constant fear, and even nearby areas are terrified.”
“The local government, under pressure, ordered a massive police search of the mountains but found nothing. Instead, officers were repeatedly found dead at night, drained of blood.”
“Desperate, the local government reported up the chain until the report reached WONDER.”
Leo understood and shrugged with a bitter smile. “Fire Rose, as you can see, my clinic is extremely busy lately.”
Fire Rose sighed. “If it weren’t necessary, I wouldn’t ask for your help. We’re out of options.”
“Oh?” Leo was skeptical. “How can such a large WONDER organization not have suitable people to send?”
“There are currently some tricky issues domestically. Most of WONDER’s elites are dispatched elsewhere. We can’t ignore Mount South Village’s situation, and you’re incredibly capable…”
Leo sighed inwardly and decided to help. “Take me there.”
He regretted joining WONDER; it brought so many troubles.
The destination was a small village deep in Grand Mountain in southern Y Province.
With WONDER’s dedicated helicopter as transportation, it didn’t take long to get there.
Mount South Village was quaint with green bricks and red tiles.
Surrounded by continuous green mountains like protective barriers, the village was nestled among lush rice fields that swayed like waves in the wind.
A clear stream flowed through the village center, crossed by a beautiful stone bridge resembling a rainbow.
White geese played on the water while willows danced along the riverbank.
Such a village should have been peaceful and serene, almost like an isolated paradise.
But now Mount South Village was shrouded in an eerie and terrifying atmosphere. Every house was shut tight; not a soul was seen on the streets.
It seemed like a ghost village, emitting an unsettling and chilling aura.
Suddenly, this unusual stillness was broken.
A loud rumbling sound like thunder echoed from above.
Hearing this noise, dozens of police officers rushed out of a large house in the village and gathered in an open area, looking up at the sky.
A massive helicopter emerged from behind a mountain, its rotors whipping up strong winds as it flew straight toward the village.
The noise drew many villagers out of their homes to watch in awe at the giant iron bird.
The village buzzed with excitement.
As the helicopter hovered over the village, a middle-aged police chief named Harold Newman signaled for it to land safely.
Several young officers used high-powered flashlights to create bright beams as signals for the helicopter.
In the dim night sky, these signals were very clear.
The helicopter adjusted its course and descended slowly onto the open ground.
The powerful rotor winds kicked up dust and debris, causing the officers to squint and bend down.
Finally, the helicopter landed steadily.
The cabin door slid open with a clatter, and a young man jumped out nimbly.
He signaled to the helicopter before it took off again and disappeared into the night sky.
The officers breathed a sigh of relief and approached him steadily.
“Hello, are you Leo?” Chief Harold Newman greeted warmly. “I’m Harold Newman, Chief of Redrock County Police Department. Welcome.”
“Hello, Chief Newman. I’m Leo. Nice to meet you,” Leo replied with a smile as they shook hands firmly.
“Thank you for coming such a long way,” Harold said with a smile. “Let’s go; dinner is ready. We’ll discuss everything after we eat.”
