Book:The mafia king and his princess Published:2024-9-13

Abigor sat in his office, reading documents after documents and making plans to attack the Spanish. He was a vindictive person and he didn’t take rejection well.
So when the Spanish Mafia refused to share their missile, Abigor had decided to either destroy them or blackmail them into giving up.
He sighed and took off his reading glasses while rubbing his forehead in distress. He was already tired and was ready to retire for the day, go back to his little tigress.
He stared off in space dreamily wondering what might she be doing right about now, the way he was so lost in his rage in the morning that he almost hurt her, made him curse himself.
He knew he got what he deserved, being kicked out of her apartment.
A sharp knock on the glass door pulled him out of his depressing thoughts as he gave a quick reply to come in.
Karl came in with a tight frown on his face and a few documents in his hand.
“What crawled up your ass?” Abigor commented as Karl shook his head and kept the documents in front of Abigor.
Abigor had sent Karl to Blue Bird Orphanage, to investigate and collect information on his little love who was so mysterious and quiet all the time.
“Boss I went to the orphanage as you ordered and investigated the headmistress Mrs Dias” Karl said while taking out a handkerchief and wiping the sweat from his forehead.
“And?” Abigor asked while dropping his pen on the table and picking up the pale blue document that Karl brought.
“She knew next to nothing about Ms Leighton. She just knew that Ms Leighton arrived at the orphanage during the Spanish-American mafia war with other orphaned kids and never uttered a word about her parents, so they just assumed that her parents must have died during the war and took her in”
Abigor listened to all this with scrunched up brows, how the wars had destroyed families over the ages. He had always felt remorse for them but after finding out that Aria might be one of the victims, made it a million times worse for him.
“I think you should see the file boss, page 207. . .” Karl said while gulping a bit, it was the first time Abigor had seen Karl so tense and nervous.
Nevertheless, he opened the file. Abigor recognized the file, it contained the name and information of all the people who were killed in the mafia war. The government had no data whatsoever because they refused to accept the fatality and blamed it all on the criminal groups.
Abigor was the one who had ordered to collect information when his father was still the head of the Hayes family, so he could reimburse all those who lost their loved ones and provide the orphaned children to a good orphanage.
His father had never cared for them and always ignored it as a thing of the past till he was the mafia king.
He flipped through the pages with a heavy heart, until his body jerked and he stared at the certain name written on it.
Aria Leighton.
“It must be a coincidence” he mumbled as his other hand balled in a fist “There can be hundreds of Aria Leighton for all we know!”
Karl nodded and took a seat in front of him “I know boss, but. . .” he trailed off and quieted down.
“BUT WHAT?” Abigor growled in impatience as his grip on the file tightened. Normally there were photos of the deceased in front of the names, but this was the only page where there was no photo. Just an address and nothing else.
“Mrs Dias, the headmistress of the orphanage, told me that years ago Ms Leighton was found right in front of this house. The house mentioned in the file” Karl stuttered and sighed “the house was on fire according to her and Ms Leighton was found crying in front of it. We tried to search the owner of the house in the database, but there was nothing”
“Then why is her name in this fucking file?” he snarled while tapping on the name scribbled with blue ink which had lightened over the years “Why didn’t they notice that the Aria Leighton written here is in the orphanage and NOT dead!”
“That’s the thing, just a burnt body was found inside the house and the neighbours confirmed that it was Aria Leighton who used live in the house and whose body was found. There were so many deaths that we just accepted the information without much research at that time” Karl said as Abigor nodded and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Have you searched for her?”
“We did” Karl replied “But the only Aria Leighton in this region we found was the madam and no traces of the dead Aria Leighton”
Abigor sighed as he flipped the pages aimlessly while Karl continued.
“Moreover, Ms Leighton’s past is close to nothing. We could find nothing at all, her information starts from this year, the year you met her and all the crap on Google”
“It’s as if someone deliberately tried to hide information” he mumbled further.
When Abigor said nothing and stared at the name Aria Leighton with clenched jaws, Karl decided to test the waters.
“Do you trust her?” he asked as quietly as he could, so as to not anger the intimidating man.
Abigor’s sharp glare rooted him to his spot as he looked at Karl maniacally “Is that a fucking joke? Of course I trust her!”
Karl knew his boss was crazy for the beauty who had made a place just for herself in the cold steely mafia’s heart, but he never would have guessed that he would trust her so unconditionally even when all the proves were against her.
“But sir, don’t you think we should be caref-”
“Shut the fuck up Karl before I blow your brains out and make you lick it” Abigor snarled in rage as Karl instantly quieted down.
“Have you searched for that bratty brother of her?” he further asked as Karl nodded.
“His record is clean, nothing suspicious. It says he left the orphanage at 18 to live with Ms Leighton” Karl said and handed the documents which contained Kahlil’s records.
“Fucking hell” Abigor cursed, he had no idea what was going on. That little vixen was so much more than he could ever imagine.
The door to his office burst open as Abigor looked up to see the man with dirty blonde curls and wide eyes, standing in black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt with a black leather jacket on top.
“Ben” Abigor greeted emotionlessly “took you long enough to come back, I thought you died”
Ben gave out a small laugh as he walked in nervously. Abigor frowned at his movements, because the Benjamin he knew never got nervous.
Nevertheless Ben cracked a lame joke “Boss, I’m like a cockroach. I don’t die easily”
Abigor rolled his eyes and closed the file on his hand, putting it aside “So? Why do you look like someone kicked you in the nuts?”
