“Sachin, hurry… come and save me!”
“Where are you?” There was panic in Sachin’s voice.
Rosiley told him where she was and hung up the phone. She continued to sprint with all her might.
The wind was blowing in her ears. Rosiley was unable to hear anything but her own labored breathing.
Her legs seemed to be filled with lead. It was so heavy that she must slacken her pace. She turned back instinctively and saw the ferocious figure of the man approaching her.
Panicking, she bit her lip and quickened her pace.
“You stinking whore! Don’t let me catch you, or I’ll make you suffer!”
The man’s yell rang out from behind her. Rosiley knew he was telling the truth. If she were to fall into his hands again, she would surely suffer.
But her legs became heavier and heavier, and she began to slow down. The man got closer and closer.
She could not help but feel despair in her heart.
She really could not run anymore!
She bent down, her hands on her kneecaps, panting strenuously. Her throat was so dry that she thought it was burning. She felt really awful.
“Run. Why aren’t you running away?” The man was closing in on her, his voice cold and sinister.
She had finally been caught!
Her heart seemed to have fallen into an abyss—so totally desperate and hopeless!
Just as the man was about to reach out and grab her, a glaring light shone across them. The man instinctively raised his arm to shield his eyes. Soon, a car stopped somewhere near them.
A tall figure got out of the car and raced towards them.
When the man saw someone coming, he realized that the situation was not looking good. He immediately grabbed Rosiley’s arm and tried to drag her back to his car.
But the person who emerged had reached them. Under the bright headlights, the man could see his face and his complexion changed color.
When Rosiley saw Sachin, her entire person immediately relaxed. Her legs turned to jelly, and she nearly collapsed. Luckily, Sachin was there to support her.
“Sorry, I’m late.” Sachin apologized and looked at the distraught girl in front of him.
Strands of damp hair were stuck together, her face pale and her lips colorless. Even her lips, which were now forced into a smile, made him feel pained.
Sachin did not dare imagine the consequences if he had arrived late.
He clasped Rosiley tightly in his arms and then looked up, shooting a cold harsh glare at the man.
Coming into contact with his eyes, the man could not help but shudder. He cowered, bowed his head, and whispered, “Big brother.”
Big brother?!
Rosiley raised her eyebrows in astonishment, looking up at Sachin. So he knew this drunk?
“Calvin Lu, have you been drinking?”
Actually, he did not need to ask. Anyone could smell the stench of alcohol on Calvin Lu’s body.
“Yes,” he answered in a timid, cautious voice.
Sachin stared at him coldly. Then, he took out his cell phone to dial a number. Once the line connected, he immediately reported, “Someone’s driving drunk on Nanxing Road!”
Then he hung up the phone and said to Calvin Lu coldly, “Go on your way and reflect on your mistakes.”
“Big brother… ” Calvin Lu raised his head and looked up at him, an imploring look on his face. “I can’t go in. Dad won’t spare me.”
“That’s your business,” Sachin answered blandly, as if it had nothing to do with him.
He lowered his head to look at Rosiley in his arms and continued. “And… ” He paused, a murderous malice gleaming in his cold eyes. “When you are out, I will settle this score with you.”
Calvin Lu bowed his head again. When he did, a flicker of unease flashed across his eyes.
