“Lastly, we are appointing you as the Vice President of the Goryeo Medical Research Association. This position will grant you unrestricted access to Cheongwadae and ministerial-level benefits. We will also provide you with a dedicated bodyguard.”
After saying all this, Justin noticed that Leo’s expression remained unchanged, devoid of any reaction he had anticipated.
Leo’s face was calm, as if he were listening to something completely unrelated to him.
However, Rosemary and her secretary were genuinely astonished. They couldn’t believe that the Goryeo Kingdom would offer Leo such an “exorbitant” deal.
Now, if Leo just nodded, he could easily obtain the power, status, and wealth that many dream of.
Leo’s indifference made Justin uneasy. He raised his voice and said, “Mr. Bloomer, everything I just mentioned is true and has been signed off by the President.”
“If you want everything I mentioned, the condition is very simple: you need to renounce your Atrarian citizenship and join the Goryeo Kingdom.”
Money and power, the most lethal and tempting things in the world, Justin believed no one could resist.
The reason Justin offered such a huge temptation to Leo was not just because of Leo’s medical skills. More importantly, if Leo agreed, Atrarian traditional medicine would become the world’s biggest joke.
Imagine if even the representative of Atrarian traditional medicine defected to Korean Medicine; what face would Atrarian traditional medicine have left in this world?
Moreover, if Leo joined Korean Medicine and teamed up with Seung Kim, they would surely cure the illness of the House of Albion’s little princess. By then, Korean Medicine would resonate throughout the world, and the honor and wealth it could gain would be immeasurable.
Given these reasons, it was no wonder that the Goryeo Kingdom offered such generous terms to Leo.
“Are you done talking?” Leo asked Justin with a cold expression.
Justin nodded. “Mr. Bloomer, are you ready to agree?”
“Agree to what?!” Leo cursed directly. “Remember this well: I, Leo, would rather die than join Goryeo!”
Justin did not expect such a response from Leo. His face changed dramatically. “Mr. Bloomer, I advise you to think carefully! There’s an old saying in Atraria: ‘Heaven condemns those who don’t act in their own interest!'”
“You absolutely won’t be a match for the Korean Medical Saint. If you lose, not only will you be disgraced, but you also won’t get any of the conditions I offered today!”
“Are you so confident that Seung Kim can defeat me?” Leo sneered.
“Whether he can or not, as long as you agree, it will be beneficial for both sides,” Justin said sternly.
Leo sneered and shook his finger. “Save your hypocrisy. Go back and tell Seung Kim to prepare for failure!”
Seeing Leo’s stubbornness, Justin’s patience was completely worn out. His face turned stern as he snorted coldly. “Mr. Bloomer, you’re refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit. Soon you’ll regret today’s decision!”
“Let’s go!” Justin stormed out of Rosemary’s office angrily.
The others gave Leo a cold glance before following Justin out.
Rosemary suddenly started clapping.
“Now that’s what I call backbone,” Rosemary said with a smile as she looked at Leo.
Leo turned to her and smiled back. “I sense some sarcasm.”
“No sarcasm at all; it’s from the heart,” Rosemary said seriously. “There aren’t many people like you who can resist such enormous temptation.”
“It’s not that I can resist temptation; it’s that I see Goryeo’s offer as a joke!” Leo’s expression turned serious as well.
Indeed, how could a dignified Cultivator betray his country for money and power, which he regarded as mere dirt?
Not long after returning to the clinic, Brennen called.
“Mr. Holland, what’s the matter?” Leo guessed it was about the competition.
Sure enough, Brennen said directly, “Leo, Seung Kim arrived in the capital yesterday.”
“Also, the rules and content of this competition are neither set by Goryeo Kingdom nor by us but by the Royal House of Albion. You should be prepared for this.”
“The rules and content are set by the Royal House of Albion?” Leo was slightly surprised. “As far as I know, the Royal House of Albion has always favored modern doctors and knows little about traditional doctors. Isn’t it inappropriate for them to set the rules?”
“The Royal House of Albion’s reasoning is that by setting the rules themselves, they can truly assess the capabilities of traditional doctors and ensure fairness in the competition.”
“Both we and Goryeo Kingdom have provided information on traditional doctors to the Royal House of Albion. They have promised that the rules will adhere to the principles of traditional doctors’ healing methods.”
“I think the Royal House of Albion will most likely choose Needlework for this competition.”
Leo nodded. “Okay, Mr. Holland, I understand.”
“By the way, this matter has attracted significant international attention. Renowned media outlets worldwide are expected to cover the competition.”
Brennen paused before continuing. “Leo, this competition is crucial for the international standing of Atrarian traditional medicine and our nation’s dignity. We’re counting on you.”
“Mr. Holland, rest assured, I will give it my all,” Leo said solemnly.
In the following days, well-known and lesser-known foreign media outlets and members of the Royal House of Albion arrived in Langstel.
Langstel became an international focal point overnight. Many celebrities also came to catch some of the buzz surrounding the competition between Atrarian traditional medicine and Korean Medicine.
The government paid high attention and support to this event, arranging special receptions for members of the Royal House of Albion and setting up the International Convention Center as the competition venue.
An ultimate showdown between Atrarian traditional medicine and Korean Medicine was about to unfold.
Three days before the competition, Leo had fully mastered Bodhidharma’s Touch.
Two days later, around 3 PM, three men in casual suits arrived outside the clinic.
The leading man was in his fifties or sixties, not very tall, slightly overweight, but with piercing eyes.
Willow happened to come out of the clinic and saw these men whose demeanor differed from Atrarians’. She was slightly taken aback but then asked, “Hello, are you here for a consultation?”
“Nameless Clinic…” The overweight man withdrew his gaze from the signboard and looked at Willow. “Is Dr. Leo here?”
