The elevator binged and she looked up from the ground with a bored expression. But just as soon as she looked ahead her heart stopped and a gasp left her mouth.
Abigor walked down the road with Karl in front of the apartment, trying to reach the parked car.
His eyes were glued to the message on his screen.
Dr Shulman: Boss I have the results, do you want me to send them to you?
Abigor’s fingers hovered over the keyboard as a look of determination swept across his face. He typed the thing he was struggling with earlier.
Send it.
He kept his phone back inside his suit pocket and just before he could enter his car, he halted. He felt like he was being watched by at least 5 people.
“No, seven,” he thought as his gaze ran around the parking lot with a hand over the gun on his waistband.
“Boss” he heard Karl behind him in a monotone voice, “I think-”
“I know” he interrupted “There is a total of 7 assassins here. 2 are placed behind you, 2 on the left behind the rover, 1 on the right behind the tree. I cannot locate the remaining 2 right now” Abigor whispered while loading his gun.
Before they could discuss further, they heard a low gunshot as Abigor quickly bent down and shot the ones behind Karl. The two had their faces fully covered in black clothing.
Karl quickly shot the two on the left as blood splattered around the area and groans of pain echoed. Abigor gritted his teeth in rage as the single thought of someone daring to attack him surfaced.
“Boss 4 down!” Karl shouted over the loud gunshots. Now there was only one person visible to them, shooting blindly and uncontrollably.
“3 more to go” Abigor barked as he noticed none of his bodyguards were present “Where the fuck are the bodyguards?”
“I have no idea”
The last one ran madly towards them while shooting the last of his bullets which Abigor easily dodged and shot him exactly between his eyes.
Sweat trickled down Abigor’s forehead as he ran his gaze around while reloading his gun in the meantime.
“Boss I think you were wro-”
“Shut it” Abigor interjected Karl, trying to focus on even the slightest sound made by the hidden assassins with his eyes closed.
His ears pricked when he felt a slight gust of air, but it was a little late. Because when he quickly turned around the two assassins had already jumped from the balcony of the first floor.
Gun in one hand and a knife in the other.
“Fuck! ABOVE!” Abigor snarled as he grabbed the hand holding the gun of the first assassins and pushed him to the ground. In the meantime, the assassin had managed to slice the side of Abigor’s face with the knife.
Abigor growled in anger and punched the man whose face was covered like the other attackers, while Karl had managed to hold down the other one.
“Don’t kill that one” Abigor ordered before pointing his gun at the weeping man and shooting him directly between the eyes without any mercy.
He stood up and wiped the blood seeping through the cut with the back of his hand as he walked towards the attacker struggling in Karl’s hold.
Abigor kneeled down in front of him so that now they were face to face. He snatched the cloth covering his face to see the man with the bleeding face. Tattoos crept up his neck as he laughed mockingly.
Abigor gritted his teeth “Who sent you?”
The man continued laughing “Shouldn’t have messed with him” he kept repeating.
Abigor’s anger intensified as he punched the guy with all his strength, cracking his jaw and nose in the process. The guy groaned loudly in pain but turned to face the mafia don again.
“WHO IS IT!” Abigor snarled, yanking him towards him with his collar. The attacker slightly shivered in fear but refused to back down.
The assassin spitted on Abigor face. Karl gaped in terror as the spit mixed with blood trickled down his boss’s face. Abigor’s face remained expressionless as he stood up while wiping his face his suit sleeves.
Karl instinctively scooted back, knowing exactly what was going to happen while the assassin stared at them with confusion and pure fear now.
“If you had just answered my god damned question I would have given you an easy death” he growled as he kicked the man on the side of the head.
The assassin fell on the concrete as his head busted open with impact and cried in pain. He felt a painful weight over his head and managed to look up to see Abigor had planted his feet over his head.
“Tell me” he roared as he painfully squeezed his head against the floor “TELL ME WHO SENT YOU!”
When the assassin still refused Abigor rained kicks at him until he was beaten black and blue, unable to talk or move. His face had gone purple and red as he struggled to breathe; the whole area had become a puddle of red with numerous dead bodies lined up.
When Abigor was sure that he wasn’t going to answer no matter how hard he beat him, he pulled out his gun while breathing heavily and pointed it towards him.
The words the assassin said before he pulled the trigger echoed louder in his heart than the gunshot.
“. . . there are attacks everywhere nowadays ”
The same words Abigor had muttered to Silverio yesterday at the party.
Abigor quickly pulled down the shirt of the now dead assassin and sure enough, there was a tiger seal tattoo on his chest, the symbol of the spanish mafia.
“Boss, all of them have it,” Karl said urgently as he checked the other assassins.
“Silverio that bastard” Abigor gritted out in rage.
He ran his hand through his hair in frustration as Karl called up their men to clean the area. Abigor’s phone binged and he looked at it in disinterest.
His eyes widened at the message, Dr Shulman had sent. He opened the pdf and the only sentence that caught his eyes, made his heart stop for a second.
Test result: Positive
Now it was confirmed. Salvador Paulo, the brother who was killed, and the blood found in Aria’s drawer were the same.
Aria killed him.
“Aria” Abigor whispered in disbelief before his eyes fell on the piled-up bodies.
“Aria!” before he could process, his feet were already carrying him towards her apartment. His heart throbbed in pain at the worst-case scenarios as he ran like his life depended on it.
Abigor quickly ran towards the elevator and pressed the button impatiently. He groaned loudly in frustration when the elevator didn’t come as his gaze fell on the stairs leading up.
Without a second thought, he ran towards it.
He climbed the stairs and his eyes widened when he saw both his bodyguards and Aria’s bodyguards dead bodies near the entrance of the elevator on the 2nd floor.
His jaw clenched as he ran even faster towards his destination, he could now hear faint groans and punch sounds. He finally reached the floor and the scene in front of his eyes, made him stop dead in his tracks.
His hand around his gun tightened as he watched Aria landing punches on two of the attackers, covered in black clothing. One already laid dead at the side with his neck bent in a peculiar manner.
