“Kate…”
Irene sent a stern warning with her eyes, and Kate quickly understood she needed to compose herself, or else she might be in real trouble.
Ethan cleared his throat and sat on the bed beside Irene, pouring himself a glass while Kate was still standing, looking at the two of them. They seemed close, too close for acquaintances, which made her wonder if he was a close relation.
“Are you both cousins?” She asked, but Irene ignored her, still sipping her drink.
“No, we’re not,” Ethan answered, not ready to delve into details.
“Have you found out the location and date for filming ‘Tomboy Donna’?” Irene asked, and Ethan just shrugged casually. “Yep.”
“Send her the location and tell her what to do,” Irene instructed. Hearing this, Kate frowned. “Who…”
“Who do you think it is, who is the other female here?” Irene yelled with a glare, and Ethan chuckled. “She is really a dork.”
Irene felt Kate was acting stupid, not that she hadn’t been acting stupid ever since. It was as if it was getting worse. “Kate, have you been taking hard drugs lately?”
“What, why would you ask that?” Kate was piqued by the question, and she could hear Ethan sniggering with his hand covering his mouth.
“You are behaving like a fool!” Irene snapped and hissed, eyeing her. Kate was hurt by Irene’s words, but she swallowed everything in for her sake and the sake of her mother. She was ready to do anything it takes to get her revenge on Ivy for making her go bankrupt. “What do you want me to do?”
On the day Ivy will be leaving for the set, Susan and her were waiting for the arrival of the new personal assistant. It passed an hour of their arranged time to meet up, yet she hasn’t arrived. Ivy decided to leave without her, but at the last minute, the young woman arrived hurriedly, with her tight skirt and long-sleeved top.
“I’m sorry, really sorry,” she clasped her hands apologetically. “It was um…”
Susan was displeased by her lateness. She wasn’t showing off a good start. “We almost left without you; it’s your first…”
“I’m sorry,” she repeated her apology, turning to Ivy. “Susan, let this slide, okay.”
Since Ivy wasn’t bothered, she gave up on her scolding. Ivy studied her for a bit. She sounded sincere, and it looks like she hurried to meet them. Maybe something held her on her way.
Seeing Ivy forgive her easily, she breathed a sigh of relief as she felt it may not be too difficult working for her. She approached Ivy with a cheerful smile on her face. “I’m Joan,” she introduced herself.
“Nice to meet you, Joan,” Ivy responded. Susan was fed up watching the two looking at each other as if they were trying to see through themselves.
“I’m sorry; we have to save the remaining introductions for later. Let’s start going before we arrive at midnight.” The trio left for the set; it was a four-hour ride. They checked into the hotel booked for the film crew and cast, as it was not too far from the filming location. They accompanied Ivy to her room, while Joan helped Ivy unpack her bag, Susan and Ivy sat to discuss. A few minutes passed, and Joan’s phone rang. She excused herself to answer the call, saying it was important. Over thirty minutes, she still hadn’t returned.
“There’s a special dinner for the cast and crew tonight,” Susan announced. “Director Tim informed me not too long ago.”
“Oh.” Ivy’s mind trailed to a particular individual, to be precise two hell of individuals that she would have to put up with until the end of the film.
“Oh? It seems you don’t want to go,” Susan noticed the expression written all over her face. “What is it?”
Ivy brushed it off. They won’t be too bad, right? The issue with her sister was making her grow suspicious of people. “I’ll leave when it’s time.”
“Okay, I’m going to my room. I’ll pick you up tomorrow,” Susan stood up to leave, but she noticed somebody was missing. “Where is Joan?”
“I think she is still on the call,” Ivy didn’t see anything to be bothered about.
Susan went off to her room; when she got to the hallway, she kept scanning the whole place in search of Joan but couldn’t find her anywhere.
On her way to her room, she bumped into someone’s shoulder. “Sorry,” apologizing without looking at the person she bumped into, she carried on walking. She didn’t take up to three steps before she felt her hair being pulled by a strong grip. “Ah.” grasping the hand that pulled her by the hair, she winced in pain.
“Let go of me; what is the meaning of this? Ah!”
Isabelle clutched tightly on Susan’s hair with a satisfied look on her face.
“Will sorry fix my shoulder, you wretch.” Isabelle’s assistant was uncomfortable with her behavior. It was only a small accident; can’t she let go of something as that? “Isabelle, she apologized, let her…”
Her words died in her throat when she saw Isabelle glaring at her. Why is she being unreasonable? If she hated Ivy so much, she should just face her. Why bully her manager?
“Take your hands off me!” Susan couldn’t force Isabelle’s hands off her hair, no matter how hard she tried. How could this fragile-looking actress be so strong? She completely forgot all the actors participating in the film must know martial arts, since it was an action genre. Isabelle was quite strong despite her weak look, as she had practiced to perfect her fighting skills so she could act alongside George.
Isabelle was simply enjoying seeing her struggle to break free. If only Ivy were in her place right now, she would have been more than satisfied.
“Isa…” Her PA had to at least try to coax her to let go. The poor woman was in pain; what will she gain from all of this?
“If you can’t watch, then leave,” Isabelle said firmly, then turned to look at the weak Susan who couldn’t make her budge.
“Somebody help me! Help! Help!” Susan resorted to the only thing to do at the moment, since she was too weak to pull off from her grasp; someone needs to help.
“So pathetic,” she scoffed, tightening her grip. She really felt pleasure torturing her. Of course, she was trying to call the attention of Ivy. What else was the main reason she was hurting her manager?
With no sign of help, Susan kicked her leg with all the strength she could muster, but it was like she was an immovable mountain. “F*ck,” she hissed, bearing through the pain.
Finally, she heard footsteps approaching; ‘thank goodness’. Someone was coming to save her from the crazy woman.
Then a loud voice boomed all over the place. So loud that Susan had to cover her ears.
“LET GO OF HER, YOU BITCH!
