After Sirena’s return to the country, she settled in an upscale neighborhood not far from Easthaven Bay. The lavish residence originally belonged to Ulric’s parents before they moved abroad and entrusted it to her care.
In the eyes of the Walters family, Sirena was considered an inevitable addition through marriage.
Ulric parked his car in front of the villa and dialed Sirena’s number. “I’ve arrived at the entrance. Come outside.”
“I’m sorry, but… could you come in and assist me? The pain is excruciating, and I can’t manage to stand up.”
“Is it that severe?” Ulric furrowed his brows. “I’ll call an ambulance right away, and they can transport you directly.”
There was a brief pause on Sirena’s end before she responded, “No need for that. It’s just appendicitis. I’ll come out after resting for a bit. Please wait for me.”
“Alright.”
Ulric chose not to exit the car. After careful consideration, he felt it was inappropriate to meet Sirena alone late at night, so he contacted Johnny to accompany them to the hospital.
Johnny highly valued brotherhood, and upon hearing about Sirena’s illness, he immediately assured them he would join them without hesitation.
Before long, a pale-faced Sirena emerged from the villa.
She opened the passenger door and settled into the seat. Raising her gaze, she noticed Ulric appeared as though he had something to say but ultimately held back. “Buckle up. Johnny has already contacted the hospital. If it’s urgent, they can proceed with surgery tonight.”
“Thank you…”
Sirena moistened her pallid lips and leaned back in her seat.
The car contained only the two of them. If she turned her head slightly, she could catch a glimpse of his striking profile.
With the sunlight streaming through the windshield, Ulric’s features appeared chiseled and refined, as if meticulously crafted by a divine hand.
From the moment she first laid eyes on Ulric, she experienced the profound impact of love at first sight.
Sirena still vividly recalled that time. Due to Eva’s refusal to divorce and her subsequent suicide attempt, she and her mother had to hide in various locations within Jingtown. Eventually, they sought refuge with the Walters family through her mother’s prior connection with Ulric’s father.
At that time, he must have been merely thirteen years old, yet he already stood tall beside his parents, exuding a remarkable handsomeness.
But it was also during that year when she and her mother were forced to leave the country under the guise of studying abroad, relocating to New Zealand.
Thus, she harbored resentment toward her biological father, held an even deeper animosity toward Eva, and most of all, despised Rosalind!
Why should all her painstaking efforts to get close to Ulric be overshadowed by Rosalind effortlessly moving into his home?
Throughout the years, Sirena never once had the opportunity to enter Ulric’s private space-not even once!
“Do you think she’ll cause a scene if you leave her alone at home?”
Sirena couldn’t bring herself to mention Rosalind by name, so she referred to her as “she.”
Perhaps due to the pain, her voice sounded feeble, but her concern for Ulric was evident.
“That’s why Johnny is taking care of things.”
Considering the urgency of Sirena’s situation and their close proximity, Ulric decided to lend a helping hand.
After all, since Sirena’s return, she had been tirelessly occupied with company matters. Ulric had even glimpsed her account on the company’s internal software earlier. It would be unkind to deny her request.
“Well… you should have brought her along earlier. Don’t let her misinterpret anything.”
“She’s not feeling well today.”
Ulric believed Rosalind wouldn’t want anyone to witness her swollen face resulting from the slap.
