“Mr. Walters?!”
Rosalind was taken aback by Tilda’s almost screaming question. Ulric’s sudden appearance here felt as improbable as winning the lottery!
Without even turning around, Rosalind could already envision Tilda’s expression, which would undoubtedly lead to a barrage of questions. Thinking quickly, she put on a professional smile and briskly walked towards the car.
“Mr. Walters, is there something work-related?”
Ulric cast a cold glance at the person behind her but didn’t reveal anything. “Get in the car.”
“Of course.”
Rosalind nodded swiftly and turned to wave at Tilda. “I have something to attend to, so I’ll leave first! Let’s meet next week.”
To prevent any further escalation, she swiftly entered the car.
The ride was enveloped in silence, creating an eerie atmosphere within the car. Rosalind couldn’t quite pinpoint the reason behind it. Could it be because he didn’t get enough sleep last night?
As they approached the supermarket, Rosalind broke the silence. “I haven’t bought groceries yet. Can we make a brief stop by the roadside?”
Ulric kept his lips tightly pressed together but still turned the car into the underground parking lot of the supermarket.
Just as Rosalind was about to step out of the car, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.
“Who was that person just now?”
“Just now? That was my friend Tilda. We work together at Prosperity Holdings. She was also on the business trip to Wuwood City with us!”
So now he should understand! Shouting her name so abruptly on the street could have serious consequences!
Most importantly, Tilda was quite a gossip.
However, it was evident that Ulric’s focus wasn’t on that. “And the man?”
“He’s her cousin.”
“Hmm, and then?”
Rosalind blinked, not comprehending his meaning. Did he think Malcolm would be a good fit and wanted to recruit him into the W Group?
“Then… he’s a university physics professor. His father is in business, running a chain of supermarkets, and he’s an only child.” She provided all the information she knew.
But she noticed Ulric’s face growing darker and darker.
“You seem to know quite a lot.”
Just as Rosalind was about to respond, he got out of the car first.
Although she wasn’t adept at reading people’s thoughts, she could sense Ulric’s anger. The whole situation felt like a husband catching his wife engaging in some improper behavior.
Of course, since Ulric didn’t bring it up, Rosalind wouldn’t pursue it either. She was acutely aware of her own position.
After buying groceries and returning to Easthaven Bay, she cooked while he worked, as if everything was normal.
Except that night… Ulric used three condoms before letting her go.
Was it jealousy? But she hadn’t engaged in anything intimate with Malcolm. Could it be that a man’s possessiveness extends even to a substitute?
Rosalind weakly lay on the bed, pondering all this, and soon drifted off to sleep.

The weekend flew by, and the time had come for Rosalind to go to the head office.
Early in the morning, she meticulously freshened up, donned her professional attire, and double-checked that she had everything she needed before leaving.
“Let’s go.”
At the entrance, Ulric was already dressed in a suit. Even at home, he maintained impeccable attire and demeanor, emanating elegance and composure with every gesture.
She held her laptop bag and hesitated. “I can take the subway.”
If people saw her getting out of the CEO’s car, it would surely cause a commotion!
“My car will take us directly to a private spot where no one will see.”
“That’s not necessary! I can familiarize myself with the subway route!”
“I don’t want to repeat myself.”
His tone carried an added firmness of command.
