The phone slipped from Callie’s hand and fell to the ground.
That afternoon, dark clouds loomed over the city, and a sudden downpour ensued, with raindrops as large as beans hitting the ground with force.
Callie was repeatedly pinned down by the man on top of her. Resistance was futile; she could only submit.
Today, Nelson was particularly passionate, making even the teasing unbearable.
Callie clung tightly to him, finally closing her eyes as if she saw fireworks.
After it ended, there were still two hours until nightfall.
She lay beside him and cautiously asked, “What kind of person is your mother?”
After a brief silence, Nelson grabbed her fingers and played with them absentmindedly.
“Very domineering.”
Her name was Lucia, a name that carried significant weight in the business world.
Nelson’s father passed away when he was young. Lucia single-handedly raised him in the chaotic environment of the Oconnor family, enduring countless schemes and plots.
The Oconnor Group was once managed by Dale Oconnor. After a period of turmoil, Lucia stepped in, leveraging her family’s influence to stabilize the situation. This paved the way for Nelson’s strong entry into the Oconnor Group years later, where he ruled with absolute authority.
Lucia then left and never interfered with the Oconnor family again, living freely and unrestrained.
Nowadays, most people only see Nelson’s thunderous methods and regard him as a figure of reverence.
However, those who can analyze the situation know that Lucia played a crucial role in Nelson’s success.
Women in the business world are often strong-willed.
But she did not love Nelson.
She refused to acknowledge his existence as her son.
Nelson stopped talking at this point, and Callie wisely did not press further.
It was hard to imagine that such a woman had mental health issues.
Nelson kept his word and brought Reuben to Paucaster Villa Complex. Soon after, his grandfather and Bianca also came to visit Reuben before they all had a meal together.
For once, Callie felt a long-lost sense of family warmth as she moved among them.
The next day, at dawn, the servants at Paucaster Villa Complex were already up and about, each performing their duties.
When Callie appeared in the kitchen, she startled the head chef. “Madam.”
She placed her index finger on her lips, signaling him to be quiet.
“What’s for breakfast today?”
Every morning at Paucaster Villa Complex, breakfast included a variety of refreshments and fast food.
“I’ll handle the refreshments If I do something wrong, please teach me.”
The head chef was flattered. “Madam, this isn’t something you should be-”
Callie raised her index finger again.
The head chef lowered his head in silence, unsure whether to let her proceed.
Callie moved deftly, producing beautifully crafted dishes. Soft buns emerged from the steamer, filling the air with a delicious aroma.
Soaked soybeans were freshly squeezed with special water to make steaming hot soy milk sprinkled with sugar.
Her petite figure moved around the large kitchen. Though busy, she was not chaotic, and her creations impressed the head chef.
While he praised her outwardly, he thought inwardly that Nelson’s wife must indeed be exceptional.
Nelson noticed Callie was not in the room ten minutes later. His hand reached out to find an empty space, waking him completely.
He searched for her and saw Callie coming out of the kitchen with a tray. She got burned and hurriedly touched her ear.
When she looked up and saw him standing not far away, frowning at her, she instinctively hid her hand behind her back and froze.
Nelson walked over quickly, took her hand, and found nothing wrong with it. His frown relaxed.
He asked, “When did you get up?”
Callie pushed him away and answered evasively, “I smell like cooking oil.”
