She engaged in a conversation with her mother, but she found herself conversing with her own thoughts as well.
During this period, Ulric had unexpectedly entered her life, and she had gradually grown accustomed to his presence. However, she occasionally found herself entangled in his relationship with Sirena.
How draining it was.
Life was simpler when she was alone. Apart from basic needs like eating and sleeping, she focused solely on work and earning money. She didn’t have to consider anything else or let another person affect her emotions.
That feeling was dreadful!
It was more bothersome than working overtime for an entire week.
Eva let out a sigh, saying, “Daughter, I know I shouldn’t instill these marriage fears in you constantly. Sooner or later, you’ll have to get married and have a family to rely on. But I can’t help worrying! I feel like all men have hidden motives.”
Rosalind reminisced about the past when her father was gentle, considerate, and seemingly flawless. She had been so infatuated with him that turning back seemed impossible.
“Mom, don’t dwell on those thoughts. Tomorrow you’ll undergo surgery, so you should rest more.” Rosalind helped her mother tuck in the quilt and smiled, saying, “Compared to the surgery, nothing else matters.”
How long had Rosalind waited for this day!
After settling her mother to sleep, Rosalind herself was too excited to fall asleep.
She got up and opened the internal software of the W Group on her computer, intending to organize some materials. However, her eyes couldn’t help but glance at Ulric’s account.
He was still online.
Undoubtedly, Ulric was a diligent and responsible CEO.
Rosalind stared at the screen for a while, realizing that she was behaving like an infatuated girl. She averted her gaze, but Ulric’s face lingered in her mind, making it impossible to concentrate on work. She shut down the computer, closed her eyes forcefully, and tried to sleep.
She didn’t know how long it took, but eventually, she drifted off. In a dazed state, she heard someone calling her name.
She abruptly opened her eyes and saw her mother already dressed, sitting on the bed. Malcolm and his parents were beside her…
“You’re finally awake. You stayed up working late again last night, didn’t you? You are so dedicated to your career.”
Her mother’s words snapped her back to reality. She got up, asking, “Why… why are all of you here?”
Malcolm smiled and gave her a reassuring look, signaling her not to worry.
Eva spoke directly, “I invited them to come. I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to handle waiting outside the operating room alone. Having Malcolm here puts my mind at ease.”
“Yes, Rosa, we came to keep you company!” Malcolm’s mother, who appeared kind and amiable, had only met Rosalind for the second time but already held a fondness for her. She warmly approached and held Rosalind’s hand.
Witnessing this scene, Eva’s objective was achieved.
She wanted to reaffirm her daughter’s position in the family repeatedly! She wanted the Hines family to understand that if they mistreated her daughter, as a mother, she wouldn’t take it lightly.
Soon, a nurse approached to take the patient to the operating room.
The red light outside turned on, and the words “In Surgery” caused Rosalind’s heart to skip a beat.
Suddenly, she felt a coat being draped over her shoulders, accompanied by a faint scent of mint.
Instinctively, she turned around and found Malcolm.
“You’re not dressed warmly enough, you might catch a cold.”
“I’ll be fine.” Rosalind politely declined his coat. “And I apologize sincerely! I had no idea my mom went to bother you again.”
“I’ve mentioned before that as long as it reassures your mother, it’s alright! Tilda informed me earlier that you’ve been working tirelessly to save money for this surgery. Now that it’s finally happening, the most important thing is that everything goes smoothly.”
Rosalind lowered her gaze and pondered for a while before speaking softly.
“Mr. Hines, you’ve witnessed the situation in my family. The doctor mentioned that my mother’s surgery may not be successful in one attempt, it could recur at any time in the future. So… we are not suitable for each other.”
