Chapter 7: I Have a Boyfriend

Rosalind wasted no time in responding to Mr. Walters.
“I have a boyfriend,” she replied, her decision made in a matter of seconds. Claiming to have a boyfriend seemed like the perfect solution to avoid any further entanglement with him, whether he was testing her or genuinely seeking a marriage partner for some unknown reason.
Ulric’s thin lips pressed together, and his eyes darkened slightly upon hearing her words.
“Really?” he questioned.
Rosalind, maintaining her composure, responded, “Why would I lie to you, Mr. Walters?”
Before he could reply, she slightly bowed and added, “I won’t disturb you any longer. Please give me the contract.”
“Alright,” Ulric coldly nodded, no longer pressing the matter. He mentioned that the contract was with his secretary and then closed the door to the suite.
Rosalind swiftly departed with the contract, hoping to dismiss the conversation as a mere figment of her imagination.
Ulric wanting to marry her? How absurd!

After obtaining the contract, Rosalind decided to visit Mr. Chan instead of directly handing it over to Anna.
Having dedicated so much time and effort to this project, being asked to step aside suddenly felt both emotionally and logically unreasonable.
However, Rosalind understood the importance of preserving Mr. Chan’s dignity as a leader. Despite feeling wronged, she knew she had to apologize for the sake of her job.
As soon as Mr. Chan saw Rosalind, his face darkened immediately.
“What do you want?” he questioned.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Chan… I realize I angered you yesterday. After careful consideration, I acknowledge that it was indeed my fault,” Rosalind said with a smile, stepping forward. “However, I have been responsible for the Huayi project all along. I’m concerned that if I hand it over to Anna abruptly, there might be mistakes that could negatively impact the project. I hope you can calm down and give me another chance.”
Rosalind humbled herself, adopting the sincerest tone to remind Mr. Chan to avoid impulsive actions.
The HanYang incident had already displeased the higher-ups, and if issues arose with Huayi as well, it wouldn’t only result in her termination.
After contemplating for a moment, Mr. Chan lifted his eyelids and glanced at her.
“Are you suggesting that only you can handle the Huayi project?”
“I wouldn’t dare claim that! It’s solely for the sake of ensuring the smooth progress of the Huayi project. Take a look at the contract, I have negotiated with them extensively and managed to secure the best possible terms. You know the immense effort required for that,” Rosalind explained.
Mr. Chan accepted the contract and skimmed through it, confirming that Rosalind had indeed achieved better terms than expected.
He coughed lightly and furrowed his brow, “I’ll give you one final chance. You witnessed yesterday how strict Mr. Walters is with the company. If any further issues arise with Huayi, you will be dismissed immediately.”
Relieved by his concession, Rosalind finally exhaled, “I will do my utmost. Thank you, Mr. Chan.”
Around the corner of the hotel, a tall man withdrew his gaze and extinguished his cigarette, his expression cold and distant.
Beside him, Johnny Chow chuckled heartily, exuding a mischievous air. “Tsk, that girl is quite attractive. No wonder even someone as reserved as you is interested in her! Don’t worry, leave it to me. It’s not difficult to woo a woman. Just say the word, and I’ll make sure she’s in your bed tonight!”
Ulric remained silent, partially concealed in the darkness.
Observing his lack of response, Johnny grew even more enthusiastic. “With a woman like her, I don’t even need to resort to force. A little intimidation from a few guys will suffice.”
“If you dare lay a hand on her, don’t bother returning to this country.”
