“You…” Upon hearing this, Dull’s face turned ashen with rage. Chris Shelby’s words were tantamount to a severe slap in his face in front of everyone. Wilson asked Chris Shelby, “Death, why did you attack the Knights’ Liberty?”
“There’s no particular reason, I just couldn’t stand the Knights’ Liberty!” Chris Shelby said with disdain, “A mere Knights’ Liberty dared to kidnap my wife. If I hadn’t been lenient, the entire Knights’ Liberty would probably no longer exist!”
Wilson narrowed his eyes and questioned, “Death, aren’t you afraid that the International Mercenary Alliance will retaliate?”
At this, Chris Shelby scoffed. He knew very well what the International Mercenary Alliance was-a mere coalition of mercenaries from around the world. However, most mercenary groups had no say in the alliance. The real power in the International Mercenary Alliance was held by the five major world mercenary groups. Besides the Knights’ Liberty, Wilson’s Light’s Mission was the number one mercenary group in the world. It was for this reason that Wilson had become the leader of the International Mercenary Alliance. Each of the five major groups was immensely powerful and together could even overthrow a small nation.
However, Chris Shelby showed no fear. He pulled a token from his pocket and tossed it out, stating calmly, “Take a look at this. Are you sure you want to confront me?”
“Order of Death!”
Seeing the token, everyone stood up in shock. The Order of Death represented Death himself. Once Chris Shelby issued the Order of Death, it meant a fight to the death. If the International Mercenary Alliance really decided to confront Chris Shelby, they would have to endure his wrath.
Seeing the Order of Death on the table, Wilson fell silent and did not speak. Seeing Wilson’s silence, Chris Shelby stood up, ready to leave. Just then, a thousand fully armed mercenaries blocked his path.
Chris Shelby turned his head and mockingly asked Wilson, “Wilson, are you sure you want to keep me here?”
Wilson’s face shifted between expressions. Finally, he clenched his teeth and commanded, “Let him go!” At his order, the thousand armed mercenaries cleared a path.
“Hahaha!”
Chris Shelby laughed heartily and then swaggered away. Watching his retreating figure, Dull clenched his fists, wishing he could kill him. But Dull knew that with his ability, he could never kill Chris Shelby.
Dull gritted his teeth and said to Wilson, “Wilson, are you really going to let Death walk away like this?”
Wilson responded coldly, “Dull, if we don’t let him go, what do you propose? Do you really want to openly defy Death? You’ve seen the Order of Death he issued. Once Death becomes enraged, he’ll surely summon all his Death Guards!”
“The Death Guards, as you well know, are a group of devils! They are the elite chosen from a million warriors of Amerosia, each capable of taking on a hundred men. Given the strength of our International Mercenary Alliance, it’s impossible to defeat the Death Guards!”
Hearing Wilson’s words, everyone nodded. Chris Shelby, leading just three thousand Death Guards, had already swept through the entire Knights’ Liberty. Their combat prowess was terrifying. If Chris Shelby were to summon tens of thousands of Death Guards, even the International Mercenary Alliance would be in trouble.
Dull’s face was extremely gloomy, his teeth clenched, not uttering a single word.
“Sigh,” Wilson sighed lightly. “Let’s set aside the matter of Death for now, and discuss how we can find the fragment of the Dragon Emblem.”
“It is well known that the Dragon Emblem fragment, left by the martial overlord Dragon Emperor of Amerosia a millennium ago, not only contains his techniques but also involves the secrets of his treasure and the third step of martial arts.”
“According to reliable information, this fragment of the Dragon Emblem is in Oxwoods, but no one knows the exact location. Several major powers in the Western underworld are already searching for it, so we must act quickly!”
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded, their eyes ablaze with fervor.
The Dragon Emblem fragment! It was something everyone coveted.
Even Dull showed a hint of greed on his face upon hearing this.
…
After returning from Mercenary City, Chris Shelby took some time to rest.
The battle at Knights’ Isle had startled Esther, but nothing else had occurred.
As for Dragon and the others, they went ahead with their planned peaceful visit to Oxwoods.
After the visit, they planned to lead three thousand Death Guards back to Amerosia.
As for the little girl Chris Shelby had found, he entrusted her to Lynx.
Chris Shelby asked Lynx to use the resources of the Oxwoods Springfield Crew to help the little girl find her parents and send her home.
Meanwhile, Chris Shelby and Esther temporarily went to the Royal Hospital in Oxwoods.
Esther’s college friend, Lily Peake, had been accidentally injured during an attack at a party, and they went to visit her.
Upon reaching the hospital, they found Lily Peake’s room.
Entering, they saw Lily Peake lying in her hospital bed.
Seeing Esther, Lily Peake exclaimed with joy, “Esther, you’re alright? You were kidnapped by those assassins at the party, and I was so worried.”
Esther replied with a smile, “I’m fine now! Lily, how are you?”
Relieved to see Esther safe, Lily Peake let out a sigh of relief.
After all, it was Lily Peake who had invited Esther to the party. If not for her, Esther wouldn’t have been kidnapped.
Lily Peake smiled and said, “I’m okay now, just got scratched by shrapnel when the bomb exploded. I’ll be discharged in a couple of days!”
Lily Peake was relatively lucky; several others had been killed outright by rocket fire.
Lily Peake looked at Chris Shelby and Esther and said, “I’m glad you two are fine; otherwise, I would have blamed myself for life.”
Esther smiled and replied, “Lily, we’re friends, you shouldn’t speak so formally. Plus, this wasn’t your fault, you couldn’t have known this would happen.”
Seeing that Esther did not blame her, a smile appeared on Lily Peake’s face.
Just then, the door to the room was pushed open.
A man in his fifties entered, his face etched with concern.
“Lily, are you alright?” he asked, seeing Lily Peake.
Lily Peake shook her head and said, “Dad, I’m fine!”
She turned to Chris Shelby and Esther and introduced, “This is my dad, Harris, who is also the Amerosian ambassador to Oxwoods.”
Chris Shelby and Esther were taken aback.
They had not expected the man before them to be the Amerosian ambassador to Oxwoods.
