It wasn’t until they were both lying in bed, feeling his large hand resting on her waist and listening to his steady breathing, that Rosalind wondered, does this mean… the contract continues?
After a night of self-conflict, Rosalind finally fell asleep out of sheer exhaustion.
When she woke up the next morning, the man beside her was already gone.
Rosalind, draped in her nightgown, walked out of the bedroom. The dining table was set with breakfast left by Ulric, as if their previous unpleasantness had never happened!
Suddenly, the phone by the bed rang.
She ran over to check, it was Tilda.
“Did you see the message I sent you yesterday?”
“Ah… I was too busy yesterday, lots of things to handle on the business trip.”
“I’m asking about the man you mentioned. It’s not Ulric Mr. Walters, is it?” Tilda had been waiting for her reply!
Rosalind’s heart skipped a beat. “You really let your imagination run wild.”
“So it’s not Mr. Walters?” Tilda clearly breathed a sigh of relief. “You really scared me! I thought your silence meant I was right! Mr. Walters is indeed a rare catch, top-notch in every way, but his relationship with lawyer Sirena is no secret. The entire Walters family acknowledges it, marriage is only a matter of time. If you have feelings for him, as your friend, I can only advise you to reconsider!”
Indeed, even Tilda thought they were a perfect match.
“Don’t worry, I know my place.”
“It’s not that you’re unworthy. Don’t underestimate yourself. It’s just that Mr. Walters has someone in his heart. He mentioned in an interview once that he’s moved by only one person. I still have that video saved on my USB because he looked so handsome that day. I’ll send it to you later.”
Rosalind tugged at her lips. “No need for that.”
“Tsk! It’s okay to fantasize occasionally. If you’re really looking for a boyfriend, I still recommend considering my cousin!”
Tilda was truly persistent, eager to set her best friend up with her cousin.
“Alright, let’s talk about this when I’ve made enough money.”
After hanging up the phone, Rosalind sat down and picked up a piece of toast. Before she could take a bite, Tilda’s video came through.
Hesitating for a moment, she chose to open it.
On the screen, Ulric was dressed in a dark suit with a black shirt underneath, adding a touch of aloofness and coolness to his refined and handsome face as he calmly faced the reporters.
“Mr. Walters, do you have any plans to get married soon?”
“No.”
“Do you have a particular type you admire more? Gentle or career-oriented?”
“Career-oriented, I suppose.”
The reporter smiled. “So Mr. Walters can answer so precisely because there’s someone who has moved your heart?”
Ulric paused for a moment and nodded. “Yes, and only one person has moved my heart.”
The reporter continued to ask many questions, which Ulric answered officially one by one.
But Rosalind didn’t continue watching, she turned off her phone and chewed her toast slowly.
For some reason, today’s toast tasted bad, really bad.
After finishing breakfast and tidying up the table, she went to find Cedric to ask about her schedule for the day.
While waiting in the elevator, Rosalind took out her phone and deleted the video from her WeChat.
After all, she wouldn’t watch it again.
