Meanwhile, inside the police station, a man decked out in a tailored suit requested to see the chief. As they recognized him, his request was honored instantly.
“Welcome, sir,” they showered him with respect as they brought him to the chief. The chief, upon seeing him, greeted him with courtesy. The man’s appearance indicated that he was sent by a prominent figure who was not to be offended at any cost.
“Mr. Bryan, what brings you here?” Bryan was Zack Anderson’s right-hand man. His presence meant Zack Anderson’s shadow was also there.
Bryan’s calm gaze fell on the chief. “I came regarding the present case. I have something useful.” The chief quickly understood his hint and called the police officers handling the case.
The officers who interrogated Ivy broke into a cold sweat upon seeing Bryan. “Sir…”
“I am very disappointed with the police force. You all claim to bring justice yet let a criminal escape right under your nose,” Bryan got straight to the point.
The chief could only sigh, ‘What have they done this time?’
“What did we do wrong, sir?” the police officers responded respectfully.
“Have they caught the criminal?”
“No,” they answered.
“Really? Or did you let him run away freely, proceeding to interrogate her when you know the evidence is void?” The officers couldn’t refute; he was right. They had no intention of chasing the criminal because someone was controlling them behind the scenes.
Bryan had no time to waste lecturing the police, so he tossed a pile of papers at them. “Here, I’ve helped you do your work. Get him and make him admit who hired him.”
As Bryan turned to leave, he threw another hint. “Don’t forget to tell the one who bribed you that the Madam is not a pushover.” The officers subconsciously jerked at the realization.
Bryan sneered at them, “The real culprit is unaware that a surprise is coming…”
After Bryan left, the chief turned to the two officers. “I am very disappointed with both of you.” The officers placed their faces down; they knew they had been exposed and would have to face consequences.
At the exit of the police station:
“MOVE!”
All the reporters flinched at the monotonous voice. As they turned, they saw an elegant figure moving forward with two hefty men by his side. His eyes burned with ferocity, and every step he took exuded rage. Their hearts thudded at the sight of him.
“I SAID MOVE!” They immediately made way for the imposing figure.
Ivy smiled at her husband. After being betrayed by Dave, she never thought having a man by her side would make her feel relieved.
Zack wrapped his arms around her waist and whispered, “I got you.” Susan overheard and smiled, thinking what a lovely couple they were.
Zack led Ivy to the Rolls-Royce parked around the corner while Susan and Joan followed with the bodyguards. The reporters, stunned by Zack Anderson’s presence, finally moved only after he left.
Inside the car, Zack fixed his gaze on Ivy. “I told you not to let them bully you.”
Ivy sighed, acknowledging that he was right. “Yeah, you did.” She admitted. “Oh, those were the guys who have been following me around for quite some time.”
For the past few days, she noticed she was being followed. She never expected Zack Anderson to care for her to the extent of sending her bodyguards to protect her. “That’s so sweet of you, Zack.”
Zack looked away, ignoring her. Ivy shook her head, smiling at the man she still expressed her gratitude to.
“Thank you, Hubby.” There was no reply.
Then she noticed the driver’s direction, “Where are we going?”
“We are going back home,” Zack finally spoke after ignoring her.
“What?” Ivy raised an eyebrow. “Do you perhaps want me to quit?”
Zack chuckled, looking at her intently. “I am not a jerk like my nephew who would want a woman to quit her career for the sake of a relationship.”
His reply silenced Ivy as she had overreacted a little. “I’m sorry.”
“You will only return to this city on the day of the press conference,” Zack stated.
Even Ivy wasn’t sure of the date of Isabelle’s management agency’s press conference. It seemed her husband had been analyzing the situation behind the scenes. “Isabelle is in for a surprise.”

Since the reporters couldn’t get a statement from Ivy, they published another article that stirred up the industry:
