A week later, at the Taylor family mansion, Avery was in the nursery room with baby Axl nestled in her arms. She was looking at her son’s cuteness with admiration.
She was thanking the Lord for blessing her with her baby. She thanked Him for protecting them from the evil-hearted Elizabeth and her brother, Aiden.
She was grateful to the Lord for the Taylor family, for the love they had deposited in her life. They were such an amazing, loving family. Finally, she thanked the Lord for blessing her with her father. He was such a good man.
Avery didn’t like to take her phone into the nursery room. She always left it with her husband or in their bedroom. Today was no exception. She spent time with her baby praying over his life and blessing him.
Her husband was in the study room with his Executive Secretary, Cole Knight. He was buried in a pile of documents.
When Xavier was busy discussing company matters with his Executive Secretary, his wife’s phone started ringing. He furrowed his beautiful brows when he saw the caller ID. It was his brother-in-law, Aiden.
Xavier excused himself and went to the nursery room. He met his grandfather outside the nursery room. His grandfather smiled broadly and said, “I am here to bond with my great-grandson.”
Xavier laughed and asked, “Grandpa, do you see that baby Axl took after you?” His Grandpa beamed with pride and replied, “Of course, my precious grandson. Baby Axl is my mirror image.” Then they entered the nursery room laughing.
Avery smiled brightly when she saw them. Grandpa Taylor smiled back at her and said, “Go and spend quality time with each other. Leave my great-grandson with me to bond.”
Xavier took their baby from his wife and kissed him. He handed his son to his Great-Grandpa and said, “Son, your great-grandfather is visiting you to bond.” He then took his wife’s hand and they left the nursery.
He handed the phone to his wife and, before he uttered a word, the phone started ringing. Avery was stunned when she saw the caller ID. She hesitated but curiosity got the better of her and asked, “How may I help you, Mr Martins?”
Aiden chuckled and asked, “Why are you so formal to your own brother, baby sis?”
Avery rolled her eyes and replied, “If I remember correctly, you disowned me two years ago. So, we are not related, Mr Martins. If you don’t have anything to say to me, I will hang up.”
Aiden started panicking and replied, “Please don’t hang up, Avery. I need your help. I just filled my car with fuel. When I was trying to pay, all my bank cards declined.
Please send me some money to pay for the fuel. The petrol attendant is threatening to call the police.”
Avery laughed out loud and asked, “Why don’t you ask your beloved mother to help you? Oh, I remember she was arrested for plotting to kill my son and for falsely accusing me of killing her child.
Why are you still roaming outside, Mr Martins, while your partner in crime has been arrested? When did you become a murderer, Mr Martins?”
Aiden was fuming with anger, but he managed to calm himself down and said, “I made a mistake, Avery. Please forgive me. I don’t have anyone. My father replaced me with my stepbrother, and it hurts.”
Avery couldn’t believe her ears and asked, “Are you blaming the baby for your own mistakes? How many times have I warned you about your mother’s evilness? You deserve everything that is coming into your life.” Then she hung up the phone.
Aiden was devastated when his sister refused to help him. He called one of his friends and asked him to send him some money. Fortunately, his friend was not far from the garage. He came and paid the money for him.
Three months later, Elizabeth was discharged from the hospital. She was taken to police custody. Her lawyer tried to bail her out, but her bail was denied. The trial between her and Lily and Jamie began.
On the day of the trial, the air was thick with tension. Jamie tried to refute Lily’s testimony, but the evidence was damning. Lily had recorded every conversation she had with Jamie.
Mr Sharp played the voice recording of Jamie and Lily plotting to kill his client’s baby. Elizabeth couldn’t believe the cruelty of Jamie and Lily. Something snapped inside of her.
She suddenly lunged at Jamie with a knife. The security guards didn’t search her handbag because she was in a wheelchair. She cried and shouted, “Bring back my baby.” She tried to stab Jamie in the heart, but he blocked the knife.
However, Elizabeth wasn’t done with him. She stabbed him viciously in the left thigh. Everything happened so quickly. She wanted to kill Jamie to pay for playing with her feelings and for killing her son.
The courtroom became chaotic, but the police officers managed to handcuff Elizabeth. She was shouting and kicking. She was taken back to prison.
Jamie was rushed to the hospital. He had suffered deep wounds in his left arm and thigh. The attending doctor told him that the nerve was damaged, and his left arm would never function again.
He also told him that he would never walk again. The knife had damaged a femoral artery.
A month later, Jamie went to court in a wheelchair. When Elizabeth saw him she looked at him viciously.
Jamie was sentenced to life imprisonment and Lily was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment because she became a State witness.
When Aiden asked his mother to give him money, she refused. Since he had nothing to lose, he testified against his mother during their trial. He painted his mother as a heartless person who tried to kill his sister several times.
When Judge Harris handed down the judgement he said, “In light of the evidence presented in front of me, it is clear to me that Miss Parker treats human life as grass. Therefore, it is my duty to remove such a person from society.”
Then Judge Harris asked Mr Sharp and Miss Parker to stand. He looked at Miss Parker and said, “You are hereby sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.”
The Taylor family and the Martins family felt that the sentencing fit the crime. Judge Harris left the courtroom and went to his chambers.
