Mr Honda. The bouncer nods his head and looks at me. Miss Honda.
How does he know who we are ?
I thank the bouncer nervously and follow Ray inside.
How did he know who I was ? I ask before we head through another set of doors.
Perks of being Colton’s bitch. Ray grins.
I scowl and smack his arm. He laughs and throws his arm around my shoulder as we walk into the club together. It’s different than underground part of the club, livelier and more colourful.
The music that is already on is loud and booming as the club continues to fill up with people. The DJ system up on this floor looks bigger and so does the dance floor.
We head towards the bar that gleams under the flashing lights. It’s already heaving with alcohol-hungry people shouting for drinks. Ray id served immediately.
Two salt and beers.
The bartender nods and quickly pushes two small, white containers with a silver ‘S’ on top and two beers toward Ray.
Ray leans on the bar and slides one of the containers towards me. I look at it cautiously, wondering why on earth he is giving me it.
I can’t take that !
Why ? he asks, popping open his container.
Colton said humans aren’t allowed to take it and he doesn’t like it when werewolves give them to humans either. You’ll get in trouble, Ray !
Ray chuckles. Colton isn’t here and I enjoy breaking rules. You’ll be fine, just take it. It’ll give you a buzz.
But what if I…die ?
He rolls his eyes. Don’t be stupid, Layla. You have werewolf in you… somewhere.
Does that even count ? Ray gives me a look and I decide to just take the damn pill. I pop the lid open to see a small, red pill sitting inside. I kept reminding myself that it isn’t a nasty drug, but a supplement for werewolves to let loose.
I watch Ray put the pill on the end of his finger and then on his tongue. He chases it back with beer and waits for me to follow.
I look around, somewhat nervous. When there’s nothing to stop me, I do the same. I think it’s going to taste like salt, but it doesn’t, it tastes sweet, like cherry, which is surprising.
Ray starts laughing. It’s safe. You can stop hyperventilating, you weirdo.
I roll my eyes as the DJ suddenly shouted. Howl like you mean it !
The club erupts with howling people and I grimace with embarrassment, wondering how many werewolves actually howled then.
I start to feel giddy as Ray and I continue to drink at the bar. There’s this one girl who comes up to Ray and starts flirting with him, but he let her down gently. In fact, he seems a little closed off.
As the night progresses and the club gets busier, Ray’s mood flips from having fun to wariness. I don’t know if it’s my imagination, but I can’t help but notice his eyes moving over to a particular girl in the crowd.
I follow his gaze to see her dancing in the middle of the dance floor with guys surrounding her.
She is crazy beautiful, with long, sleek black hair and a gorgeous body. My brother can’t tear his eyes away.
You haven’t stopped looking at her Ray, why don’t you go over ?
What ? Ray asks, acting dumb and looking away from the girl.
You don’t have to stay with me all night. You can go talk to her if you want ?
Ray shakes his head quickly, his eyes still looking wary. No.
Why ? I ask. It’s unlike Ray not to go after something he wants, and clearly, she is someone he wants
I don’t want her to see me.
I frown at that, but by his facial expression, I decide to drop it. He takes my drink out of my hand and puts it on the bar. Before I have a chance to ask, he takes hold of my hand and dragged me onto the dance floor.
I love this song, Ray says and starts dancing.
Things start to become blurry as I start moving my hips to the beat of the music.
I become light headed and giggly as we continue dancing like loons. I push my hands above my head and twisted my body to the beat. I close my eyes, just enjoying this feeling of letting go.
But when I open my eyes, I gasp when the room seems to go completely different and more defined.
I’m feeling a lot of things at once. Excitement, fear, heat, adrenaline. It’s intoxicating and overwhelming, but strangely addicting.
Go with it Layla, you’re okay, Ray says and steadies me as I sway.
I nod and swallow deeply as I continue dancing, letting the feeling take full control of me.
Suddenly Ray cries out, reaching up and taking hold of his head. When I look around, other men seem to be doing it also.
What’s wrong ? I ask Ray frantically.
The pain Ray is in seems to soon stop and he straightens his back.
He palms his head and rubs vigorously, looking very much annoyed.
Colton’s not happy.
Where is he ? I ask Ray, looking around the club after he told me that Colton had just went all alpha and warned every male wolf in his club away from me.
My heart starts to sink when I couldn’t see him anywhere.
I don’t know, Ray grumbled, still looking slightly pissed off. He better stay out of my head or I’ll kill him.
Oh, stop it Ray, I rolled my eyes and laughed a little, maybe that was from being drunk. I wasn’t sure. But I was strangely great and energetic.
In a way I wanted Colton to pop up out of nowhere, I wanted to see him.
I mean it Layla, Ray added, looking even annoyed with me.
I sighed, he was right though. There was no real need for Colton to send out that warning just now like an overprotective ass.
I was enjoying myself and having fun with my brother, why would he send out a warning when I was perfectly fine ?
My mind began working overtime, much to my dislike, wondering why he’d do that. Was he angry about me taking Salt ? Did he even know that I had taken it ?
I continued to fidget on the spot, looking around for him and wondering why he hadn’t shown up yet. Usually he did just pop up like a daisy in the grass. When Colton made no show I glowered in anger. Was he that truly pissed off with me he wouldn’t even come and talk to me ?
I hadn’t done anything wrong. Okay, so I may have given in and taken Salt against Colton’s wishes, but I felt fine. I did.
Ray ? A female voice interrupted my thoughts.
I turned to see that stunning girl from before that Ray had been eyeing up, the one with the glossy, black hair and stunning face and body.
She was looking at my brother with big blue eyes, like seeing him was a shock to her or something.
I glanced at Ray to see him unmoving, his face completely impassive, but I also noticed the slight fear in his eyes.
