Being nice doesn’t go with everything

Book:Alpha's hostage Published:2024-9-23

-I have to admit that you are tougher than a stone- Hades walked slowly, with his hands in the pockets of his pants, a few meters in front of the she-wolf.
Nebraska had insisted on walking alone. She had told him, letting go of his arms, that if they continued to help her in everything, she would not be able to get up on her own, that she was grateful for her help, but that she needed to.
Determined woman, with a strong spirit, she realized more and more that she met the requirements. It was still early days and he could not be captivated, after more than 600 years of firm conviction. The reign of the silver pack was not, nor would it be, of anyone.
The omega stepped ahead of the other, measuring strength, distance, her breathing. Too many years had raged, she needed to train again and regain her strength as soon as possible.
She was following Hades, who kept a decent distance, though still keeping an eye on her. The wall was her best support but when it finished when he reached the staircase, things got complicated. She was more than sure that she wouldn’t be able to get to the second step without rolling towards the ground.
She swallowed, and apparently the alpha took notice, as he turned and scooped her up.
She let herself. He had told her that they would see her pack, so she would not refuse this help, she was not so proud to be almighty and believe that she could go this far, she knew her weaknesses and the current capabilities of her body. Hades didn’t seem to want to attack her, so for the moment she would allow himself this luxury.
The wolf released her again when she was on the first floor and the masculine warmth that became comfortable left her without admitting it. Nebraska felt the weight of several glances on her and became nervous, the room of the great mansion seemed to be occupied by several wolves that she could not define. Still she didn’t lower his head and resumed his way behind Hades using his back for support. He did not seem to be bothered by the wolf as he said nothing.
A light blinded her reaching the entrance as the door opened, it was too much for her weak eyes. She backed away slowly trying to take refuge from the discomfort it caused him but his hands were caught and wrapped around the wolf’s thick arm.
-Hold on from me, on the way there won’t be much support and you are very unstable- the alpha had noticed that her legs, from time to time, made the attempt to give way under the light weight of Nebraska and her knees seemed that they were going through their worst facet- I know you don’t want me to be close to you because being alpha, but you will have to resist for the moment-
The wolf raised her head trying to focus on his face, she would like to see his expression. She was not used to a man being so kind to her and even less the one who claimed her as his, with hardly having exchanged more than 20 words.
-Thanks-
Her little thanks seem to have taken him by surprise.
-Don’t thank me yet- the alpha pretended not to hear and got back on track feeling the extra weight at his side, a weight that wasn’t bad at all.
Several of his pack members stood or comment as they passed. Hades ignored them, he was rarely with a woman and that this is alien to the pack was something new for them.
They walked for several minutes that seemed like hours to Nebraska, until they reached the back of the small wolf town to find a complex of smaller buildings a few meters away.
At that point the omega felt her legs shaking and totally unstable. Each step she took was harder and her knees creaked dangerously. Too much effort for a single day, but the desire to be with her loved ones kept her on her feet.
Hades stopped and made him drop it. Being without a support Nebraska swayed helplessly, but the wolf had not moved away. He knelt down and circled her thighs, flexing his elbow, sitting on her arm, drawing her towards him to steady her.
-Hold on to my neck- he said once he got up.
Nebraska hesitated at the action though the relief on her legs was immediate. She put her hands on his shoulders letting him walk to his destination.
-I will allow one of your children to accompany you to walk through the courtyard of the mansion, you need to recover energy and physical form if you want to transform and not suffer in the process, the last time it took you several days to wake up-
Nebraska heard the words that were diluted by the gentle afternoon breeze, it felt good to have nature around her, the freedom of pure air on her face and skin.
-You’re quiet enough to have been a queen- The alpha felt ridiculous talking to him practically. She raised her free hand and wrapped her finger in a strand of short, neater dark hair that brushed her bare shoulders -Your hair- she tilted her head, smiling slightly -You look good like this-
-You’re too nice to be an alpha- she replied calmly for the first time since they had left the mansion.
He didn’t like her answer, what was the image he had of them, Rudoc had definitely done everything to show off.
-Alphas can be nice too- Hades kissed the tip of her hair before letting it go and focusing on the path.
Nebraska blinked assimilating his words, to recover later, kind? Did that word enter your dictionaries? He would not break his head with such trivial things, in the end all the wolves were like that with the omegas and with a dark objective behind. Her own husband had used that ruse with his innocent youth. She was no longer a naive girl, she would not fall into his nets, no matter how “kind” he was, but as long as her children were under the alpha’s tail, she would have to put up with him.
Hades stopped in front of the house complex. Nebraska could feel her body relax, without losing her guard, apparently she didn’t want to scare anyone.
-My queen- a familiar voice reached the she-wolf’s ears.
Liam had emerged from one of the doors and was running towards them, stopping when he saw her on the arm of that towering alpha, in every sense of the word.
-Hades- she whispered -You can get me down, I think I can support myself now, my feet don’t hurt so much anymore-
Hades turned his face to stay very close to hers. His words seemed unconvincing. Even so he did, he did not want to make her lose what little power she had left in front of her people, that could end up breaking her down.
With effort and a lot of willpower, Nebraska put her feet on the ground and without firm support she miraculously stood upright. Hades at her back watched her movements to act when necessary, she was still very fragile and a fall could do her more damage than normal.
Liam finally approached her and knelt, taking her hands with tears in his eyes.
-My queen, my queen, you are fine, you don’t know how happy I am to see you-
-Me too, Liam- Nebraska smiled slightly remembering the composure of his reign times, a tycoon had to be dignified and confident even in the most complicated moments.
-Hearing your voice was all I needed- His former beta kissed his knuckles, leaving his lips longer than adequate, or so Hades appreciated when he let out a loud, involuntary growl that made the wolves before him shudder and look at him warily.
Has anyone been jealous?
