The rain stopped falling on Callie’s head, as it was blocked.
He shook hands with the traffic officer, expressionless. “Talk to me if there’s anything.”
Callie stiffened and looked up at him.
Having been a traffic officer for many years, he had some insight. He could tell at a glance that both Callie’s car and the man’s car were worth a fortune, far more expensive than a BMW.
Moreover, judging by Nelson’s demeanor, he was clearly not an ordinary person.
The officer couldn’t help but feel a bit worried for the man.
He wrote on his notepad and issued a ticket to each of them. “You were speeding,” he told the man.
Then he turned to Callie. “Are you going to settle the car issue privately?”
The man exploded instantly. “You can’t do this! Look at her shabby appearance; does she look like she can afford to pay? And my hand, look at what happened to it!”
Callie was furious but remained silent.
A hand gently patted the back of her head.
The officer retorted, “Both of you are at fault. You also kicked her car like this!”
Seeing that the situation was not in his favor and noticing that the woman had called someone who seemed quite imposing, the man panicked and shouted again, “Do you know who my father is? If I tell him, you’re all finished!”
Nelson held his phone in his slender hand. The screen lit up with a call from Cora.
He glanced at the arrogant man and answered the call on speakerphone.
“Deputy Director Lee of the city bureau has a son and a daughter. His younger son dropped out of high school and has been causing trouble ever since. He’s done many heinous things that have been covered up. This should be the person you’re talking about.”
The man’s eyes widened in disbelief, and even the traffic officer looked around incredulously.
The son of a city bureau official… able to find out about someone from the city bureau in such a short time…
He began to realize he was dealing with something significant.
Nelson, who had remained motionless and silent, easily suppressed the man’s arrogance. Regret began to ferment as he realized he might have caused trouble.
“You…”
At this moment, Cora added, “It seems Deputy Director Lee is up for a promotion this year.”
It was like a thunderclap.
The man in front of them coldly curled his lips. “As a senior police officer, raising such a son is indeed a dereliction of duty.”
The words “dereliction of duty” weighed heavily.
The man clearly panicked, his eyes trembling with fear.
“If he’s derelict in his duty, isn’t it inappropriate for him to continue as director?”
Nelson raised an eyebrow slightly, exuding a chilling aura.
Cora understood and said, “I got it. Don’t worry.”
No one spoke for a moment.
Callie shivered in his arms, feeling cold.
The man instinctively held her tighter, handed her the umbrella, then pushed her aside. He put away his phone and leaned slightly toward the man. “You just said she couldn’t afford to pay for this car?”
There was a hint of coaxing in his tone.
The man didn’t dare to respond.
“Hey!”
Callie took two steps forward with the umbrella, but it was too late to stop him. Nelson had already turned and got into the car, slamming the door shut.
He started the engine, stepped on the gas pedal, and with a speed that left everyone unable to react, he crashed into the man’s car.
-Boom!
The man was completely stunned.
Smoke rose from the rear of the car, making it look like a disaster from any angle.
Nelson got out of the car unscathed, his eyes showing a hint of ruthlessness. He took the ticket from the traffic officer’s hand, grabbed Callie’s hand, and walked towards his own car. “Let’s go home; someone will come to handle this.”
