Chapter 1097

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-10-8

She pushed Franklin away and tried to leave. Could it be… could it be that Jenna was already… gone? So she couldn’t undergo the surgery?
“Jenna… my sister, she…”
Clare quickly stopped her. “Sylvia, it’s okay. Jenna is fine. There’s a new donor whose match with Jenna is a 7, so he will undergo the surgery, eliminating the post-surgery risks for both you and Jenna.”
“What? A new donor?” Sylvia looked at Clare in disbelief, then at Franklin. The handsome man nodded at her.
Her emotions were like a roller coaster, rising and falling.
She let out a long breath. “This is incredibly fortunate.”
After searching for so long without success, suddenly… there was a donor.
She calmed herself. “Who is this donor? We need to thank them properly.”
“The donor wishes to remain anonymous. So, we don’t know who it is,” Clare said with a bit of helplessness. “We have no way to thank them.”
“Sylvia, you’ve slept for so long. You must be hungry. Have something to eat. Once Jenna’s surgery is done and she’s in the transplant chamber, you’ll need to take care of her. None of us are as skilled as you,” Queena said cheerfully, handing Sylvia a bowl of rib soup. “Drink some while it’s still warm!”
Sylvia took the rib soup and looked at them curiously. “You’re all here, but Jenna is in surgery!”
Clare smiled, “Mr. Xie and Mrs. Wright are there with her. We agreed that we’d stay with you while they stay with Jenna, so you can relax.”
Only then did Sylvia start drinking the rib soup. Perhaps because the weight on her heart had lifted, the soup tasted exceptionally good.
After eating a bit, Sylvia changed her clothes and went straight to Jenna’s bone marrow transplant chamber. Mrs. Wright and her son were there, along with other relatives from the Hipps Family.
Seeing Sylvia, Mrs. Wright said emotionally, “Jenna is so fortunate to have met such a kind donor. Sylvia, it’s wonderful that you’re safe too.”
“Maybe the heavens saw how much my sister and I have suffered and decided to show us some mercy,” Sylvia joked playfully.
Mrs. Wright looked at her short hair with some sadness. “It’s a pity about your long hair.”
“It’s just hair; it’ll grow back soon,” Sylvia said, touching her hair. “Short hair is quite trendy now; it’s refreshing and spirited.”
Seeing that she didn’t mind, no one else felt sad for her anymore.
Sylvia waited quietly outside as the surgery neared its end. After more than ten minutes, it was finally over.
Juan came out looking exhausted and couldn’t help but comment on Sylvia’s unfamiliar short hair. “I’m not used to seeing you with short hair.”
“You’ll get used to it. How did it go? Was it successful?” Sylvia asked with a slight smile.
“With your teacher involved, how could it not be? The patient is still unconscious, and the donor is resting. You can go in and accompany them,” Juan joked despite his fatigue.
Sylvia laughed. “Thank you, teacher.”
After preparing herself with all necessary disinfection measures, she entered the bone marrow transplant chamber to accompany Jenna.
Being an attendant was no easy task, but as a doctor, it was relatively easier for her.
But it was still tiring.
Once inside the transplant chamber, Sylvia wanted to meet the donor but was told that he had been transferred to another hospital.
“Dr. Sylvia, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you; it’s just that the donor left our hospital immediately after the surgery, probably not wanting you to know,” the nurse said awkwardly. “I really don’t know anything.”
Sylvia didn’t press further or make things difficult for the nurse.
Instead, she glanced at the computer in front of the nurse.
Just then, a patient’s IV bag ran out, and the nurse hurried to replace it.
Sylvia stepped up to the computer and tapped a few keys before leaving.
No one knew she had connected her phone to the computer, but she found it empty-no information about Jenna’s donor.
This… was becoming more mysterious.
Who could it be? Someone who insisted on being an anonymous hero.
It wasn’t that she was suspicious; it’s just that truly kind-hearted people who don’t leave their names are very rare.
It made her feel a bit strange.
But she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was strange.
Just because there were no records on this computer didn’t mean there were none elsewhere.
Sylvia used her phone to connect to the lab’s computer, but… there were no records of the donor there either.
Damn!
Did this donor just appear out of nowhere and then disappear after the surgery?
