Ivy appeared from behind with her arms crossed, staring deeply at Kate. “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, how interesting,” she said with a hint of amusement in her voice.
‘Shit,’ Kate cursed silently; the smile on Ivy’s face was sending shivers down her spine. Then she recalled her promise to Zack Anderson. ‘F*ck, that man, if he finds out, he’ll…’ She was scared to dwell on the thoughts of what Zack Anderson might do if Ivy rats her out.
“She sent you, didn’t she?” The small smile on Anna’s face faltered. “I doubt that you came here because you needed a job.” Her face turned serious.
Anna sensed the hostility between them. “You know her?” She asked, and Ivy replied with a shrug. “Yes.”
“You were trying to turn me against her…” Anna realized her motive. If she and Ivy hadn’t reconciled, she would have fallen for it. “So it was you.” Another realization hit her. “You were the one behind everything.”
Kate was well aware of Anna’s anger and strength that outmatched hers, so she stepped back, looking for an escape route.
Anger was visible on Anna’s face. It would only be a matter of seconds before she lashed out. “I’ll make sure to give that mouth of yours what it deserves.”
Ivy grabbed her wrist to stop her before the obvious happened. “Hey, calm down.” Her words had no effect this time around.
“Let me deal with this, bitch!” She forcefully pulled her hands away from Ivy’s grip.
Kate didn’t just stand there to let Anna give her the beating of her life. She ran away before Anna could land a punch.
When she was a good distance away, she dialed Ethan’s number.
“Ethan, I messed up, she caught me.” She didn’t dare call Irene because she knew what would happen if she did.
She heard Ethan sigh through the phone. “Irene was right, you really are useless…”
Kate was piqued by the insult. “I’m not useless; it’s just that I wasn’t cautious enough.”
“It’s the same thing as being useless,” he spat. “Don’t worry, I’ve got everything under control. Next time, bring useful information; this one sucks.”
Kate wanted to refute, but he ended the call. “They aren’t even appreciating my efforts, they just complain and insult me,” she muttered and left to an obscure area of the set to avoid meeting Ivy again.
Back at the corridor:
“Anna, I told you to calm down,” Ivy gripped her wrist again to stop her from running after Kate. “Calm down.” She repeated when she noticed her words had little effects. Anna was trembling with rage; if Ivy hadn’t held her in place, she would have chased after Kate.
“Let go of me, Ivy! Let me break her teeth, I might as well pluck out her eyes…”
“Anna!” Ivy’s yell made her return to her senses. She exhaled deeply and gave Ivy an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, I lost control again…”
Ivy patted her back. “Yeah, you did lose it again.” She sighed, the feeling of weariness washed over her; holding Anna in place wasn’t an easy feat. “You’re too strong.”
Anna noticed the exhaustion on her face and smiled awkwardly. “Sorry, I got anger issues…”
“Oh, you just noticed.” Ivy scoffed.
“Ivy, it’s time for your next scene,” Joan announced. She had been looking for her and was surprised to find her with Anna. ‘Aren’t they supposed to be fighting?’ She sneakily texted Ethan.
*They aren’t fighting.*
He sent a short reply. *I am aware.*
Joan frowned then sent another text. *What’s the next plan?*
There was no reply. She shrugged and went up to assist Ivy.
Ivy left the trailer after changing into her costume. She was dressed in flabby pants and a simple T-shirt with light makeup.
Director Tim signalled her to come on set to begin filming.
Meanwhile, George arrived on set with his PA. The moment Anna sighted him, her eyes lit up with joy. She smiled, expecting him to smile back at her, but George’s eyes were fixed on Ivy instead.
George’s PA sighed. Despite all his warnings, George never listened. He was too attracted to Ivy, and he was worried he might step over a boundary that could cost him his career. “That’s Zack Anderson’s wife, for God’s sake,” he muttered. There was no use in saying it audibly because he knew what George would say.
The old man doesn’t deserve her
He kept telling him to stay away from Ivy, yet his words fell on deaf ears.
“She looks more beautiful in that costume,” George complimented, and he planned on telling her after she completed the scene.
“You have a scene with her today,” his PA apprised. He didn’t tell him earlier since he knew how he would have reacted.
“Why didn’t you tell me in time?” He shot him a glare and left to get dressed.
After changing into his costume, he approached Ivy, placing his hand in his pocket. “You look great in your costume…”
Ivy looked down, peering at the simple outfit she was wearing. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, making her look plain, coupled with the light makeup.
How did she look great in a simple costume?
“I won’t take that as a compliment.” She responded with a blank face and walked away.
As usual, she was disinterested in having a conversation with him, and he understood. But that didn’t make him back off. “Ivy, wait.” He chased after her, taking no notice of his surroundings. All he wanted was to get to Ivy in time, he only realized where he was going when someone grabbed his wrist.
“Do you want to follow her into the restroom?” His PA appeared to stop him in time before he placed himself in an awkward situation.
George’s face sank in embarrassment when he noticed all eyes were on him. Some females, mostly cleaners who were hanging close by, started to whisper among themselves.
“What were you thinking?” His PA nudged him out of the area. “Were you really about to follow her into the restroom?”
“I wasn’t thinking straight,” he admitted. “I wish she could just spare me a proper conversation.”
His PA turned speechless. ‘He still thinks of asking her out, what is wrong with this guy?’ He screamed in his head. ‘She is someone else’s wife.’
Not just anyone, the hot-tempered Zack Anderson.
