The police officer agreed to her request, there was no way her slender legs could escape without getting caught and if she decides to escape it will just prove the claim. Joan left in a hurry and slid along the wall of the restroom.
“What if I get arrested, this isn’t what I signed up for?” She typed on her phone keypad to send a text, she refused to just sit back and let herself be dragged into the mess.
*Why am being called for questioning huh, this isn’t part of the plan.*
Although she was told never to send them texts, she resisted. She waited for over thirty seconds before she received a reply.
* told you not to text me, dimwit, what if she suspects you.*
Just like that, her reply ended. “What, is that her answer?” Joan said in frustration, she sent another text.
*You promised I wouldn’t be suspected by the police.*
There was no reply. Joan smirked, “Then I’ll make sure you go down with me.”
Ding. She immediately received a reply.
*F*ck you, Joan, I told you to trust me, but what did you do instead, increase the risk of getting caught. Things are going according to plan, so don’t fret.*
Joan took a deep breath and relaxed her nerves. *Did you save the number to her phone?* It was a different sender. She frowned, then she raised her brow in realization. ‘Oh, Ethan.’ She sent an emoji to signify a yes. Since she was assured that everything was going as planned, she relaxed and left the restroom.
“Let’s go.” The police officers ushered them out of the hotel. As they stepped their foot at the hotel’s front gate, they were greeted by a flock of reporters.
“Damn it, they never let an opportunity pass them by.” Susan was irritated by their disturbance. There were more than twenty reporters present, and she wondered who leaked the location of the hotel to the media.
“Mrs. Ivy Anderson, were you behind the assault?”
“Why did you try to claim her life?”
“What the hell, how could you say that.” Susan exclaimed. “Who told you such nonsense?” How could they assume that Ivy was trying to take the life of an insignificant shadow, was Ivy that bored? Not that Isabelle was her rival in any way.
“Have you see the state she is in, she barely survived.” One of the police officers responded to Susan’s words.
“Woah, she fooled you too.” Susan scoffed.
Ivy stepped on Susan’s foot to shut her mouth. She understood she was angry, so is she. But there were better things to do than arguing with the media and the police.
“Ivy, did you do it?”
Ivy chuckled at the question; she thought they already affirmed Isabelle’s claim, she was quite surprised someone was willing to ask if it was true. She didn’t reply though; her words were not enough to prove her innocence.
The police officers tried to escape from the frenzy of reporters, but their numbers were many making it difficult to squirm out of their interviews.
“Let us pass!” One of the police officers yelled, and the reporters had to give way, seeing his seriousness. But among them, there were still stubborn ones who were still adamant about getting a statement from Ivy.
“Ivy, answer, are you the assaulter?”
“Did you pay thugs to assault her?” The stern look from one of the officers silenced them. They immediately stepped back to let them pass. Ivy, with the police officers, entered the vehicles and drove off, leaving the reporters standing.
News about Ivy being summoned by the police spread around the country till it got to the ears of a particular individual sitting in his living room.
“She thinks she can survive in the industry, let me see how she would climb. Oh, and where is her darling husband now, he just ditched her.” Dave scoffed as he saw the news. He felt happier seeing Ivy being slandered by the netizens after making him kneel like a loser. He still held a grudge for what she did, and since then, he had been thinking of a way to get back at her. It seems he would have to sit and enjoy the show without doing anything himself.
Meanwhile, at the Anderson family home, Albert shoved his phone in front of old Roy.
“You see this, she is a disgrace to our family. Look at the way she is tarnishing our family name.” What was annoying him most was the ‘Mrs. Anderson’ the media were using to address Ivy.
Roy shoved his son’s phone in his pocket without saying a word.
“Father, why aren’t you bothered about this?” Albert’s eyes were twitching as he spoke. The old man was just ignoring him.
Roy looked at his son intently. “Are you nuts?”
Albert turned speechless at his father’s words. He pointed his finger at himself, “what?”
“Are you nuts,” Roy repeated the question. “How did she tarnish our family name? Is it because the reporters call her Mrs. Anderson? Isn’t she an Anderson? She is married to my son. And anyways about the news. Close your eyes and focus on the business. Zack knows how to handle his affairs.” Did Albert and his son think Zack would just sit back and let things play out without getting involved? After the way he treasured his darling in front of his family, will he let her be condemned by nobodies?
“People are talking, father.” Albert snapped.
“Then close your ears also,” Roy replied abruptly. “Leave my sight; your complaints are annoying me.”
Albert bit his lips and walked away in anger; even the old man was siding with Ivy, a criminal! He hated Ivy from the first day he met her. After cheating on his son, she jumped to her brother’s bed.
“Such a troublesome woman.” He gritted his teeth and stormed to his office.
Henry brought his own complaints. “Father, have you seen the news? That woman is…”
“You too have a problem with her,” Old man Roy cut him off before he could say nonsense about Ivy. “Don’t you have better things to do?”
Disbelief was written all over Henry’s face. He couldn’t believe the old man wasn’t upset. “Father, are you serious? See the way the wife of your son is…”
“Oh my God, can’t you see I’m busy, shoo, shoo, shoo.” His two sons were behaving like houseflies buzzing in his ears. They were so blind that they couldn’t see that she was being framed. How would that sweet innocent woman hurt someone? It was obvious from the first day he met her that she wasn’t a bad person.
Henry shooed away before the old man loses his patience. But he didn’t forget to give his brother a call. Unknowingly to him, he made a very terrible mistake calling the busy Zack Anderson.