Frustrated, she looked at her phone screen and finally decided to contact Alby.
“You can’t find any information on the donor?”
Alby found it very odd. “Usually, people who do such things don’t hide, right? After all, it’s a good deed!”
“I don’t know either; I just find it very strange,” Sylvia said irritably. “Help me look into it.”
“Alright, I’ll use our network to investigate and let you know if I find anything,” Alby agreed immediately.
After hanging up, Sylvia remembered the matter of the human skin map and called Jaden. “Have you found the place on the map?”
“We’ve been searching within Aettosa for a long time and recently found a place that somewhat resembles the map, but we’re not sure if it’s the right spot. We’re keeping an eye on it now,” Jaden said, wiping sweat from his forehead as he stood in a jungle with a few comrades.
Surrounded by tropical rainforest-like trees, it was stiflingly hot when it wasn’t raining.
Not only was it hot, but there were also many insects and venomous snakes.
Fortunately, they were well-equipped. As he spoke, Jaden took out some ointment and applied it to a red spot on his arm where he had been bitten.
“Give your men some extra food,” Sylvia said, hearing Jaden’s labored breathing and knowing how tough their situation was. “Where are you now?”
“We’re in a dense forest in northern Aettosa. It’s very hot here,” Jaden said, glancing at a distant bush. “I hope we can find something here!”
If they really discovered some treasure or something similar, it would be a world-shaking find.
He thought simply that it might be treasure.
But Sylvia believed that if Master Phoenix had drawn such a map on human skin, there must be some hidden secret beyond mere treasure.
“Alright, I’m currently taking care of my sister in the bone marrow transplant chamber and can’t go out. If anything comes up, contact Logan; he’ll provide whatever you need,” Sylvia instructed before hanging up. She walked into the bathroom and looked at her short hair in the mirror, unable to help but smile wryly.
She wondered when it would grow back. She looked good even with short hair; in fact, it gave her a spirited look.
She raised an eyebrow and touched her short hair.
Short is short; maybe by the time she left the transplant chamber, it would have grown out some more.
Middle Evroya Region
The scorching sun baked the earth as a tall man stood under a tree’s shade, looking somewhat helpless.
“Jasper, we’ve been here for half a month already. Miss Anto probably isn’t in Middle Evroya,” said a man who approached him from behind and handed him a cold drink.
The man opened the bottle and took a big gulp. “Let’s search for two more days. If we still can’t find her, we’ll leave.”
“Alright, I’ll gather the men for another search.”
Jasper squinted slightly. Half a month had passed, yet Evie’s whereabouts remained a mystery.
No matter how many calls or messages he sent, they all went unanswered.
He stood outside a mall entrance in Middle Evroya’s city center. This region wasn’t large compared to Aettosa or H Rovirsa’s vast territories.
It was a small place but finding Evie here seemed impossible.
She had clearly boarded a flight to Middle Evroya and landed here.
There were no records of her leaving Middle Evroya by plane either, indicating she was still here.
But he couldn’t find her.
This mall was the largest in Middle Evroya’s city center-bustling with business and people coming and going.
Jasper felt tired and called his men to eat at the mall.
“Jasper, the food here can’t compare to what we have back home; the taste is different too. But there’s a hotpot restaurant here-the only one in Middle Evroya-run by someone from our hometown. Opening such a restaurant abroad takes guts,” one of his subordinates explained in detail.
They had been here for half a month and longed for some hometown food.
Being in a foreign land made them miss their native cuisine even more.
Jasper had lost his appetite; without Evie, everything he ate tasted bland-even delicacies felt like mere sustenance to him now.
But seeing his men eager to try it out, he didn’t want to disappoint them.
“Alright, let’s go.”
So they headed into the mall and took the elevator up.
A sudden influx of black-clad men drew many curious glances from passersby.
The hotpot restaurant was on the top floor of the mall; as soon as they exited the elevator, they saw its prominent signboard.
They went in and took three tables right away; business was good at this mall-based restaurant which had no private rooms due to space constraints.
Just as Jasper sat down and started pouring himself a drink from his flask, someone pushed open the restaurant door again-a couple with a young boy walked in first followed by a petite girl with cute features trailing behind them into the hotpot restaurant.
