“No” he cried out while shaking violently “I’ll do it!”
Draven’s movements stopped as he turned to look at Abigor with a proud smile “That’s my good son!” he praised while backing off.
Abigor’s arm shook as he pointed the gun at the helpless old man. The man couldn’t say anything about his condition, so he just stared at the conflicted boy standing in front of him while holding a gun at him.
“I don’t have to worry when I have young lads like you to protect us”
The words the man had once said to Abigor with such a careless smile and a pat on his shoulder which showed that he trusted him, echoed in Abigor’s mind.
Tears after tears escaped his eyes as his hands shook uncontrollably “DO IT!” his father encouraged with a thundering voice as he finally pulled the trigger.
A small whimper of pain followed by the loud uneven chirping of crows was heard. He breathed heavily as the smell of the bullet made his skin crawl. He never looked down, too afraid to look at the innocent life he had taken.
A harsh hand gripped the back of his neck and made him look down “Look at him, son!” his father said as Abigor saw the dead figure which had a gunshot on his chest, bleeding out.
His eyes blurred and he started trembling.
“It’s the starting of the life you are going to lead from now on Abigor. Get used to it”
After saying this his father walked away while Abigor’s knees gave up and he fell down, his black jeans became wet from the blood of the old man and only then Abigor noticed the crushed sunflowers on the flowerbed coated in crimson.

“Don’t you hate your father?”
Aria asked while staring at his face with an emotion foreign to her; sadness.
He shook his head, pulling her closer and hugging her tightly “I don’t”
She frowned at his answer, surely the things his father had made him suffer were extreme. Any normal person would hate that kind of father.
“My father succeeded. .” he whispered and looked down at her eyes staring up at him “. . I killed my emotions, I felt so much that one day I just stopped feeling. Now I kill people without remorse and I sleep peacefully at night. I don’t feel anything, Aria”
His eyes seemed so empty, almost hollow, devoid of any and all emotions.
“Then what is it that you feel for me?”
His eyes widened at her question as his hold loosened “I don’t want you to leave, I want you with me” he answered.
“That doesn’t answer my question,” she said with a straight face as only silence followed. They laid in each others embrace until Aria flinched and jerked off the bed.
“Shit! I have a really important performance this evening, I need to start preparing” she mumbled, wrapping the sheets around her body as she slowly stood up while wincing in pain at the soreness.
“Where?” he asked.
“It’s an event” she replied while limping towards the washroom.
“A charity event?” he asked as she halted and turned back to look at him sceptically.
“How do you know?”
“I’m the chief guest and you are my date” he said while shrugging and sitting up, putting on his pants.
“No, if we go together everyone will know and think we are a couple!” she retorted back, horrified because she knew that place would be swarming of reporters.
His face darkened as he glared her down “And that is a problem because?”
“I don’t want it,” she said, aggravated “You cannot force me!”
She didn’t back off and glared at him. Ties with the Mafia Boss, the head of Hayes family, could fuck up her whole career, even though people respected them. It didn’t mean they’d have to respect her too.
She would be isolated with the fear of crossing the Mafia Boss.
He didn’t reply and quietly buttoned up his shirt, taking his time to fix the cufflinks. Aria stood there breathing heavily, piqued by his carelessness.
“Try me”
He said with a stoic face as he picked up his coat from the chair and stormed out of her room.
Abigor walked out of her room and saw Karl and Kahlil laughing and eating at the kitchen counter. They stole kisses here and there as Abigor almost gagged at the open display of affection.
“Stop fooling around in my house”
Abigor grumbled as he settled beside Karl and they quickly stiffened. Kahlil jumped in surprise and went back to making grilled cheese sandwiches for everyone.
“It’s not your house boss” Karl said while chewing calmly.
Abigor raised a brow threateningly “Well, the owner is mine so it’s only natural that her house is also mine”
Karl shook his head defeatedly while skimming his eyes through the newspaper. Abigor looked around to see Kahlil’s back facing them, he quickly texted a person secretly and asked them to bring what he asked.
Karl noticed his boss’s weird gestures but didn’t dare say a word. Abigor wasn’t a person to do things secretively.
After texting, his gaze snapped at Karl looking at him with the side of his eyes.
“Wrap it up quick, we have somewhere we need to be”
Karl nodded at Abigor’s orders and gulped down his sandwich.
“Did you say something?” Kahli said while turning to look at them. Karl shook his head quickly while grinning at him a little.
“Nothing, babe”
He nodded and turned back again, plating the sandwiches.
Abigor’s clenched fist came in front of his mouth, trying to hold in his laughter “Babe?” he said teasingly as Karl rolled his eyes and went back to eating his sandwiches.
Abigor picked up a sandwich that Kahlil had served him as his other hand caressed the petals of the freshly watered sunflowers in the vase beside the counter. His mind working at full speed at the disturbing things he found in Aria’s room.
Chloroform?
Blood? Whose? Or is it her own blood?
Is it a weird kink to store one’s own blood?
The perfectly cooked sandwich felt bitter in his mind as Benjamin’s words from yesterday echoed in his head.
“I think you’d be really interested in this. .”
