Chapter 1606: The Pickpocket

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-10-8

At the dinner table, the boastful mother-in-law Jessica bragged about herself. If it weren’t for Sophia and Martin holding her back, she claimed that she, Jessica, would have defeated Goryeo today instead of Leo.
Since Sophia was driving, Leo had a few drinks during the meal.
After dinner, on the way back in the car, a drunken Martin hummed a tune and occasionally muttered to himself, “The head of the Atrarian traditional medicine research department personally toasted me. This is the peak of my life, thanks to Leo, my good son-in-law…”
Feeling immensely proud, Jessica kept praising Leo. It seemed as if Leo was not her son-in-law but her own son.
No, more than her own son!
Sophia, who was driving, could only shake her head and smile wryly.
Leo, sitting in the passenger seat, closed his eyes and pretended to nap. Jessica’s sudden change in attitude was something he wasn’t quite used to.
“Dear Leo, when are you and Sophia planning to have children?” Jessica suddenly blurted out.
Immersed in his happiness, Martin quickly chimed in, “Yes, yes, you two have been married for so many years. It’s time to have a child. I want to hold a grandchild too.”
“Mom!” Sophia’s face turned red as she stole a glance at Leo beside her, recalling their intimate moments. She felt even more embarrassed.
Leo didn’t want Jessica to continue on this topic. He glanced at Sophia and said, “Dad, Mom, Sophia and I are already preparing.”
“That’s good. I know you both are busy with work. When you have a child, I’ll help take care of it. I’m very good at taking care of children! Although I don’t have a preference for boys over girls, I think it’s best to have one of each…”
Jessica began her long-winded speech without caring whether Leo and Sophia wanted to listen.
Leo and Sophia exchanged smiles.
The next day, the news of Leo defeating Seung Kim from the Goryeo Kingdom appeared in major domestic and international media. Atrarian traditional medicine became a hot topic on the internet.
Regardless of whether the international community recognized Atrarian traditional medicine or not, its name had spread worldwide. This was a significant success from another perspective.
Leo undoubtedly became the most sought-after traditional doctor in Atraria. People flocked to the Nameless Clinic for treatment. Within a few days, appointments were booked until next year.
After a busy day at the clinic, Leo picked up Sophia from the Henley’s Corp. Today, Sophia didn’t want to go straight home but dragged Leo to go shopping with her.
They arrived at the pedestrian street and spent over an hour at the King Mall. Sophia remained enthusiastic.
Though women’s appearances, temperaments, and personalities differ, their enthusiasm for shopping is almost identical.
Seeing Leo’s dazed expression, Sophia tilted her head and made a cute face. “Let’s go to The Grand Emporium next and then have dinner, okay?”
“Alright,” Leo shrugged.
“Great! Let’s hurry; it’s getting late.” Sophia giggled and quickly headed towards The Grand Emporium.
Leo shook his head with a wry smile.
Soon, they arrived at The Grand Emporium’s entrance. There was some event going on outside with loud music and banners waving, creating a lively atmosphere.
Leo looked up. “It seems like there’s a big sale.”
“Let’s go in quickly. I want to buy some beautiful new clothes.”
Leo nodded but suddenly stopped, his expression turning cold.
“What’s wrong?” Sophia noticed Leo’s change and felt puzzled.
Leo gestured with his mouth. Sophia followed his gaze and widened her eyes.
In the crowd, a sleazy man wearing a baseball cap was sneaking up on a young girl watching the event, his hand reaching for her bag.
A pickpocket!
Sophia looked at Leo. “What should we do? Should we intervene?”
Leo hesitated briefly. Although it was a small matter, he couldn’t just ignore it since he saw it.
“Sophia, wait here.”
Sophia understood his intention and didn’t stop him but expressed concern. “Be careful.”
“No problem.” Leo strode forward.
In the crowd, the sleazy pickpocket had already succeeded and was about to slip a wallet into his pocket.
Suddenly, an iron grip clamped down on his hand.
A stern voice followed. “Hey kid, your hand is in the wrong place.”
“Ah…!”
The intense pain caused the poor pickpocket’s face to contort as he screamed in agony.
The commotion alerted the girl being pickpocketed. She turned around in surprise and exclaimed, “Ah, my wallet!”
Leo retrieved the wallet from the pickpocket’s hand and handed it to the girl with a smile. “Be more careful next time. Not everyone is this lucky.”
“Thank you, thank you.” The girl expressed her gratitude repeatedly.
“It’s nothing,” Leo shook his head and glared at the pickpocket. “Do you want to go to the police station or get beaten up by me?”
The pickpocket, already in excruciating pain, was terrified by Leo’s words.
Realizing he had encountered someone formidable, he quickly begged for mercy. “Please forgive me this time. I won’t do it again.”
Before Leo could respond, a crowd had gathered around them.
People started shouting angrily, “Don’t go easy on him! These people never change. Beat him up!”
The poor pickpocket turned pale with fear as he realized he had angered the crowd.
Leo sneered. “There’s no future in this line of work for you. You should change careers as soon as possible. To help you make up your mind and give you some courage, I’ll give your hand a free makeover. Brace yourself.”
With that, Leo exerted force, producing a terrifying cracking sound.
The pickpocket’s right hand twisted into an unnatural shape like a chicken claw.
The pickpocket stared blankly at his ruined hand for five seconds before realizing what had happened. He then let out an ear-piercing scream: “Ah…!”
The onlookers gasped in shock.
That was ruthless! Would that hand ever function again?
But it wasn’t over yet. Leo grabbed the pickpocket’s left hand and twisted it into another horrifying claw shape.
The pickpocket wailed in agony as tears and snot streamed down his face. When Leo finally let go, he rolled on the ground in pain like a madman.
“Take care of yourself,” Leo said coldly before turning and walking away.
The crowd quickly made way for him, intimidated by his ruthlessness.
Sophia hurriedly approached him with concern. “Is that person okay?”
