For the next week, Nelson did not appear again. He did not return to Paucaster Villa Complex and seemed busy with the remaining matters of the Blair family.
Bianca was very dissatisfied. “How busy can he be? He doesn’t even have time to come home and sleep. This is outrageous. I must talk to his grandfather.”
Callie knew she had upset that man and quickly stopped her. “Nelson is busy. Sometimes it can last a month. Bianca, don’t mind it.”
“It’s fine usually, but now you’re injured. As a husband, he should come back to see you, right?” Bianca couldn’t understand.
Callie laughed. It felt like Bianca was more like her family.
“I’m almost healed. I can get the cast off in another week.” She was so uncomfortable being immobile every day that she couldn’t wait to get better.
“Callie, tell me honestly, does Nelson have an affair?” Bianca asked quietly, looking worried.
Callie didn’t know about its and stammered, “N-no.” Nelson seemed very busy every day, with no signs of another woman around him.
“That’s right. Nelson has always been loyal. You don’t need to worry.”
Callie thought about it. If Nelson really had another woman outside, she wouldn’t be able to do anything about it anyway.
Litzy sent her a message: Did you know? The transfer order came. Skye was dismissed. Guess the reason-illegal activities!
Callie didn’t expect the matter to be handled so quickly. The order came in less than a week.
“Everyone is guessing if you’ll be the next director. Think about it, you just secured such a big project, you’re the most suitable candidate. But if you ask me, that position is really unlucky. It’s okay if you don’t get it.”
After reading it, Callie hesitated for a while and opened her chat with Nelson. Their conversation was still on the last topic. She typed a few words: Thank you.
Deleted.
Sorry.
Deleted.
Her head throbbed painfully. She didn’t know how to express her guilt. After thinking for a long time, she simply threw her phone aside, out of sight, out of mind.
At this moment, on the top floor of Oconnor Group, Cora placed a stack of documents on the table.
“Mrs. Blair has successfully stepped down and is now in Ylosea. Should we let her see her son?”
Nelson was signing documents and didn’t look up. “Let her see him once a week until he comes of age.”
“Yes.” Cora continued, “Nash is not giving up. He has contacted many old acquaintances, even Jaquan, but no one is willing to help him.”
Nelson sneered. “When the wall falls, everyone pushes. He is too young.”
“Larry’s downfall will be on the news tonight. Jaquan probably won’t sit still. What should we do?”
“Let’s wait and see.” He put down his pen. “Go find Nash again and tell him to drive the car I gave him to Ylosea. People there will respond when they see the car.”
Cora opened her mouth slightly. “Mr. Oconnor, you had this planned all along. Truly merciful… Aren’t you afraid of raising a potential tiger?”
“He is somewhat like a younger brother I watched grow up…” He smiled faintly, recalling the sharp-tongued woman who scolded him without emotion. “Out of the entire Blair family, I can only protect him. Do it quickly.”
“Yes.” Cora didn’t leave immediately and cautiously asked, “Are you staying at Oconnor Group tonight?”
Nelson had been staying at the company all week. It was strange; did he have a fight with Callie?
“Has Skye’s news been spread?” he asked in return.
“It’s already out there. I didn’t expect she would dare to harbor such murderous intent.”
The pen was gently tossed onto the table with a clang.
“I’ll go home tonight.”
