Bad prospects

Book:Alpha's hostage Published:2024-9-23

Nebraska felt cold. She was chilled to the bone and she moved, seeking to warm herself, but the sound of chains made her eyes open suddenly, making her shudder. Now she was frozen not with cold, but with panic. The hard, rough metal encircled his wrists, clenching them. Memories of when she was in that same situation assailed her.
-How is the situation?- A well-known voice prevented her from moving.
Carefully she turned her face to see under her hair where she was. Starting with the fact that she was laying on an irregular stone floor, chained again, the other thing that discovered that a cave loomed over her and outside the white color covered everything. For some reason unknown to her it was snowing.
Her heart stopped. Before it was attacked there was not a drop of snow all around and now everything was covered by this. How many days had passed? Her hands began to shake. Rodrigo, Hades.
-Everything is fine for the moment, there is movement, but everything is under control-
Nebraska boiled with rage at the sight of Liam kneeling in front of her once-husband. His head was lowered and he was staring at the floor as if he were afraid to look at his former alpha. Even his voice was hesitant.
-Well, prepare everything, we will go straight to the iron herd- Rudoc got up and at that moment a little girl squeezed herself in his arm.
-Father, let’s hurry, I want to get there- Catalina’s voice was a dagger to the she-wolf’s chest.
-Quiet my daughter and stay still- he pushed her away from his side and went outside although she followed him.
-Are you awake?- Liam turned to her.
Nebraska glared at him menacingly from her position, barely sitting up.
-Quiet, I’m doing everything possible so that Rudoc doesn’t do anything to you- he knelt in front of her -I had to keep you unconscious for three days, otherwise he would have taken advantage of you-
With those words he seemed to believe that she could trust him, but only once was enough for Nebraska to break all expectations of a person. She growled at him showing her fangs protruding from his gums.
-My queen, I recommend you really calm down or you can end up like him- He nodded at the body beside him.
Nebraska recognized him, that was one of the members of the Council and if she was not mistaken he was the alpha of the iron pack. That he had killed him and that he still had that body indicated that he wanted to claim his place in the pack.
But when had he killed him and how?
His condition seemed to have been decomposing for almost a week, and if she did the math, it coincided with the completion of her wedding. So he must have been killed at that time. She swallowed, Rudoc was still imprisoned at that time.
-Was it you?- She narrowed her eyes.
-I had no choice, my queen. Rudoc was threatening me-
-Threatening?- She roared. -What could he have done inside the dungeons?-
-You have no idea, my queen, what he is capable of-
Nebraska reached up and grabbed his clothes pulling her toward her.
-Maybe I have to remind you who his wife was for so many years, I know very well what he is capable of-
-Well, to have been his wife you forgot very quickly- Catalina’s voice echoed in the cave behind Liam.
Nebraska kept a serious demeanor even though she wanted as much to hit that spoiled woman as she wanted to cry over the betrayal of her own blood. He saw her stand in front of her and look down at her arrogantly.
-The word bitch is too short for you mother, you abandon my father and spread your legs to another alpha, you should be ashamed-
-Catalina, watch your words- Liam asked her only to receive a loud slap in the face from her.
-I’m talking, do not get involved, lapdog that you do not serve for anything other than fulfilling my father’s wishes-
Liam didn’t reply but his faint scent told the omega he was upset. Liam had been with her for many years and she thought she knew him, but now after this, there was only one stranger.
-Now move, father wants us to just get out of here as soon as possible, we are very close to the limits of Layan’s pack. If the snow decreases they can locate us, there are several wolves behind us. The sooner we get to the iron herd, the more chances we have to seize power and I will be the queen- the girl turned and left.
Nebraska heard Liam sigh before getting up and ordering something from someone. Two men emerged from the shadows whom she recognized as two of the dead wolf’s guards beside her. She thought at first that she had been betrayed until she noticed their pupils, fully dilated to the point that the iris was not visible. She was confused for a few seconds until she realized that they were responding to Liam.
-Liam, do you … control them? –
He nodded to her surprise.
-But I can’t give you more details now my queen- he turned and smiled- I promise that when the time is right I will-
Finishing saying this the two wolves grabbed her and lifted her up. As those old chains weighed so much and considering that they would delay the trip, Liam decided that they tied his hands behind his back with a rope that cut off the circulation of blood to her fingers. Nebraska understood that he thought she couldn’t convert, she hadn’t done it during the wedding, so she could give it a try, but she refrained from doing so for the time being.
-Liam, you were the ones who poisoned Hades and Rodrigo- It was not a question, it was a statement.
This made him stop and he turned to her with an indecipherable face.
-Any problem if we did?- Rudoc stopped next to the wolf with a macabre smile. -Rodrigo’s was out of the question. Thank Liam; he was the one who solved everything perfectly so that they were in that state-
The omega did not flinch, at least it did not show it, she hated that wolf with all her being.
-Why did you capture me? –
-Maybe it is not logical- he approached her and put his fingers around her neck loosely, moving them to her cleavage -I have to admit that of all the wolves I have had sex with, you are the one who really makes me reach the orgasm. If I can have you, why wouldn’t I, you were my wife, why can’t I claim you-
Nebraska was thoughtful.
-Is there an antidote?- She tried.
-Why would you want to know, those two must have died days ago- she heard him laugh and it hit her inside, although she saw how his hand moved and tightly grasped a small bag that hung from his belt. If she had learned anything in their moments together, it was that when he lied, he touched that place where he hid something.
She looked up quickly lest he realize that she had discovered it. She had to look for an opportunity to steal it and try to escape, if there was hope she couldn’t let her husband and son die. At least she hoped they were still alive.
Catalina came in and pulled on her father’s arm.
-Come on, what are we waiting for-
Rudoc grunted and pushed her away.
-Catalina behave-
-Why should I? Now because you have that bitch, you’re going to put me aside,- she yelled, making a fight. She looked at Nebraska with bloodshot eyes. -What the hell do they see in her?- It’s not even beauty-
-Leave- Rudoc threatened her raising his hand.
She clenched her fists and pouting, turned and waited for them at the entrance. Liam walked over to Rudoc and whispered something in his ear. The ancient alpha’s face turned into a scowl of rage and he turned his eyes to where his daughter was. A low growl came from his throat.
Nebraska couldn’t hear them but whatever it was it wasn’t good. She was only left with the option of being dragged by one of the guards while the other carried the body. Her mind fixed on one thing, getting the antidote.
