Now that he had received definite news, his high-strung fear slowly subsided.
Fortunately, she didn’t dare. If she had really dared to cheat, he might have made her into a specimen.
No, not might. He definitely would have!
…
Miss Fisher was met with silence.
The air grew quiet, and Callie began to reflect on whether she had been too extreme. She turned back to the study, returned the book to its original place, and checked Nelson’s computer and important documents. Thankfully, nothing was amiss.
As she passed the servants, she said, “I hope you can do your duties well.”
Miss Fisher was trembling with anger. Callie’s actions were so familiar, as if she had lived there before. She herself wouldn’t dare speak to the servants of Paucaster Villa Complex in such a tone, yet Callie dared!
Nancy realized her oversight. As soon as Callie left, she immediately said, “Miss Fisher, please step outside.”
“Don’t be so reckless next time,” the secretary in the car said after finishing a call.
The next second, an eagle-like gaze fixed on him, and a cold voice asked, “Whose call was that?”
“It was from a servant at Paucaster Villa Complex. They said Miss Fisher ran into Madam there.”
Nelson seemed to remember that he had invited her to Paucaster Villa Complex today for a discussion.
That woman’s abilities were indeed impressive; he had thoughts of deeper cooperation. Because of Callie today, he almost forgot about her.
“And then?”
“Madam humiliated Miss Fisher…”
A slight smile finally appeared on Nelson’s stern lips. He leaned one hand against the car window and closed his eyes slightly, casually throwing out a topic: “Isn’t the design department of Oconnor Group’s branch hiring recently?”
The secretary quickly searched his mind for relevant information. “Yes.”
Nelson closed his eyes completely, plunging into darkness.
“After the New Year, transfer Jett over there.”
“Yes.”
Callie slept until dawn. After waking up, she walked straight to the bathroom and found it closed and locked.
She suddenly became much more alert; Nelson was back.
Before she could react, the door opened from the inside. The man had just showered; his hot breath hit her face. He had a towel wrapped around his waist, revealing his strong, smooth muscles. Water droplets flowed down his V-line, making Callie blush instinctively.
Nelson was drying his hair with a towel and looked down at her. “Awake?”
Callie lowered her head, unsure how to respond. “Awake…”
Being suddenly together felt somewhat awkward.
Callie took a step back to give him space. The man’s voice was lazy, “Bought so many things, aren’t you going to check them out?”
Only then did she realize that all those things had been delivered to the walk-in closet and neatly arranged.
She didn’t want to look down and muttered softly, “So extravagant.”
Nelson chuckled lightly and pulled her over with his warm hand, sitting her down beside him. “Dry my hair for me.”
“Why should I?” Callie blurted out.
He looked up at her words, making her immediately retract. “I’ll do it.”
The man’s hair was stiff and prickly as it brushed against her fingers. Callie mechanically used the hairdryer to dry his hair and said softly, “You were here last night, right?”
He put on his trousers. “The sound was too low; I couldn’t hear clearly.”
Callie resisted the urge to curse and repeated loudly.
Nelson chuckled but didn’t answer directly. “What do you think?”
After drying his hair, Callie had her answer. She put the hairdryer aside and hesitated for a long time before looking at Nelson’s expression and saying, “Can you… hug me?”
