Book:The werewolf grotto Published:2024-9-14

All day I couldn’t stop thinking about how this will affect my life, what about school and the future ? Most importantly what about Colton and I ?
Are you ready ? I heard Ray say, he was standing by the doorway of the living room we were all sat in. He had a kind of morbid look about him.
I sighed. Don’t have much of a choice, do I ?
Colton took hold of my hand and gave it a light squeeze to try and calm me down. I shuddered from the contact as silently he took me out of the living room and outside into the slightly breezy night.
Fresh air filled my lungs, it had been the first time I’d been out in days and relief fled through me.
I looked around to see five other men standing on the grass, including Toby, I raised my eyebrow and looked at Colton questionably.
Precaution, Colton explained. I don’t want you running off in fright so I’ve asked a few members of my pack to help.
Right, I swallowed back dryness and gripped hold of his hand even tighter.
On the inside I was freaking out, my heart was pounding and my body was shivering that badly I could barely walk on my jelly legs. I felt so sick, like any minute I’d just vomit. We went and stood in the middle of the grass, Colton on one side, Ray on the other.
I looked at my brother, who gave me a little smile. Will this hurt ?
Only for a little while, He swallowed, looking nervous too. Ray would shift tonight, only he could wait a little longer since he was used to it. It’ll get better once your pureblood starts kicking in, but I don’t know about you, you’re different than me.
Helpful, I quivered and glanced at Toby who gave me a reassuring smile, all the men surrounding us were quiet and didn’t speak. Finally my eyes met Colton’s and I rested my head on his arm. Don’t let me hurt anyone.
I won’t, he said. You’ll get through this.
I didn’t know whether I would or not. For the past few days I had experienced nothing but unreal pain and now the thought of getting more pain was enough to make me want to run for the hills.
Everything that has happened, meeting Colton, finding out about his secret life, neither of us able to stay away from each other, Jenny turning out to be the biggest bitch ever and Ray being a werewolf.
Everything just felt like a surreal nightmare.
So much had changed and happened in my life. How I managed to get sucked into this mess I’ll never know. But if I had the chance to turn back the time, I probably wouldn’t have changed a thing because I would never have met Colton.
Here it comes, Ray said beside me and I glanced nervously towards the sky, the full moon was coming out from behind a few dark clouds, shining brightly and looking right at me.
My bitten shoulder started to burn, but I barely felt it as I looked up at the moon in a trance. It was like it had captured me and was speculating me, shivers melted down my body and I gasped when they felt unexpected tingles spread over my body, in the tips of my fingers, on the soles of my bare feet.
I fell forward and I didn’t even feel it when my body connected with the grass. I groaned out loud when the tingles intensified.
I gulped and looked to my left to see a huge, black furred wolf walking over towards me. It was Colton and he had shifted into a wolf.
I didn’t feel scared or anything as he bent his big head and nuzzled his snout into my neck, nudging me enough to make me gasp.
A soft whimper came from him as I brought my arms around his big, hairy neck. It was so crazy to think he was human just a mere second ago and now stood before me was a huge wolf that was so beautiful it had my heart melting.
His fur was soft underneath my fingers as I moved them through. He was sniffing my neck, the air from his nostrils had me shivering as I lay still on the grass.
Colton pulled back his head and looked at me, his eyes were wide and deep brown, glistening slightly in the moonlight. It was like I could see him, not the wolf, but deep inside I could see Colton.
My heart was beating quickly as he once again whimpered a little, nudging me, his wolf ears slightly down in a submissive way.
It was like he was waiting and I didn’t know what he wanted me to do, but my body was not going through the pain like everybody thought.
I looked around, the men were still standing in human form and so was Ray, but there was one other wolf sitting on the grass. I knew straight away it was Toby. He was smaller than Colton, with light golden fur and big blue eyes.
I also realised, in my moment of feeling all these good feelings that nothing was happening to me. I frowned because I wasn’t stricken with pain or my bones weren’t snapping into a wolf shape.
I felt nothing but this restless stir in my body again, like I needed to go somewhere or do something.
Colton still had his head bent and was now licking my moonwalker bite mark with his tongue. I looked down to see he had pulled the bandage off, the red and en-flamed bite was starting to heal and disappear from my skin. How was that happening ?
I looked at the moon again, it was whispering to me. Little whispers floating softly through me.
I breathed out heavily as I listened to the voices. But soon, the moon disappeared behind thick clouds and everything faded.
I sat up and a few seconds later I felt hands cup my face. I turned and looked up to see Colton had shifted back into his human form and was looking at me with confusion.
He opened his mouth, but closed it again, like he couldn’t form words for me not turning into a wolf.
But I knew. I wasn’t ready to change yet. I needed to go. The Wolf Cave was calling me and answers would be found there.
Colton
I brought the glass of whiskey to my mouth and took a gulp full of the amber coloured liquid. I looked around my office, the loneliness creeping in around me once again, just lurking in the shadows and filling me with nothing but hate.
Scowling at how fucking irritated I was, I slammed the glass down on my desk, rubbing my aching head with my hand as I thought back to that night, never escaping my torturing thoughts.
Mum, what’s happening ? I asked in fear as my mother dragged me into a secret closet and turned me around to face her. Her eyes were wide as her once angelic face was twisted into agony.
Stay in here and don’t make a sound. No matter what you hear you, do nothing. She sniffed back tears and took me into her arms. I could sense her sadness as she hugged me, a trait that I had. Mommy will always be with you Colton, I promise.
My mother bent over kissed my head quickly. I wanted to hug her. I wanted to tell her everything was going to be okay. But I couldn’t because I knew that it wasn’t going to be.
Don’t leave, I begged, but she shook her head and smiled weakly at me.
You need to live Colton, lock the door. With that she backed away from me. I watched as one single tear fell out of her left eye as she closed the door of the secret room I was in, leaving me alone in the darkness with a small peep hole in level with my eyes.
I reached out and locked the door with trembling fingers. Afterwards I was stuck, unable to move, even though I wanted to. I realised then she had given me a special command, one a wolf mother can only give to her cub.
